Devon & Somerset Fire Service

edit

Regarding your question - no connection with the fire service other than the fact that I live in Somerset. I made the change because I saw an announcement that the two brigades were merging. I have an interest in keeping local articles updated so thought I'd make the change. --Cheesy Mike 01:30, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I like the additions you have made to the page. I made some small style tweaks, I hope you don't mind. b.t.w a full list of Devon & Somerset appliances can be found online if you also want to add to the list of appliances in Somerset. --Cheesy Mike 11:51, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

GFDL

edit

Could you possibly get the Devon and Somerset fire service to change their website to reflect the fact their pictures are available under the GFDL? The GFDL is a free license, meaning no payment is provided for use of the images, but the images must be properly attributed to the author. Thanks once again for your contributions. -N 12:37, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

City of London

edit

Thanks for your addition to the City of London article regarding the fire brigade. Can I just mention that the City of London is not a London borough. Greater London consists of thirty two, not thirty three, London boroughs and the City of London. Just a little local government anomaly/trivia really. I've edited your addition to the City's article accordingly. David (talk) 22:52, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Devon & Somerset Fire Service

edit

hi where do you get your info from for Devon & Somerset Fire Service.

A combination of places - my own knowledge; I used to work for the Service up until last year -the DSFRS website - and other various sources. I am assuming, as you have left no name or Wiki login, you are referrring to Lundy Island and how many fire strations DSFRS operate. Lundy bears (85) as its station number - only since June 9th has Luncy become an official fire station. I was unaware of this until today - if any changes had been sourced and quoted I wouldnt have changed it. --Samiddon (talk) 18:12, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Station 59 - Service Headquarters

edit

hi how do you know it is 59 and it is wholetime olny Wrcf1 (talk) 19:42, 25 March 2009 (UTC

It isn't wholetime only; it is crewed by personnel from wholetime and retained stations. I know it is station 59 from my time working in Control - although it never used to be classed as a station. I think it is now because they have a purpose built USAR base there.Squirrel684 (talk) 19:58, 25 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Nucleus fire station, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.wiltshirefirebrigade.com/About_Us/Find_Local_Sation/find_local_station.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. Kent fire and rescue service

edit

Hi,

You altered my edit to say Dartford fire station has 2 water tenders and a water tender rescue ladder, this is incorrect. It has one water tender and one water tender rescue ladder.

I believe you read this on the appliance list from the website, however this is innacurate, as it lists some appliances as 'reserve', then lists some that are reserves just as 'pump'.

Image transfer

edit

Hi Squirrel684

A bot will tell you in time but I didn't want an impersonal bot to be the first to tell you. Your image File:Snow February 2009 M5.jpg has now been transfered to Wikimedia Commons and can now be found as Commons:File:Snow February 2009 M5.jpg. It can still be used in exactly the same way as images here with the added advantage it can also be used by any sister wikis that needs an image on the subject and reduces the number of images loaded to en:wiki. If you are happy to continue releasing images under GDFL, why not consider loading directly to Commons, the process is pretty much the same and with SUL you will probably already have an account at Commons.KTo288 (talk) 18:29, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Infobox UK Fire and Rescue

edit

Hello! I wanted to chat with you about the {{Infobox UK Fire and Rescue}}. A quick look at the history of that template shows that you were a major contributor. There is currently an ongoing conversation about merging this template with that of {{Infobox fire department}}. Consensus seems to be leaning in favor of merging and I wanted to chat with you about it. My main question for you is do you feel that {{Infobox fire department}} has the necessary fields or do you feel that it is missing things that should be added IF it is to be used instead of {{Infobox UK Fire and Rescue}}? I am very familiar with the fire service, but as a resident of the US, I have only been focused on departments in the US. My main concern is WP:WORLDVIEW... I KNOW that I have a certain bias towards the US because I am a US resident. So just want to make sure that this template truly is usable world wide. Any feedback you have would be most appreciated. Thanks so much and hope you are having a great day! --Zackmann08 (talk) 18:49, 12 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:LargeMan4x2.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:LargeMan4x2.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 02:16, 6 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
