Emery Gate
Emery Gate Shopping Centre is a shopping centre in Chippenham, Wiltshire. It is owned by its landlords Acorn Property Group, and hires staff through Kingdom Services Group Limited. The team at the shopping centre is only recorded as being 5 people JF, MV, DD, QD, PD, but including shop tenants, this will easily add on around 50 more people.
History
[edit]Emery Gate was built in the mid-1980s.[1]
In 2008, Tesco moved into the centre to replace Somerfield.[2]
In August 2022, the shopping centre was acquired by Acorn Property Group.[3][4]
In January 2024, Tesco announced it would be closing its supermarket within Emery Gate and that it would move to a smaller unit on the high street.[5]
Announced by Acorn Property Group, in Late 2025, the shopping centre will be demolished and new flats will be built, homing upto 2500 new people
Future
[edit]There are plans to demolish the shopping centre and replace it with a mixture of housing and retail.[6]
