The result was Delete. In order for demos to be considered notable in and of themselves, notability needs to be established through extensive coverage in reliable sources. The sources given here are not sufficient in that. Should anyone want I am more than willing to userfy the page so that it can be worked on or the material can be merged to a more appropriate article, just ask me.Cúchullain t/c 13:27, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Demos are assumed non-notable per WP:MUSIC, with only a passing mention in one book, this does not establish notability. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 06:38, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. I have already started inserting references that show this is a notable, internationally-traded tape, heralding a unique period in heavy metal music that gave birth to the death metal genre. I can see the point of deleting the demo Infernal Live, as there is very little written about it, but Death's Reign of Terror, Infernal Death and Mutilation tapes were tantamount to independent releases because of their widely-duplicated and distributed nature, mentioned in published works as critical to the development of the genre. I would also note that the user nominating the article for deletion missed that there are already two mentions in published works sourced, not one. - Delete. Notability claimed, but the two sources provided do not establish the significant coverage required to support an article. Rehevkor ✉ 18:27, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Comment I would point out a couple of things - these demos have all been distributed as independent releases (individually and as part of the Zero Tolerance CD, 2004), and secondly they are all being included on an upcoming Relapse Records/Sony CD. - Keep, the demo is good edited, unlike others. --Eduardofoxx13 (talk) 21:31, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - Your opinion of the quality of the editing on this demo is immaterial. It simply is not notable. - SummerPhD (talk) 15:53, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - Demos are not notable without significant coverage in independent relaible sources. The coverage provided is clearly not significant. I am unable to find sufficient coverage. - SummerPhD (talk) 15:58, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Userfy There seems to be grounds to continue work on this article. I think that given the current rash of demo tape AfDs there would seem to be a general consensus leaning toward deletion of all such albums. There seems little doubt that Death are a very significant band within their genre. Though insufficiently sourced at the moment, there appears to be a significantly greater chance of this article being able to pass the required notability guidelines if expanded (particularly if international notability can be better established. Though i think this should be done on a user page to avoid potentially unnecessary discussion such as this. Fenix down (talk) 20:12, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Thank you for that constructive comment. If I had more time, I'd dig through piles of old mags to get the references. They are indeed out there - just needs to be expanded. There is no clear consensus to delete, but an obvious need to expand the articles. Best, A Sniper (talk) 21:38, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- It seems to me that it might be useful to get some of the wikiproject:metal people to comment on this. I think this would provide a more informed consensus. Fenix down (talk) 18:58, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep The band Death were pioneers in the death metal scene, and Chuck Schuldiner is often referred to as "the father of death metal". I realise that demos, generally speaking, are not notable, but I believe that this one warrants an exception, as it is arguably the first ever release of "death metal".Mk5384 (talk) 07:04, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - Death and Schuldiner are notable. That is not at issue here. The claim that this demo is notable is up for discussion as independent reliable sources have not established this, including the claim that this was "arguably the first ever release of 'death metal'."
