Proposed deletion of Hold Me in Your Arms (song)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Hold Me in Your Arms (song), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

A search for references has failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources in order to comply with notability requirements. This has included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:

Hold Me in Your Arms (song) – news, books, scholar Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (File:NeverRick.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:NeverRick.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

License tagging for File:RickrollALaChilena.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:RickrollALaChilena.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:07, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:MoveRick.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:MoveRick.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 19:49, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Since you're on the rosters of membership in at least one of those projects, I thought you might be interested. Conversation about redirecting those projects is located here. Please participate in that discussion if you have any interest, and if you still have interest in achieving the goals of the original project, we'd love to have you join in. If you aren't interested in either the conversation or the project, please pardon the interruption. :) Thanks. Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:42, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Firefox on Windows 7.png

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Firefox on Windows 7.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 140.254.57.79 (talk) 16:00, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:VincentAstley.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:VincentAstley.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 11:33, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Modern Talking

Hi MisterWiki. Noticed your edits to Modern Talking. No problems with adding info on the other artistes who appear in the recordings - you'll find info on Systems in Blue lower down in the article - but after long discussion it was agreed ages ago to only put Bohlen and Anders in the lede, as they own the name and concept (and yes, I'm familiar with the gossip that Bohlen can't sing and doesn't appear in the vocals!!!!!!) If you've got more info on the rest of the musicians and singers, please add it in the section where SIB appear. Thanks for contributing. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 16:46, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Please discuss rather than edit warring. Thank you Elen of the Roads (talk) 17:32, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

I agree they made a huge contribution to the sound - I'm sure just using your ears doesn't count as original research. Read thru the article talk page - at one point there was no mention of them, but a whole bunch of Germans arrived and we found the sources to add the guys from SIB into the article. Sorry if I reverted some good stuff - I guess you must have reverted 2 or 3 edits from Harout72. You're ok to add in information (particularly if you have sources) but don't put anything in the lede, and don't list them on albums where they didn't get a credit (it winds Harout72 up). Please read the contribution, and do not thank the vandals

I note that you are welcoming lots of new contributors to Wikipedia, and I thank you for that kind effort. But would you please read what contribution they actually made, since often it is vandalism, and by giving such a welcome immediately after their vandalism, you may inadvertently encourage more such vandalism. See Hot Topic for instance, which was vandalized by a user whom you immediately gave a hearty welcome, thanking her for her vandalistic contribution. Similarly, you thanked User talk:Executive.samuel for his three vandalisms. At User talk:Feliznorrisburguense you thanked a user who created an article constituting vandalism. At WP:WARN you will find various other templates suitable for giving graduated warnings to vandals, so that they may be steered toward productive contributions. Welcoming

(loss of session data experienced while posting...) Hello MisterWiki, although its nice to welcome users, its not always helpful to welcome vandals/sockpuppets such as you did at User talk:Veteranken. Especially when this gives other users trying to warn them edit conflicts. There is no policy against it, but it may be better to focus your efforts on some of our more constructive users. Kindest regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 15:42, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh, ok, no problem then. Might be useful to put something to that affect in the edit summary, although you don't need to. Kind regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 15:49, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

By the way, you should be aware that it's prohibited to use a automated editor from your own account (WP:Bot policy#Bot accounts) or without consent from the BAG group (WP:Bot policy#Approval process).
It's also advised that you don't run a bot that makes cosmetic changes. (WP:Bot policy#Restrictions on specific tasks)
I'm not sure whether you're running a semi-automated tool, but it looks like its fully-automated.
Kind regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 16:03, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Re ANI and your welcome message

I've noted this on the ANI thread, but I'll also leave it here to be sure you see it. We don't mass-welcome new accounts because many people create accounts that are never used, or go on to use them for vandalism, so there's no point wasting the server space. It's good to see your guestbook link has gone from the template; Wikipedia isn't myspace/bebo/whatever, and users that treat it as such are eventually asked to leave. The pictures you're using don't seem to bear much relation to the text they're alongside; if you want to use images it might be worth finding more suitable ones. Also, the message's grammar is wrong; we ask questions, we don't tell them. That's important because it doesn't give a very good first impression to new users joining a serious, knowledge-based site like ours.

