edits to chilote mythology

edit

I've noted your edits to Chilote mythology which add some new material to the articles. It would be useful if you cite your sources when you add new material, otherwise, material which you edit may be subject to removal because they haven't been sourced and all your efforts left for nothing.

Also I can't understand your latest entry:

To kill to the Basislico chilote, it is necessary to burn the malicious egg; and if the Basislico chilote was already born, single already can be assassinated if it is burned the house in where attacks and lives the Basislico chilote

If you want to, give me the idea in Spanish and I'll see if we can put it into a better form, but as it stands now in English, it doesn't make much sense. Add your reply here, I'll watch this page for a few days. --JAXHERE | Talk 16:43, 27 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello.

All information that I add comes from translations of the articles of wikipedia in Spanish; which is wikipedia of the original language of Chiloé, and therefore it contains the original and more correct versions of these legends. In addition I come from this zone.

If there are some errors in the translation(my level of English is intermediate), you can correct seeing them these articles in wikipedia in Spanish --Urco 20:41, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I believe that my would be good also for translating these articles of wikipedia in Spanish.--Urco 20:52, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Doubt, version: Trauco an alien? and in Chiloé (mytological origin), descendants of extraterrestrials?. In articles in Spanish does not exist any relation with extraterrestrial- --Urco 21:13, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

While it is helpful in translating a wiki from another language into the English version, we have to be careful in placing too much trust into the value of that information.
Wikipedia does not consider another Wikipedia article to be a valid reference source for information, but prefers to have information which has been published in some other form ... the highest being some acedemic publication which was prepared by some authority in the field. If the foreign language version of an article doesn't have such references, (or, even worse doesn't have any) the translation will be of lesser value.
If the translation you do contains any references, the best plan is to first check the reference (if you can) to confirm that the information from it is correctly used in the article, and then mention this source in the English article in the references or source section.
Regarding your doubt about the Trauco and the other article all of the material I added came from:
Martinez Vilches, Oscar, Chiloe Misterioso (in Spanish). Pub. Ediciones de la Voz de Chiloe (circa 1998)
but I ommitted to add this into the articles as a reference source as I did in Coi Coi-Vilu. I think I realized that I should be including sources after I started adding material about the myths and simply forgot to get around to doing this. (Now I've got another item on my to-do list.)
By the way, I find your English quite good, but it is sometime difficult to express some complex ideas into an understandable translation. I probably get into the same sort of trouble when I try to translate from English into Spanish. --JAXHERE | Talk 16:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Mythic animals

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Mythic animals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Deeringothamnus

edit

The article Deeringothamnus has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The genus Deeringothamnus is no longer recognized, in light of phylogenetics which places Deeringothamnus into the genus Asimina. https://doi.org/10.3159/TORREY-D-14-00045.1

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
