The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 17:28, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Non-defining (e.g. for West Indian manatee), subjective and just not a good form of categorization (e.g. it's unlikely that a zoo, museum, book etc would categorize lifeforms based on whether or not they are used as an indicator). Also, the NA category appears to indicate that there are 3 definitions. That a species has been used as an indicator is something that (assuming it can be referenced etc) could be mentioned in the article text (and linked to the relevant article), but it doesn't need a category. The result of the discussion was: No consensus to delete Timrollpickering (Talk) 00:32, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Small category unlikely to be further populated.  — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  17:01, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This is the absolute embodiment of part of a large overall accepted sub-categorization scheme given that there are equivalent subcats for all other nationalities that took part in the conflict. As such, WP:SMALLCAT doesn't apply, and there's no valid reason for deletion. ‑ Iridescent 18:37, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom, i.e. merge to Category:People of the Spanish Civil War. This is not a large scheme, it consists of only 33 countries and we might easily trim this further down to 20 or so. Marcocapelle (talk) 02:44, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Iridescent's argument. Dimadick (talk) 10:38, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - This refers to people from San Marino, a small independent enclave within Italy. Do we really need this? Peterkingiron (talk) 21:44, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Merge Timrollpickering (Talk) 14:38, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: upmerge per WP:SMALLCAT, each currently contains only one article. Both articles are already in Category:LGBT-related slurs so I removed that as a merge target. Marcocapelle (talk) 15:13, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Merge The sole oppose !vote is from a now indefinitely blocked user. Timrollpickering (Talk) 14:40, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge, redundant category layer, every category has only one or two subcategories each. A second merge target is not needed, since all content is already in Category:Members of prefectural assemblies of Japan‎ and Category:Prefectural assembly elections in Japan‎. Marcocapelle (talk) 12:09, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. All of the categories have growth potential through the subcategories. Besides I'm planning to create categories for "member" and "election" and primary article for all 47 prefectures. ミラP 21:42, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. MER-C 17:28, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: delete, there is no clear definition of an autonomous Turkic state. The entries in this category are territories in which between 10% and 80% of the population speaks a Turkic language and that language is one of the official languages. If the category is kept, its name should become something like Category:Autonomous territories with a Turkic official language. Marcocapelle (talk) 12:05, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

edit
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. MER-C 20:17, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale While Asia was a province of Ancient Rome, none of the articles in this category pertains to that province. So none was an Archbishop of Asia, rather they were archbishops in Asia. Laurel Lodged (talk) 10:34, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support at least as a temporary solution, per nom. I think we should not need this category at all because all archbishops can be categorized by country, or we would only need it as a container for all Asian countries, but the content of this category looks too messy to achieve either of that easily. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:57, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support They are essentially the same thing. However the Anglican category needs attention - Papua New Guinea is not part of Asia; There is a primate of Southeast Asia and a Primate of Korea. These both need their own subcategories, though at present they will be be over-small. Peterkingiron (talk) 21:51, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete Timrollpickering (Talk) 00:31, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Too few entries to need a category. Category:Hellboy films covers both these articles fine. ★Trekker (talk) 21:24, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete Timrollpickering (Talk) 00:31, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Too few entries about the character. Most of the films are simply works where the character appears. And even if we would consider them to "Joker films" they're too few to have their own category. ★Trekker (talk) 21:13, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete Timrollpickering (Talk) 00:29, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Too few entries in this category is actually about this character as opossed to him being a supporting character. ★Trekker (talk) 21:12, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There are (currently) no subcats. The articles are each in about 30-40 other categories so I don't see a need to "merge somewhere". DexDor (talk) 08:24, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Keep Timrollpickering (Talk) 00:28, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Overly specific. We don't need businesspeople from every moderately-sized American city pbp 04:29, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - 6 articles is just above the accepted minimum. There is no obvious boundary (of population) making a city too small to have such a category, so that I think we should draw the boundary on the basis of a number of articles. Peterkingiron (talk) 21:55, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Merge to Category:Cultural depictions of Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia Timrollpickering (Talk) 00:34, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: We don't have categories for individual films, much less lesser examples. Clarityfiend (talk) 20:12, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Creator's rationale: I created it because there were 8 relevant entries for the film and I didn't want them cluttering up the overall category about Anastasia.--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 20:15, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: disperse and delete as specified below. – Fayenatic London 12:03, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Not enough potential content to justify its own category. If it's kept, it needs renaming. M.Clay1 (talk) 06:35, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Distribute contents then delete -- The normal answer to a category like this would be to upmerge, but two of the artifcles relate to Ancient Greek mythology and the other two to Byzantine/Ottoman period folklore. Peterkingiron (talk) 22:01, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
