Contest department

• The contest department has completed its forty-fourth month of competition. A total of 77 articles were entered by 7 editors. The Bushranger came first with a tremendous 214 points from 43 articles, followed by Parsecboy with a very creditable 102 points from 13 articles. They receive the WikiChevrons and the Writer's Barnstar respectively. Honorable mentions go to Ian Rose (58), Ed! (50), and Djmaschek (42). The ed17 and D2306 also fielded entries. Please submit any articles you are working on for the February contest.

Awards and honours

• The A-Class medal has been awarded to:
  • Jappalang: For Battle of Barnet, Battle of Bosworth Field, and Battle of Towton.

• The A-Class medal with Oak Leaves has been awarded to:
  • Ed!: For Battle of the Bowling Alley, Battle of Sangju (1950), and Battle of Haman.
  • Ed!: For Battle of Hwanggan, Battle of Pusan Perimeter logistics and Battle of Yongdong.
  • Ian Rose: For William Ellis Newton, Ian Dougald McLachlan and Alan Charlesworth.
  • MisterBee1966: For Heinrich Prinz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, List of Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves recipients (1943) and List of Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves recipients (1944).