The most important thing, though, is running an unauthorised bot. This will result in a block if it happens again. You get full marks for effort, and for trying to make Wikipedia a more welcoming place, but I strongly suggest you run these ideas past other editors (such as at the village pump) before diving in next time :) All the best, EyeSerenetalk 17:35, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

This does not exceed the limit of 255 characters, and can easily fit in the raw signature box, so please move it there. If you will not, move it to a .js subpage, as only you can edit those. Currently, it can be vandalized by anyone.— dαlus Contribs 20:32, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Can you protect it, I think I will not change it again. --MisterWiki talk contribs 20:36, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
I see no need to protect it when it can fit in the box that contains your signature in your preferences. It is smaller than 255 characters, which is the limit for the raw signature box.— dαlus Contribs 20:38, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

I didn't really mind your welcome bot

MisterWiki, as a completely new user, I didn't know what to make of your surprising welcome message except for what it was: a friendly, helpful welcoming message with a timely reminder to sign my edits. It also contained a rich source of wiki editing syntax for further study. Now having read the objections to your bot at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents, or is this how to link it with double brackets: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents I conclude that some policy was broken. Later I will try to understand these policies which appear to restrict certain kinds of communication. There does certainly appear to be plenty of discussion about what users/editors should or should not do, a boiling cauldron of activity. Meanwhile, I want you to know that I appreciated your welcome anyway, even if only from a bot. Keep your cheerful attitude. --Rahula2 (talk) 00:16, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Reverting a change of yours

I've reverted a change you made to this file. Typically, for non-free images, we don't do above 300 pixels on a side. I chose 200 pixels because that is the ideal with of cover images in the infobox this file is used in.--Rockfang (talk) 08:42, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

O'Higgins region communes/municipalities templates

Hellow Mr Wiki looking thought you edits I think you are doing a great work but Im concerned about your "Replacing Communes of O'Higgins Region with Cachapoal template", I think it is a step back. The O'Higgins Region template offered more navegability within the region, now you can not jump from Marchihue to Peralillo, to neighboring communes. Wikipedia is as best when you can easely access other pages of interest.

Greeting,

Dentren | Talk 21:43, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

You said something Im talk page was it about this? Can we keep the discussion here?
So... what do you say about the template issue? Dentren | Talk 23:12, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
I propose to join all the templates onto just one. Replace the original template with {{Cachapoal Province}}, {{Cardenal Caro Province}}, and so on... --MisterWiki talk contribs 23:16, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Its hart to mto see how your version [5] is better than the old one [6].. because with the version you ceated people have to clic two times (one to open and another to go into the article). Sincerily, I think the old one is much better.. if you dont agree, please say why!!? Dentren | Talk 23:42, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Are you promoting the weakness? My template is much better because it includes pics of the provinces, just look at other provinces templates like {{Drenthe Province}}. MisterWiki talk contribs 23:46, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
I have to agree that the imges thing are a good idea, but their value is not above navegability, its just to clumsy to have 3 closed sub-templates than one. Don you agree? What do you say about this [7] version?

Done This time I agree with you. --MisterWiki talk contribs 01:38, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Rick-Astley-Aint-Too-Proud-To-232592.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Rick-Astley-Aint-Too-Proud-To-232592.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 07:17, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

your RFA

I'm not sure you noticed that another admin undid your transclusion of your RFA [8] because it was not ready yet. When it is ready, you will need to re-add it to the main RFA page. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:39, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Your RFA was closed as WP:NOTNOW. I missed my chance to ask you these questions. Please be prepared to answer questions 6 in any future RFA. If the issues that led to me asking question 4 are still here in any future RFA, please be prepared to answer them. Question 5 has to do with your coming off a long wiki-break. Before running again, please have several months of sustained participation in the project and in policy- or other administration-related discussions before putting your name in the hat again.
Given how quickly this RFA closed, I recommend waiting until
  • You have at least 6 solid months of additional editing, with 100 edits in each of those months,
  • Until you have at least 4 solid months in a row of editing immediately prior to your RFA, with only short wikibreaks during those 4 months, and
  • At least 4 solid months in a row participating in administrative decisions, with only short wikibreaks or breaks from administrative discussions during those 4 months.

