Administrators' newsletter – October 2024
editNews and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2024).
- Administrator elections are a proposed new process for selecting administrators, offering an alternative to requests for adminship (RfA). The first trial election will take place in October 2024, with candidate sign-up from October 8 to 14, a discussion phase from October 22 to 24, and SecurePoll voting from October 25 to 31. For questions or to help out, please visit the talk page at Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections.
- Following a discussion, the speedy deletion reason "File pages without a corresponding file" has been moved from criterion G8 to F2. This does not change what can be speedily deleted.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether there is a consensus to have an administrator recall process.
- The arbitration case Historical elections has been closed.
- An arbitration case regarding Backlash to diversity and inclusion has been opened.
- Editors are invited to nominate themselves to serve on the 2024 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission until 23:59 October 8, 2024 (UTC).
- If you are interested in stopping spammers, please put MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist and MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist on your watchlist, and help out when you can.
Does this convince you? Maybe we became friends!
editHi Championmin from a balmy spring evening in Melbourne.
Alas, I can read almost nothing of the Persian language outside of what Ustad Sahib Google Translate tells me.
Could you possibly look into this?
Peter in Australia aka Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 11:50, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply] ×××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××
My mental breakthroughs:
My first (I was upset by your words here):
I'm sorry. that's my best try! go with it if you see it! Championmin (talk) 17:20, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My second (I'm angry and rude here):
Oh, I forgot to say that I wrote this for you with Google Translate. It was not worth typing! Championmin (talk) 17:26, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My third (I calmed down and confessed, And I ran away with "bye"):
Apart from the tongue wound, to be honest, I use Google because I'm a bit lazy and my grammar is not good. At the same time, I spend my idle time with wiki. I have no other entertainment at the moment. In any case, my translation is like machine, you are correct. bye Championmin (talk) 17:34, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My fourth (It occurred to me to enlighten you about lit. name etc):
To be honest, "Operation Farmandeh Kole Ghowa" means "Commander-in-Chief Operation" (I have said in the first line of the article (lit. etc)), but I didn't translate it because it was a specific name for the operation. That is, if you tell an Iranian official in the United Nations: "Operation Farmandeh Kole Ghowa", he knows what you are saying. But if you tell him "Commander-in-Chief Operation", he says I don't know and gets lost in the crowd. Difference requires compromise and forgiveness from things that the other party does not have. Meanwhile, as an Iranian, I am only willing to meet you at the UN. You go to the judge one way. I lose unfairly. 10 < 100. This is known. But if you come to Tehran, I can tell you the pure meaning of Rumi's Persian poems. There are several coffee shops on our street. I usually go to the street every few hours and smoke a cigarette. People smile. It is commuting. Have a nice evening if it is evening there. It's night here with these words... Championmin (talk) 18:11, 4 October 2024 (UTC) Championmin (talk) 18:13, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
My 5th (I continued, ):
- If you say: Commander-in-Chief to an ordinary Iranian, he will put it in the dictionary. There, it means the leader. Then an ordinary Iranian thinks that you are talking about the leader of his/her country. They are very prejudiced. But not me, I am not interested in politics. I collect knowledge and love with myself and others only to deliver to others (smile! یادت میاد؟). Championmin (talk) 18:22, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
My 6th (I wanted to be mysterious here, But if you translated this with Google Translate, you would understand that I am a very simple person):
- ممنون میشم اگه جواب بدی، با نوشتن اینا به شوق امدم و تپش قلب گرفته ام.
- use ustad sahib ... i say Ostad Saheb. It means that it teaches things to you (>ustad) and owns you (>sahib)! Championmin (talk) 18:27, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
My next and next and next... Go with it :)
- It teaches things to me, yes (my Ostad lit. my master), but he does not own me (no sahib!)
- My owner is the space in which I walk. The space where sounds and pictures are transmitted in it, is the place that raised me. That's my God. I can't escape from her. Wherever I go, I am inside it, the space around me swallowed me. The space around me includes: People, sounds, pavement, air, cars, my computer, wiki and also you ... every thing you can see, everything is created from the same basic material: life force. You are walking in the unity.
- >>>I have learned these ^ from Rumi. Eight hundred years ago, he lived around here.
- If I want to tell you about other cultures that I researched: Don Juan (teacher of Carlos Castaneda) says: The universe is a living thing. The universe is female. She is the mother and the creator of every human being.
- me?
- She creates time for you by moving the planets according to a great intelligence. If we remove all objects, only black matter remains. Black matter is nothingness. When there is no planet to move, the existence of time expires. When the sole of your foot is on the black matter, In fact, you have stepped on nowhere, if there is no time and no place (space), Well, you will no longer exist, Your body is "your place" (space) and your mind is "your time".
- The universe as a whole wants to communicate with you. She can talk to you through the mouths of all people, see you through the eyes of all people, and hear you through the ears of all people. Before you and me, She owns everything. She created all the facilities, so She owns them all. It is your owner too. It also own me. She is typing these words for you with Championmin's hand! They say that you should train under a good master for several years before facing the universe as the whole. The whole is too cruel to tell the truth. She has no human characteristics. In fact, She created human characteristics, She herself is different from it. Indians call her (universe) the great oppressor. universe as Forest lion, you as A deer that does not know is a deer. You will definitely be hunted. Championmin (talk) 19:12, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

