Kitengie Ngoy Fabrice, professionally known as Dj Fatkast, is a Congolese born dj based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He plays various genres, including Hip hop, Rnb, Afrobeats, Kizomba, Zouk, Amapiano, and Ndombolo.

Early life and Career beginnings

DJ Fatkast developed an interest in music in the 1990s, where he explored various sounds and genres. He began DJing in 2006, initially performing at small parties, where he performed for friends and local audiences. While attending university, he continued to build his reputation by playing at numerous private events. His first major professional step was as a resident DJ at iLevel (now Atmosphere Club) in Pullman, Kinshasa. This residency helped establish him within the Kinshasa nightlife scene, and he later advanced to the role of general manager. In this expanded role, DJ Fatkast traveled internationally, sharing his dynamic sets in various cities and countries, further growing his fanbase.

Throughout his career, DJ Fatkast has performed as the warm-up DJ for high-profile concerts, setting the stage for global stars like Brick and Lace, Eve, Fuse ODG, Booba, Singuila, Davido, Youssoupha, Joe, and more. These performances contributed to his experience and versatility as a DJ. In 2014, DJ Fatkast relocated to South Africa, where he became active in the private and corporate event scene, performing at over 500 events. He has worked with prominent venues such as Montana, Sumo, Louis, Escobar Lounge, Opera , Drama, Saints, and Booth, making his mark on South Africa’s vibrant music and nightlife scene.

2006 - 2010 : Foundations and Early Recognition

From 2006 to nearly 2010, DJ Fatkast was dedicated to building his name and reputation in Kinshasa, performing at small parties, local events, and private functions. His passion and skills steadily earned him recognition within the local music scene.

2010 - 2012 : Baziks Collaboration and Local Fame

In 2010, he began collaborating with Narsix Baha, a well-known figure in Congo, to help launch Baziks, an online streaming platform focusing on Congolese and Afro music. This partnership contributed to promoting African music and helped him gain recognition in the industry.

Between 2010 and 2012, DJ Fatkast both organized and performed at multiple high-profile events in Kinshasa, helping him establish connections within the music scene.

2012 - 2013 :Joining iLevel and Expansion

In 2012, he met DJ MasterLee, a former resident DJ at Noxx Antwerp in Belgium and event organizer, who was in Kinshasa to open a new nightclub, a prominent club in the country at the time. DJ Fatkast officially joined the crew and contributed to the club’s successful launch. Just three months later, MasterLee opened a second iLevel club in Lubumbashi, where DJ Fatkast handled DJ booth responsibilities for both iLevel Kinshasa and Lubumbashi. MasterLee was also instrumental in bringing artist Joe to perform in Kinshasa in 2012, further boosting the club’s and DJ Fatkast's reputation.

2013 - 2014 : Diversification and Media Ventures

In 2013, DJ Fatkast began diversifying his portfolio by launching a TV show on B-One Tv and performing at various public events.

2014 - 2020 : Relocation and Career Shift

Then, in April 2014, he relocated to Pretoria, South Africa, to focus on his studies. He paused his DJing career temporarily to concentrate on academics and worked as a full-time graphic designer, remotely collaborating with many of Congo’s top clubs. Eventually, he resumed DJing but limited himself to private and corporate functions.


2020 - 2024 : Relocation and Career Shift

Following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020,DJ Fatkast returned to the club scene, moving to Johannesburg, where he performed at notable venues in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

2024 - Present : African Tour and Homecoming

In 2024, he announced a tour across Africa, with a special focus on returning to Congo, where his career began. This tour will include performances in several cities and countries, bringing his journey full circle and reconnecting with his roots in African music.

Personal life

DJ Fatkast is the eighth of ten children, growing up in a large family that fostered his passion for music and creativity. He is also a dedicated father and balances his family life with a career that spans music and design. Alongside his DJing career, DJ Fatkast is an experienced senior graphic designer, a skill he cultivated while working with top clubs and private clients.

He pursued higher education at the University of Kinshasa and later at Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa, where he earned degrees in mathematics, computer science, and robotics. His academic background complements his innovative approach to music and technology, blending his creative and technical expertise.