I normally don't require 4 solid months of administrative-type experience immediately prior to RFA, but in this case it will show that you are able to handle the issue raised in question 4. I also sent you an email on a related matter. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 21:31, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

As davidwr said, your RfA was closed early - I would suggest that you read it (and davidwr's excellent advice above) and pay attention to the comments made in the opposes - the editors who have commented there give good advice on why you are not yet ready to consider adminship.
Some reasons from me as well:
  1. your attitude here ("Still being non notable...because I live in Chile and I've never heard about it") is either arrogant or immature - either way, the notability guidelines and notability guidelines for organisations say nothing about if specific editors have heard of it - they require a reliable, independent source of information (such as, for example, the New York Times) to be available. This could be forgiven if it was months ago, but it was only 23 hours ago - seriously, many editors would have opposed on just this one thing
  2. You said that one of your best contributions was "Guide newbies (Daisy18108 by example) and other users that need it." - looking at your on-wiki conversations with Daisy18108, I don't see very much guidance - mainly it was just general chit-chat, not about Wikipedia at all. Looking through your contributions, I couldn't see any other newbies that you had helped - lots of welcome messages, but not any other guidance.
  3. You said in question 3 "Sometimes, however, it's not possible (when I get angry), when a user reclaims about my contribs, but I try anyway to do it by the better way" - an administrator is held to a higher standard than a "normal" editor. They are supposed to be calm, and avoid getting angry: an angry admin will do the wrong thing, like edit warring or blocking a user: blocking is required sometimes, but only when it is the logical thing, the right thing to do - not just because an editor has pissed you off.
I'm not going to add any more to that list - but in your previous RfA, the first opposer suggested that you get admin coaching. I would suggest that this would be a good idea if you are serious. You may have been an admin on your school wiki, but there is a vast difference between that and Wikipedia: the scope of Wikipedia is so much larger (more than 3 million articles, almost 19 million pages in total, over 11 million registered users... it's a big wiki!) - and being admin isn't just about knowing how to use the tools, but when to use them - and just as importantly, when not to use them.
I hope you keep your keenness, and perhaps we'll see you with another RfA (hopefully not self-nominated, as some people really don't like those!) in several months (or longer) after some admin coaching. Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 21:46, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
To add to what Phantomsteve said: Adminship is not really about the technical ability to press buttons, and it's not really about "do we trust you not to accidentally break the wiki" or "not deleting the main page, as those are the easy parts of being an admin. The hard parts, the parts people are looking at in RFA discussions are
  1. Knowing the rules inside and out, including the changes that just happened yesterday, or at least knowing what you don't know and not making decisions in ignorance.
  2. Having judgment on administrative calls that is at least close to historical judgment. Is your definition of a no-consensus AFD close at least close to what most people expect it to be? If you would routinely no-consensus-close something with 5 deletes and 1 keep, and the merits of the discussions greatly favored deletion, you shouldn't be an admin, or at least you shouldn't be closing AFDs.
  3. Having good people skills. This means the ability to be calm, cool, and collected and have good written English skills. It also means the ability to communicate with editors who may not be calm, cool, or collected and whose first language is not English.
Several editors have their own "criteria for adminship" that they use in RFAs. I have a partial list at User:Davidwr/RFAs#Other' takes on RFAs. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 01:54, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Also, I have to add, you really should wait until you graduate High School before applying to be an admin on Wikipedia, so maybe a couple of years to go yet. Elen of the Roads (talk) 01:57, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi MisterWiki. Pichilemu

Pichilemu looks much improved. I'll leave the new GA review to someone else. But I thought I'd offer some observations on the rewrite in case it helps:

  • The intro is very short. WP:MOS says that it should summarize the whole article, but the current intro doesn't say much.
  • There are still several paragraphs lacking references, especially in Important places.
  • The English usage is better but is still a little rough in places (e.g. "it have 5 Historic Monuments", "Surfing is one of the most biggest tourist draws").
  • I would remove the statement "This article have content extracted from the Spanish and the German Wikipedia." Other Wikipedia articles cannot be used as sources and putting in statements like this implies that you have used these as sources.
  • The statement "Pichilemu is commonly called the South American version of California's Santa Cruz" is still using Pichilemu-based web sites as references. That is almost certainly going to be seen as biased by a reviewer.
  • The article still uses lists a lot. In general lists are discouraged in favor of just having discussions about the items in the prose.
  • There is still not really much discussion of the city's government, economy, and culture (e.g. annual festivals, religion, traditions, etc.). A reviewer might pass it without these but I think most reviewers would say that the article doesn't cover the topic broadly enough.

