Delete: As a former college football quarterback, he did meet WP:NCOLLATH nor did he become a professional that meets WP:NGRIDIRON. He does not meet WP:GNG with multiple sources of significant coverage from independent sources. There is lots of Google hits, but the sources are mostly just his name mentioned as part of normal game coverage, or a few lines of WP:ROUTINE pre-game coverage about practices or trivial quotes about upcoming opponents. Most of the major sources are from the Bay Area News Group local papers of San Jose Mercury News or Oakland Tribune. Per GNG, "Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability." If major coverage can be uncovered and his WP:IMPACT can be explained as more than a WP:Run-of-the-mill college QB, I can reconsider. Starting college quarterbacks as a group are not automatically notable, let alone one that only started a few games. Keep I won't bombard with any and all coverage. Just two: Scout.com and USA Today seem to have articles that feature the subject prominently. There's many others, as a simple click on the "news" link above will show.--Paul McDonald (talk) 16:37, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for limiting the references for discussion to a few key ones. The Scout.com reference is a trivial mention in two sentences noting his debut and a 12-yard run and his first completion. The USA Today reference from 2008 is a normal game recap coverage with a boxscore and four sentences on Eden in relation to the game. This seems consistent with the WP:ROUTINE coverage I have found, and is better placed in 2008 San Jose State Spartans football team instead of creating a standalone article. While he doesn't need to be the main subject of the article, a few mentions in an obligatory game recap does not seem like significant coverage to me. I still maintain that the only significant coverage is from the Bay Area News Group, while coverage outside agencies is routine. The GNG requirement for multiple independent sources of significant coverage is not met and I've yet to see the person's WP:IMPACT to warrant a bio.—Bagumba (talk) 19:24, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Having read the Scout.com and USA Today articles cited by Paul above, I concur with Bagumba that both articles are clearly encompassed within the meaning of "routine coverage" per WP:ROUTINE. In the absence of any further evidence, the subject player simply does not satisfy any of the overlapping notability standards of WP:GNG, WP:NSPORTS or WP:NCOLLATH.
