Taller Marmo
[edit]Taller Marmo S.r.l., commonly known as Taller Marmo, is an Italian fashion label based in Milan. The brand was founded by Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicoechea and is known for luxury occasion wear, particularly fluid kaftans.
History
[edit]Taller Marmo was founded in 2013 by Riccardo Audisio from Italy and Yago Goicoechea from Argentina. The two designers met while studying at the Istituto Marangoni in Milan and, in 2012, decided to leave their studies and relocate to Dubai. There, they began designing their signature kaftans while continuing production in Italy.
In 2016, the brand moved its operations to Milan to expand its wholesale business. The brand saw a significant increase in sales from 2020, with an eight-fold growth following the COVID-19 pandemic. Taller Marmo is now stocked by major luxury retailers, including Net-a-Porter, Harrods, MyTheresa, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Bloomingdale’s, and Printemps. The name "Taller Marmo" combines the Spanish word for "laboratory" (taller) with the Italian word for "marble" (marmo), reflecting the brand’s approach to fashion as a blend of craftsmanship and luxury.
Style and Inspiration
[edit]Taller Marmo's designs are inspired by the jet-set lifestyle of the 1960s and 1970s, with influences drawn from iconic figures such as Diana Vreeland, Elizabeth Taylor, Mina, Marella Agnelli, and Diana Ross. The brand’s design philosophy centers on creating timeless, high-quality pieces that can be styled in various ways, emphasizing craftsmanship and empowering fabrics. Many of the brand's kaftans are offered in a one-size fit, catering to a wide range of body types and personal styles. The brand's collections are updated each season, and all garments are crafted by skilled artisans in laboratories located near Milan. Audisio and Goicoechea describe themselves as dressmakers rather than traditional fashion designers, focusing on creating investment-worthy eveningwear that transcends trends and makes women feel extraordinary. Taller Marmo gained significant recognition in the fashion industry, particularly after winning the Woolmark Prize[1] for the India, Pakistan, and Middle East region in 2015. This prestigious award highlighted the brand’s unique position in the global fashion landscape, particularly its connection to Dubai’s cosmopolitan spirit through the collaboration of an Italian and an Argentine duo.