Anyway, good luck.

Hello. Just wanted to let you know that I have declined [10] your protection request for the Microsoft Word article. Additionally Wikipedia's official policy on Image use indicates that icons should be in svg format (which is presumably why Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc. have icons in the correct, preferred image format), so I am somewhat troubled by the fact that you have twice reverted ([11], [12]) the article back to your own uploaded png version. — Kralizec! OK, I know you added it again, but why? I mean, I'll even take the little's explanation to mean that you have a valid reason. Just give me a sentence, a phrase, a few words... anything. Try as I might, I can't understand why you think the article in its current state reads as an advertisement, and you haven't given me any clues to go by. 24.148.0.83 (talk) 01:45, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Rollback usage

Please be careful when using rollback. You can see at WP:ROLLBACK that (with rare exceptions) it is only to be used to rollback obvious vandalism. If you have to explain to someone why an edit is vandalism, then it is not obvious vandalism, and rollback should not be used. In the last four days, you have used rollback several times, including these inappropriate cases: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Prior to #6, you added an {{advert}} tag to Michael Dobson (author) (with no explanation other than "Added {{advert}} tag to article using Friendly"). An editor then undid your edit with summary "rvt - could you explain that a little better, please? I don't see how anything here is advertising anything", and you then reverted the undo with no explanation. Rollback must not be used for cases like that. Johnuniq (talk) 03:13, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

OK, sorry, I will be more careful using rollback :) --MisterWiki talk contribs 03:54, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
I note that you continue to use the revert rollback feature to revert content edits: [13], [14]; as well as the revert feature of Twinkle: [15], [16]. The latter two diffs could also be interpreted as personal attacks, given that the edit summaries assert that certain edits are vandalism. I suggest you closely study WP:NPA, WP:EW, and WP:REVERT unless you want to find yourself losing access to tools. — ækTalk 23:19, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, you want to fix the image, the bar-code is still visible even after you uploaded another one. You should change the address within the article's infobox and make it read the newer version's image-address.--Harout72 (talk) 02:29, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

It's just a lag from the server. I will make it 1 pixel bigger and will work. I fixed the image just some minutes before your image got deleted. --MisterWiki talk contribs 02:31, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure what's going on but the side bar-code is still there, let me know if you want me to re-upload it.--Harout72 (talk) 02:47, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

No, reuploading it doesn't changes anything, I tried. We'll have to wait some time :) --MisterWiki talk contribs 02:50, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

It would have changed by now if anything was going to change. I meant re-uploading a newer version by entering a slightly different wording would solve this, for example, "Modern Talking-Last Exit to Brooklyn.jpg" instead of "Modern_Talking_-_Last_Exit_To_Brooklyn_Frontal.jpg", and we'll post the one we have for deletion. --Harout72 (talk) 03:06, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

There's no need Harout72, just wait until the server fix the problem ;) --MisterWiki talk contribs 03:09, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Just use Ctrl Shift R. ;)--MisterWiki talk contribs 03:43, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: After School (band)

Hello MisterWiki, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of After School (band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not previously been deleted via a deletion discussion. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 23:06, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

WP:CSD#G4 only applies if the previous deletion was by AfD, not speedy or PROD. This article has been speedied, but was undeleted by the deleting admin after this discussion with a user who plans to clean it up. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 23:10, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
OK, but if that user doesn't clean up the article, I will tag it again as {{db-spam}} --MisterWiki talk contribs 23:11, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

weird AFD vote

It's weird to leave a !vote to your own AFD, since it's fait accompli. I first thought you had left the !vote as "delete as nom", which makes a little sense, though still unnecessary. However, putting it in there as "delete as nom" starts to look fishy. tedder (talk) 19:19, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

You made some claims about an article (Guitaret) I made, and I don't know why you made them

