The 2025 Lions and Lionesses tour of Australia will be a joint tour of Australia by the England men's and England women's national rugby league teams. The tour will involve the re-establishment of The Ashes, an international test series previously competed by Australia and Great Britain men's national rugby league teams.[1]
Background
[edit]The 2025 Ashes Series will be the first of the England era, and the first since 2003 which saw Australia claim their 20th Ashes title leaving the all times series as 20 wins to Australia and 19 to Great Britain. It will also be the first Lions Tour of the England era, though England have hosted two tours of New Zealand in 2015 and 2018. England's Lionesses however have conducted six tours prior to 2025, with the first in 2009 and most recent in 2019, however none have been to Australia. Both teams last game against Australia was during the 2017 men's and 2017 women's world cups, the women's game was a 38–0 defeat in the group stage, and the men's a 6–0 defeat in the Final.
