The result of the discussion was: speedy delete as F8. As the subject is currently living, it ultimately becomes a free/non-free discussion, and we can't use non-free images of living people for biographical articles. Thus any image that we would have for this person would have to be eligible for inclusion on Commons, and thus there is no reason to have a local copy. Therefore, since thie file is present both here and on Commons, in order not to have the same discussion on the same file in two places, it is best to complete the move to Commons that was previously initiated and delete this file. That allows us to have one discussion, on Commons. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:44, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- I don't believe the UN gives their photographs into the public domain. Same discussion at commons is here. Magog the Ogre (talk) 01:29, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- This is ultimately a textbook example for why one should give files descriptive names rather than a generic "IMG_1944" type name. This title currently contains two distinct images in it, and was brought over from FFD (see discussion). The originally-uploaded file is the picture of the castle. That original file has no licensing problems, since it was all done at once and it is clear that everything was intended to go together because nothing else was on that title beforehand. That file has been separated and moved to Commons, at File:Ksiaz Castle.jpg, and therefore is essentially taken out of play. The second file, of the Nile, was uploaded over the original file. The description was changed, but the license was never adjusted, even leaving the original uploader's username in the license box. So we don't know if the second file's uploader intended to license the file freely or not. I am notifying the second uploader of the discussion, and thus this file either needs to have its licensing straightened out or be deleted. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:31, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted the picture to my original one with the correct licence. Norum 03:07, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Let me actually re-revert you, because that actually defeats the purpose of the discussion. Your original photo was already separated out and moved to Commons as File:Ksiaz Castle.jpg. That photo is safe and out of play. Besides, I could have done that myself. :-) We are specifically discussing the photo that was uploaded over yours now, and so that one needs to be the active one. - Photo of banner/2d art... So not sure this can be CC-BY-SA as claimed Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:56, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I'd barely call it 2D art - it is a banner constructed as promotion/tradition/encouragement of the team, who then run through it when they enter the arena and destroy it. By this definition almost every photo of everything man made (t-shirts being worn, buildings in the background etc) would also be doubtful. Is there a better licence I, the photographer, should have used?The-Pope (talk) 00:07, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- licensing claims public domain as it comes from the NASA website but it is credited to an artist from the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and hence not created by a NASA employee. The CfA's image policy states that their images are not compatible with a Wikipedia free-use license (non-commercial). Very likely un-free and as an artist's impression will not qualify under NFCC.
