France vs. Honduras

edit

I don't see any reason to include the France vs. Honduras game in the List of 2014 FIFA World Cup controversies. It's incorrect that the goal-line technology credited it as an own-goal. The goal-line technology was primarily used to determine whether there was a goal or not on the play. If anything, it was beset with confusion because at first the technology showed 'No goal' as the ball hit the post, but then showed 'Goal' as the ball had touched the goalkeeper. But right now, that section fails to mention anything close to a controversy and is just a short description of what happened. Heymid (contribs) 10:15, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

France vs. Honduras

edit

Thanks for your comments Heymid, I have updated the comments with another link. Goal-line technology determined it was a goal scored by the Goalkeeper, so it can be assumed that it is an own-goal.

Thanks for your additions. The section could use some more expansion, with notes about the BBC's confusions for example, but now I'm satisfied enough to keep the section. Cheers, Heymid (contribs) 10:30, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

African Sports

Hello Utube,

I see you are updating the article about Athletics African Championships.

Can I ask you if you follow all sports, and if you support your Nation (Nigeria?) in all of them?

If you do, I would like to invite you on a community about Olympic Sports where we gather sport fans from all around the world to discuss about all Olympic Sports and be always updated about all sport events daily. Would you be interested ? :)

Let me know.

Thanks!

Thanks for uploading File:2014 African Championships in Athletics Logo.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

South Africa national under-17 football team

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of South Africa national under-17 football team, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: South Africa national under-20 football team. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:00, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.   Hello UtubeGodwin, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Lagos has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 17:44, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jaylen Bacon

edit

The article Jaylen Bacon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This page appears to be WP:TOO SOON with only one win listed and only one source.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as South African Polo Association, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images from either web sites or printed works. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:South African Polo Association saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Boxing Australia into South African National Boxing Organisation. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:44, 19 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your comments User:Justlettersandnumbers, on the copying or moving text from Boxing Australia into South African National Boxing Organisation is noted. If you observe closely you will realize that the supposedly 'offending' test have little or no relevance to the overall scheme of things in the new article and will be eventually removed after more edits which has been done. Thanks for your observation. My regards. UtubeGodwin (talk) 18:06, 19 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Nigerian national football team managerial role

edit

Do not edit the managerial roles in the Super Eagles page as any information rather than that may be misleading. For the first time since 1994, The Super Eagles has a tecnical advicer who is in charge of the international matches and a head coach who is in charge of the home-based Super Eagles as well as the CHAN tournament. Michaelgodstimeake (talk) 01:03, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comments, albeit a little condescending IMO. Your understanding of the history of the Nigeria national football team is suspect to say the least. The title of Technical Advicer has been in use since the 1989 era of Clemens Westerhof and your edit is factually incorrect as the official titles of the coaches in question are Gernot Rohr - Technical Adviser, Super Eagles; and Salisu Yusuf - Chief Coach. I will advice you to reference your claims that put Gernot Rohr as Technical adviser(Senior coach) and Salisu Yusuf as Head coach (sic), if you don't want the corrected entries to be put back. Kindly refer to all other CAF assistant coaches who double as CHAN or Senior Team A/B coach to keep you abreast of developments across the continent whereby none of them is put on the wiki page as National Team Coach that you want Salisu Yusuf to be such addressed, My regards, as I await your references.

Nigeria is the first country who have had both a technical director and a head coach with the head coach in charge of home-based continental competitions and the technical director in charge of continental and international 1st class FIFA recognized competitions. Michaelgodstimeake (talk) 05:21, 25 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

FYI Bitrus Bewarang is the Technical Director and Gernot Rohr is Head Coach with Salisu Yusuf the Assistant Coach. Kindly revert to the corrected entries that is uncomplicated and not duplicating roles since you have no reference to your unsubstantiated claims. Regards. 2018 African Championships in Athletics high jump

edit

Hello. You reverted my edits correcting the medals in the women's high jump at the 2018 African Championships in Athletics to those supported by the official results but these don't seem to be valid. Just take a look at this article from IAAF and these results which both declare Nonhlanhla Seyama as the winner. She was also called up for the Africa team for the 2018 IAAF Continental Cup together with Hoda Hagras. Finally, take a look at the photo of the medallists; it shows Hagras, Seyama and Ariyat Dibow.

Unfortunately, this edition of the championships was notorious for erroneous results and the official versions can't be trusted in many cases. I'm going to restore my changes now including some of these refs. All the best, Pietaster (talk) 19:18, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

You can look at this CAA article as well as this photo but the controversies still persist. Unfortunately, the photo link you posted above is dead. UtubeGodwin (talk)

Here's the photo link again, it should work this time. The article on the CAA website is likely based on their own official results, so they may not be aware of the problem. As for the Getty photo you linked, it actually shows the Egyptian Hoda Hagras who competes fully clothed. You can see in this photo from the 2014 edition that Siba Ghizlane looks different and wears regular athletics clothing. Pietaster (talk) 21:45, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

T20 T20Is

edit

Hi, regarding your revert. T20 or T20I the multiple of 1000 runs added wherever they happened apart from Trivial ones. Example, 1) Kohli got to his 7000th T20 run during NZ home series in 2017 that was added 2) Gayle reached his 14000th T20 run during AUS home series in 2021 or so that was also added 3) Also Kohli reached his 8000, 9500, 10000 runs in T20s during IPL and Gayle 11000, 12000, 13000 during CPL, BPL so they're added in the Domestic League articles. 4) If the third case were happened during an International match, that would have also added by our previous editors in the T20International articles.

T20I runs Domestic League runs (<20 overs) = T20 runs I know you're aware of that. If you're feeling like "All day you're adding, 1000, 2000 and 4000 in domestic league articles. No buddy, for 3000 because he reached there during an international match, so not take that into account.", What is the point in that? Kirubar (talk) 06:38, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