Aisxulos
editYou left a gentle and constructive message about OR at User talk:Aisxulos back on 12 October. Today they've made the same problematic (well, downright wrong) edit with the same summary[1], and still haven't edited any talk page. Do you want to follow up in some way? I've tried edit summaries, the article talk page, the editor's talk page and ANI and have quite run out of ideas. I suppose we can just keep reverting. NebY (talk) 16:46, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in a research
editHello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,

Administrators' newsletter – December 2024
editNews and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2024).
Interface administrator changes
- Following an RFC, the policy on restoration of adminship has been updated. All former administrators may now only regain the tools following a request at the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard within 5 years of their most recent admin action. Previously this applied only to administrators deysopped for inactivity.
- Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, T5, has been enacted. This applies to template subpages that are no longer used.
- Technical volunteers can now register for the 2025 Wikimedia Hackathon, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Application for travel and accommodation scholarships is open from November 12 to December 10, 2024.
- The arbitration case Yasuke (formerly titled Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has been closed.
- An arbitration case titled Palestine-Israel articles 5 has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 14 December.
Additional request regarding the contents of the /list page I had requested the deletion of
editIt's been a long while since I've been here, and finding that template I just used was difficult enough, even if it didn't take me long to find it (I guessed at the words to search for). To get right to the point; the first user on that list made some visual-shock edits to a few user talk pages. I don't know if you're capable of seeing them, but I would advise against that. Instead, like some edits that were made to my talk page that I cannot view the diffs of anymore, I would like to request those revisions be scrubbed from the talk pages in question that I reference above.
The edits are absolutely not safe for work. At least where rendered content is considered. But again; it's been a long time. I don't know or remember what the rules are for deletion of diffs.
TL;DR: An indef-blocked account made visual-shock edits to a few user talk pages and I'm requesting those edits be removed from the history. I don't know how to make that request other than to post on an admin's talk page.
Thank you for your time. Daedalus969 (talk) 10:53, 4 December 2024 (UTC)

WANEGBT
editHi. I noticed you deleted one of the redirects I made for Taylor Swift's songs, WANEGBT, which is an acronym for We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. I also created YBWM and IKYWT, which redirected to You Belong with Me and I Knew You Were Trouble.
I understand these redirects were deleted in 2015; however, nowadays many of Swift's songs are known by acronyms of its titles. A Google search of WANEGBT, for instance, yields similar results to those of the full song title. Also, Wikipedia already has LWYMMD as a redirect to Look What You Made Me Do, so why can't her other songs have redirects from acronyms?
Could these redirects be restored, if possible? Caipira23 (talk) 18:09, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
