Category:Video hardware is a distinct category separate from Category:Graphics hardware, but they share the same {{Cat main}}, Graphics hardware. Video is an electronic medium first developed for mechanical television systems, whereas graphics are visual images or designs on some surface, such as a wall, canvas, screen, paper, or stone – that don't necessarily make use of electronics for their creation or transmission. There has been a {{generalize}} tag on Graphics hardware since May 2016: "This article describes only one highly specialized aspect of its associated subject." There is a more specific article, Computer graphics, and category, Category:Computer graphics, of which Category:Graphics hardware is a subcategory. Category:Graphics hardware is also a subcategory of Category:Video hardware. Perhaps Category:Graphics hardware should be renamed to Category:Computer graphics hardware as items like paint, paintbrushes, pens and pencils could be broadly construed as "graphics hardware". Comment. I don't doubt that device ID has other meanings, it is such a generic term. But good chance this is what a user might be looking for, and if we don't have anything else, what is the proposal here? If other uses in Wikipedia articles can be found then it can become a dab page, but otherwise, leave it alone. SpinningSpark 18:03, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per WP:XY, my first thought when seeing "device ID" was Advertising ID. I could also see serial number and MAC address being plausible destinations too. There's also Device fingerprint. Delete as hopelessly vague, and without a plausible target article or disambiguation page. Disagree with Spark that there is a good chance readers will be looking for device drivers.
