- Comment he's dead, so a FUR can also be written. It's an NASA ID badge, so a creation of the US government... since the uploader appears to be the son of the person on the ID, it looks like a family source. 70.24.251.71 (talk) 07:22, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Wouldn't the first version (the NASA badge) be proof enough that this is {{PD-USGov-NASA}}? --Stefan2 (talk) 12:43, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep but crop PD-USGov-NASA probably works. But, it is inappropriate for Wikipedia to have a governmental security badge image, which could be a security risk. I have cropped to show just the photo. The earlier revision should be deleted.--GrapedApe (talk) 12:59, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Note: This image is currently tagged as non-free. If there is a dispute with the rationale, please tag the image with {{dfu}} or list it at WP:Non-free content review. AnomieBOT⚡ 06:28, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- The CalTech badge is also troubling and likely inappropriate for use here: File:James H Trainor Caltech Badge 1.jpg.--GrapedApe (talk) 14:55, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Further comment was requested from Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Government_security_badges.--GrapedApe (talk) 14:56, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep, cropping unnecessary but optional: Previous discussion at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2009 October 22#File:James H Trainor NASA Badge 1.jpg. I agree with the comments there that, as an historical ID of low resoultion, there is no issue with hosting the file here. Whether to crop the photo or not need only be an aesthetic concern. - The problem is that it is a photo of magazines or books or something. As such, it is a derivative work. Permission is needed from the one who made the original books. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:21, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Note The images from that web site are apparently licensed under the "Common 3" licence, whatever that means. See here: "Tutti i contenuti sono sotto licenza Common 3. In pratica le immagini possono essere usate liberamente purché si citi sempre la fonte." (All contents are under the Common 3 licence. Practically, the images may be used freely as long as the source always is quoted.) It is plausible to assume that "Common 3" means version 3.0 of some Creative Commons licence and the text stating that the contents may be used freely without any mention of commercial usage probably rules out the NC licences, but I wouldn't be too sure about the ND licences. --Stefan2 (talk) 23:21, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Comment The same image is available here as CC-BY-NC-ND with a later date and just some photoshopping. Is Wikipedia the original source or might the photographing task be unfree? The Geolocation web site claims that the obelisk is in Scotland where there is FOP. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:36, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep There is a Viewfield in Glenrothes, Scotland and here is a Google street image of a similar obelisk (not the same one). The sign in the photo says "Glenrothe". The metadata does not conflict. Obelisk is work of craftsmanship. I think we should accept this photo as claimed by the uploader. Thincat (talk) 16:45, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
