The 1986 Seattle Seahawks season was the team's eleventh in the National Football League (NFL). Despite posting a 10–6 record and having a dominant five-game win streak to close out the season, the Seahawks narrowly missed the playoffs, losing the tiebreakers with both AFC wild card teams.[1]

Prior to this season, the team moved its Kirkland headquarters a mile east, from the former shipyard on the shore of Lake Washington to a new facility at Northwest College.[2] Summer training camp was held at the new site rather than at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, southwest of Spokane.[2]

Game summaries

[edit]

Even though the Seahawks did not qualify for the playoffs, a memorable moment during the season was Steve Largent breaking Harold Carmichael's NFL record for consecutive games (128) with at least one reception. It came on October 6 in a 33–7 home victory over the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football as Seattle improved its record to 4–1.[7][8]