Hi - you have flagged a number of issues on a page I created (Guitaret) and made several additions to. Can you please explain why they were made? - you suggested that there was a problem with notability, but it is a musical instrument at least as significant as many others for which there are established wiki pages. In addition there has been a Dutch Wikipedia article on it since 2006. I could have just translated the Dutch one but I wanted to do it properly. It has been featured in several commercially-released motion picture and documentary soundtracks, has been, and was considered sufficiently significant to include as a sample in a major sample release. It has been featured on recent recordings by Brian Eno, David Byrne and Nick Cave as well as a number of Indie European artists. If people want to know what a particular sound is, they will go to Wikipedia to find out (I did) and they need an article there. - I made it as neutral a tone as possible. I have quoted from the manual and the publicity material from Hohner (1963) - you suggested spam, but all the lists were assembled by me with great care over a substantial period of time

Can you please tell me why you made those claims? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DiarmuidPigott (talkcontribs) 05:54, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

The article needs a clean up, is confusing and needs to be expanded, Wikipedia is not a collection of external links, don't post them again, and is not a gallery, please remove some. --MisterWiki talk contribs 06:12, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Lists

Rather than telling me what not to do, could you tell me how to go about doing the same thing correctly?

I followed the example on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clavinet which feature 63 such references/galleries.

If I made a separate page of "people who play guitaret" I would agree it might not be sufficiently noteworthy. DiarmuidPigott (talk) 06:23, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Guitaret page inappropriate editing

How can you say an article needs expansion, when you just removed most of it?

The information you removed was where the notes are on the instrument (standard for articles on instruments) how to hold the instrument (also standard for articles on instruments) performers (also standard for articles on instruments), performance (again, standard for articles on instruments) and recordings (also standard for articles on instruments). —Preceding unsigned comment added by DiarmuidPigott (talkcontribs) 06:38, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

You can't use all of these copyrighted things. Leave the article alone. --MisterWiki talk contribs 13:43, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

You are simply not discussing this at all. You are acting arbitrarily in a way that is unjustified. I have had no recourse but to refer this for mediation and lodged a complaint against you as an uncivil editor. I notice that this is not the first time it has happened to you DiarmuidPigott (talk) 15:45, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

When it says "self made" in your fair use rationale templates, do you actually mean that they were scanned by yourself? Self made and scanned are not the same. bibliomaniac15 22:25, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Note

Please don't hound new users, as you did in this afd. Make your point once, there's no need to reply to every comment and to shout, calling them spammers and make assumptions of bad faith. It leaves a very sour taste for new users who are just starting to contribute. Just think of how that had felt if someone had done it to you in your first article. henriktalk 10:41, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

It was just pointed out that you struck other people's comments in that AFD (here and here). Striking other people's good faith comments is entirely unacceptable, and you should consider yourself lucky I did not see it before I left the above comment. That kind of action borders on being disruption worthy of blocks. Please don't let me see you pull stunts like that in the future.
Look, I'm sure you mean well, but enforcing the rules properly, especially when you interact with new users, requires a great deal of maturity and patience. Newbies are not expected to know every rule. It's okay that they make mistakes. It's perfectly understandable that they start writing about subjects close to them. Our job here is to help nurture them into great editors, not drive them away for some silly little mistake or for breaking some obscure rule they didn't know about. henriktalk 15:36, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

The 2010 WikiCup begins tomorrow!

Welcome to the biggest WikiCup Wikipedia has yet seen! Round one will take place over two months, and finish on February 26. There is only one pool, and the top 64 will progress. The competition will be tough, as more than half of the current competitors will not make it to round 2. Details about scoring have been finalized and are explained at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. Please make sure you're familiar with the scoring rules, because any submissions made that violate these rules will be removed. Like always, the judges can be reached through the WikiCup talk pages, on their talk page, or over IRC with any issues concerning anything tied to the Cup. We will keep in contact with you via weekly newsletters; if you do not want to receive them, please remove yourself from the list here. Conversely, if a non-WikiCup participant wishes to receive the newsletters, they may add themselves to that list. Well, enough talk- get writing! Your submission's page is located here. Details on how to submit your content is located here, so be sure to check that out! Once content has been recognized, it can be added to your submissions page, from which our bot will update the main score table. Remember that only articles worked on and nominated during the competition are eligible for points. Have fun, and good luck! Garden, iMatthew, J Milburn, and The ed17 19:21, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
