The Jean and Alexander Heard Library at Vanderbilt University is hosting an Edit-A-Thon focused on developing Wikipedia articles about women in STEM. Join us in learning and writing about the many contributions of talented and influential women scientists living and working throughout history, from the ancient world to the modern day.
Wikipedians of all experience levels and members of the general public are encouraged to participate!
Event details
edit- Who: We invite Vanderbilt students, faculty, staff, and all Wikipedians in the Nashville area.
- What: This Edit-A-Thon will focus on creating articles, improving citations, and adding details about women scientists throughout history. University librarians will be on hand to assist in research and proper citation style. This event is FREE and lunch will be provided.
- When: Tuesday, November 15, 2016
- Time: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm CST
- Where: Vanderbilt University Library, Special Collections
419 21st Ave South, Nashville TN 37240- The edit-a-thon will be held in Special Collections. Public parking is available in the Wesley Place Parking Garage at the corner of 21st Ave S and Scarritt Place. There are a limited number of metered parking places next to the library building as well.
- Other: Please bring your own laptop, if possible. Wifi and electrical outlets will be provided in Special Collections. There will also be a limited number of laptops available for checkout. It is recommended that you create a Wikipedia account beforehand since Wikipedia has a limit on the number of accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period (currently 6). Please send a message to CatonMA if you have any questions regarding creating an account.
