- File:An Garda Síochána flag.PNG (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Hammersfan (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
If File:Gardaí.jpg is not freely licensed, there is no way for the creator of this image to release this image (File:Gardaí.jpg on a blue background) under a free license. As a non-free image, I don't think that this meets the NFCC requirements, as in image is not required to explain that the flag is the seal on a navy blue background. If File:Gardaí.jpg is non-free, this image is also non-free, as the main visual element is that same icon. I don't believe that the shoulder patches themselves, if non-free, meet the NFCC #8 requirements - they are not critical to the understanding of the Garda. - Update: As half of the set (see below entry) are copyvios, even if the determination is met that it does meet the NFCC, it's going to be part of an incomplete set of images. Sven Manguard Wha? 02:21, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

False claim of own work. A cursory look is enough to tell that the substantive element(s) of the image, the red badge(s), have been lifted from another, uncredited source. Elaborate stitch work is not too simple to be copyrighted.

Orphan blurry image, with no concept of what the picture is of. No context from image. Storm photo matches no descriptions of the 1991 Atlantic hurricane season. No current or forseeable use for this file -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 04:02, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Historical photo from the 1920s. Possibly PD due to age, but currently tagged as non-free. NFCC#8 violation: all this image shows is that there was a ceremony involving many people in St Peter's Basilica – which is exactly as much as can just as easily be conveyed by text alone. Photo is not the object of any individual commentary beyond this and is merely used as a decoration in an infobox. Fut.Perf. ☼ 10:36, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose Doesn't the image describe the content of the article? My reason to keep this image is that this is significant historic irreplaceable image and one of the only three images of the event that is currently available. This image shows how canonization took place in those days and give a better understanding of the actual event which the article describes about. I would like to know your justification for saying that it is merely used as a decoration in an infobox. I personally do not agree with this statement. Also I would like to know how is this image different from the following:
- or numerous other files found under Category:Wikipedia non-free historic files. You can argue that all the above images are pictures of group of people present during the event and that's all. All these Photos are not the object of any individual commentary of their respective article and can be argued that they are merely used as a decoration in the article.
- Regarding copyright: Some of the other works of this author Mgr Henri Debout (1857-?) is in public domain[1]. It is safe to assume that this image too is in public domain as french copyright law is authors death 70years (and has nothing to do with publication date). But I have no idea how to verify this. The source of the image is the book: Jeanne d'Arc, grande histoire illustrée - 4° ed. 1922 - vol.II, p. 680 à 734 --Jayarathina (talk) 15:42, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- It is most certainly {{PD-1923-abroad}}, if nothing else. Sven Manguard Wha? 17:51, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Could you specify where it was published, so that the {{PD-US-1923-abroad}} claim can be verified? --Stefan2 (talk) 14:30, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

There's no reason to have this as an image, it can be expressed as text more legibly and with greater accessibility Sven Manguard Wha? 20:35, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
