Non-notable, self-published author running for Senate. Most GHits and GNEWS pertain to dating John Kerry and announcing candidacy - nothing of substance. Appears to fail WP:BIO and WP:POLITICIAN. ttonyb (talk) 14:53, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Redirect to United States Senate election in Connecticut, 2010. WP:POLITICIAN requires, as a general rule, that candidate pages get redirected to the election or constituency page. No reason not to follow that general rule here; nothing about the candidate stands out per WP:BIO. The page can be restored if she wins. --Mkativerata (talk) 19:14, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- As of right now, she's not even the party's Senate candidate, but only a candidate in the primary. Only the actual candidate on the ballot itself really gets to be a redirect to the election article; a primary candidate doesn't get to be anything at all until he or she actually wins the primary. Delete. Bearcat (talk) 05:38, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- In this case, given that she's mentioned in the article and even has a picture, it's a viable redirect. If someone punches "Lee Whitnum" into the search bar, they should be taken to the page that has something about her. A redirect shouldn't be viewed as an entitlement that someone has to earn by quasi-notability, but a cheap searching aid to users. --Mkativerata (talk) 05:41, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Well if you are going to delete her you have to delete all the other primary candidates: Richard Blumenthal, Merrick Alpert, Linda Mcmahon,Rob Simmons, and there are more, just leave her there. She was a candidate for Congress also. That has to count for something. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Catherine Wheeler (talk • contribs) 21:55, 29 March 2010 (UTC) — Catherine Wheeler (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic. - Comment – The existence of other articles has no bearing on this article and since I have not reviewed those articles you referenced, I cannot voice an opinion about their notability. Please see WP:WAX for more information. Every article needs to stand on its own merits and this article does not appear to meet the criteria for an article. Her candidacy is not a criteria for Wikipedia based notability as defined in WP:BIO or WP:POLITICIAN. Please read the sections for more information. ttonyb (talk) 22:40, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
