Orphaned non-free image (Image:DTfontlogonew.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:DTfontlogonew.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:03, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:NGU.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NGU.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:56, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Teixeira picture

edit

Just wanted to say, nice picture of Mark Teixeira you got. I've added quite a few Braves' player photos myself (including Salty). I would have loved to have been there tonight but I was busy.►Chris Nelson 04:09, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I was really excited when I was watching it, I was hoping Bobby would pinch-hit him. I love the moves Scheurholz made yesterday. I'll probably end up at the game Thursday, can't wait to see Tex in action.►Chris Nelson 04:12, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I just saw your pic as someone's profile pic on facebook, haha! ►Chris Nelson 19:19, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

FeCl3 Cl2

edit

It would be reassuring to see a ref on the structure of the Cl2/FeCl3 adduct to reassure readers that this suggestion is substantiated with evidence vs chem folklore. The Fe would be tetrahedral most likely. And the picture implies that it is the bound Cl of the Cl2 that is the electrophilic one, etc, etc. --Smokefoot (talk) 16:45, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think that I've seen the same sort of things that you mention, I was just curious about any evidence. It's standard fare and the thrust of your edits seemed positive. Happy editing, --Smokefoot (talk) 18:51, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Dinnerparty.png

Duplicate Image:Triphenylmethanol-synth.jpg

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Triphenylmethanol-synth.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Triphenylmethanol-synth.jpg is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

Imidazole

edit

Hello. You've written this: "Imidazole is highly polar compound, as evidenced by the many dipolar resonance structures ", which I don't think is correct. Just becaue it has many dipolar resonance structures it is not necessarily polar - they might all cancel each other out for example - so I've removed this sentence. Chris (talk) 14:43, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I reinstated the resonance picture, since we don't have anything better at present. I removed it initially because the arrow-pushing in particular can fool inexperienced readers that dont understand the fiction that is implicit in such images. A preferrable image would lack the curved arrows because nothing moves. Thanks for reminding me of my ill-advised deletion and accept my apologies if my edit seemed offensive.--Smokefoot (talk) 14:56, 22 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Na2MO4

edit

Since you seem interested, I offer some comments that you can take or leave. Na2MoO4 is not an ion pair, it is an infinite polymer (few among us can draw such species, the reigning guru being User:Benjah-bmm27) Of course many people draw such cartoons for related species. The Mo=O and Mo-O- parts are of course equivalent (you know that, I am sure, since you like resonance). And finally, it's tetrahedral (d0 species tend to have point-on-sphere geometries). Again, do what you want with these comments. It's great to see you contributing. --Smokefoot (talk) 03:29, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

well, the picture you present is indeed a great improvement over the what was there before, so the article was improved with your change. One step at a time. A further refinement of my comments (before someone jumps on me as well), the Mo-O contacts are usually considered to have significant triple bond character. And these structures of course depend on hydration, etc. The pic is fine and maybe, in some ways, superior to the almost impossible-to-fathom solid state structures. Most readers, like you, just want to know what is in soln. Kind of a picky point, overall. If we get hung up on being perfect, then no one edits. --Smokefoot (talk) 04:18, 23 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of File:Texbraves.JPG

edit

The file File:Texbraves.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
