The result of the discussion was: Delete; seems like the image was uploaded by a representative of the group. We'd need evidence of a free license in that case, as representatives often don't hold the copyright. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:36, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: No consensus; given the article content the argument for significance appears to be at least plausible, but is rather thin. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:41, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
- File:Chris Evans as Captain America.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by TriiipleThreat (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

- Keep: The contextual significance of this image is tremendous as it displays the most wide-spread depiction of the character in the modern age. Ticket sales for these films far exceed the comic book readership and as such this image is detrimental to the understanding of Captain America in other media.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 14:02, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
- Ticket sales, book readership and what not makes no logic. We have free images of Chris Evans (actor) for all that. And frankly, people who are reading "Captain America in other media" have actually seen "Captain America in other media" in other places and don't need WP to do that through a small non-free image. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 03:40, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- As you can see in file, the actor is barely recognizable. What is recognizable is the live-action costume and design. Which is why it is significant. And frankly it's omission would be pretty glaring in an article about "Captain America in other media".--TriiipleThreat (talk) 04:41, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- There are plenty non-free images of Captain America already in use in various article, this as well as the main article, and plenty free images of Evans. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 07:13, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
- We are not talking about various articles, we are specifically talking about "Captain America in other media" and specifically talking about this particular depiction of the character. I have already stated why this particular depiction is significant.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 10:26, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

- You are underrating the word "significance". I do not want to repeat again that it's omission would not be detrimental to understanding of the article. We will let others and admins judge now. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 03:39, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
- I beg to differ, again its presence significantly increases readers' understanding of the article topic and its omission would be pretty glaring and detrimental. Also, there is still more I can elaborate on from reliable sources.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 03:47, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
- Keep: The image is of contextual significance, given the immense popularity of the character's film adaptations and its relevance to the article. DrRC (talk) 21:15, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
- Keep: There's a quote from the costume designer in the prose next to the picture describing where she got her inspiration. The picture reinforces that, and allows a reader to understand what she's talking about. Argento Surfer (talk) 13:29, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
- My goodness! If every quote meant a non-free image, we would be doomed. Jenny Beavan said about Helena Bonham Carter in The King's Speech "We couldn’t afford huge amounts of different outfits, but changing the hat changed the look. Every single one we put on her just looked wonderful." ref I guess we should add all hat images from the film; lets make the complete film on wikipedia in screenshots. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 19:36, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

- Like I said, you don't understand "significance". §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 03:24, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
- I actually have a strong grasp of the language and it appears that I am not the only one. But if I must I can still expand on its significance as there are plenty of sources on the topic.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 20:59, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

- If anyone had actually said "every quote [means] a non-free image", we would be in trouble. Lucky for us, no one did. I said this particular quote is better understood with a reference picture. Argento Surfer (talk) 13:42, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

It is claimed that the creator of the image, Dag Detter, has placed this into the public domain. However, as he is the subject of the photo, and it does not appear to be a selfie, this would not seem to be his to release. Nat Gertler (talk) 21:53, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
