The result was redirect‎ to Ranks in the French Navy#Ranks formerly used in the Navy. I'm closing with a Redirect. If anyone desires to find a way to Merge article content to a list, it's all there in the page history. Liz Read! Talk! 00:11, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, they do. See, for example field marshal (Australia). Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:43, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's documented in Barbiche 2015 and numerous 18th and 19th century sources such as Brillon 1782. But treating this subject standalone is probably a mistake, as Barbiche and everyone else that I can find almost always treats this as part of a larger subject of classes of Ancien Régime officers in la marine and l'armée de terre.

  • Merge and redirect to Ranks in the French Navy § Ranks formerly used in the Navy. --A. B. (talkcontribsglobal count) 06:41, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge and redirect to Ranks in the French Navy § Ranks formerly used in the Navy. Under Wikipedia:Summary style: If only a few sentences could be written and supported by sources about the subject, that subject does not qualify for a separate article, but should instead be merged into an article about a larger topic. • Comment I'm not sure a Merge to this section of the article is feasible given that it is just a list. I don't know how additional content could be incorporated into one list item. Liz Read! Talk! 23:25, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
      • I still have creeks in Kentucky. I'll try to work something out for that section. There's more to be said than just a list, I think, from the aforementioned sources. Uncle G (talk) 06:23, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
