Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Ahmad Shah Massoud
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Ahmad Shah Massoud requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://wiki.alquds.edu/?query=Ahmad_Shah_Massoud, http://www.theinfolist.com/php/SummaryGet.php?FindGo=Ahmed Shah Massoud, and https://epo.wikitrans.net/Ahmad_Shah_Massoud. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. DIVINE 📪 21:42, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- These sites are clearly Wikipedia mirrors. User should be more judicious is their application of speedy deletion tags. RightQuark (talk) 20:08, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Islamic State – Khorasan Province into Draft:Abu Saad Erhabi. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:01, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, but you'll notice that WP:NOTATT specifies that the sole author of the copied content need not attribute their own work - which is the case here. RightQuark (talk) 17:36, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Technically attribution is not needed if you are the sole author. Sorry I did not realize that was the case with this edit. So it might be useful for patrollers such as myself if you had included the attribution edit summary regardless. — Diannaa (talk) 21:07, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
The file File:Abdul Haseeb Logari.jpg has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the file should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Abdul Haseeb Logari.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Abdul Haseeb Logari.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:03, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

How are you editing so fast?
editI was listening to edits on listen.hatnote.com and couldn't help but notice you dropped dozens of edits at once on Pakistani tehsil articles. I also noticed the edits don't have an AutoWikiBrowser tag, so how did you submit so many edits at once, manually? Kind regards, Wilhelm Tell DCCXLVI (talk to me!/my edits) 10:23, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm too simple to have explored the AutoWikiBrowser yet, so just a combination of Ctrl V, Shift Tab, and Ctrl Enter. Hope I didn't send your hatnote audio into an allegro. RightQuark (talk) 10:30, 19 March 2024 (UTC)

Tribes
editPlease see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (ethnicities and tribes). Based on that I've moved those three back as there is no need for a disambiguation. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:04, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- I noticed WP:NCET doesn't have anything to say about parenthetical disambiguation. This naming convention specifies that article names, in most cases, should be "Quraysh" not "Quraysh Tribe" and "Navajo" not "Navajo Tribe". The goal here is not to rename "Salarzai" to "Salarzai Tribe" as a more accurate title, it is to parenthetically disambiguate in certain cases where tribes and administrative subdivisions share, and are referred to by, the same name. Similarly, WP finds it acceptable to name an article "Orange (fruit)" but not "Orange fruit". You'll also find few articles named "X Tribe" but 378 articles named "X (tribe)". Open to your thoughts. Thanks! RightQuark (talk) 01:31, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- The box at the end of the section Wikipedia:Naming conventions (ethnicities and tribes)#General conventions and disambiguation mentions parenthetical disambiguation. My feeling is that Mamund doesn't need to disambiguate with (tribe) as there is nothing to confuse it with. The one possibility is that Mamud is singular and would need moving to the plural. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 12:37, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- You're right, WP:NCET does actually mention parenthetical disambiguation. All it says about it is "In some cases, parenthetical disambiguation will be necessary, especially when there are more than one ethnic group that share a name." This supports that parenthetical disambiguation is permitted, when appropriate, and is not countermanded by the naming convention. You state there is nothing to confuse it with, the only reason I've parenthetically disambiguated Mamund, Salarzai, et al., and not all the tribes, is because they can be (and are often) confused with the administrative subdivisions for which they serve as an exact eponym. When one hears or searches the terms Wazir, Mamund, Salarzai, Alizai (as opposed to Durrani, Karlani) it is unclear whether the reference is to the tribe or the administrative subdivision of the exact same names. I'm not sure what you mean that "Mamund is singular and would need moving to the plural." This is a simple example of no-WP:PTOPIC parenthetical disambiguation and this reversion is unnecessarily disruptive. RightQuark (talk) 03:03, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Some things. If "Mamund" (and other) redirects to "Mamund (tribe)" (and others) then it indicates that there is no need for a parenthetical disambiguation, and that Mamund, the tribe is the primary topic. Or "Mamund" should be changed from a redirect to a disambiguation page. Either way I think a move discussion for all of these pages is now required to deal with them. I could also suggest that moving them from a long standing title to an unneeded disambiguation was also "unnecessarily disruptive". However, I took it that you, as was I, were working in good faith. Your contributed article, Kakki Tehsil
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Kakki Tehsil. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Kakki 1. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Kakki 1. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. AusLondonder (talk) 11:15, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Kakki Tehsil and Kakki Union Council/Town (Kakki I) are just as separate as the city of Bannu is from Bannu Tehsil, Bannu Tehsil from Bannu District, and Bannu District from Bannu Division. To conflate the Tehsil and town/Union Council would be to submit the article Dallas County for deletion as a duplicate of Dallas. Simply sharing a name is insufficient grounds to allege duplication. RightQuark (talk) 11:54, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- The content is nearly identical and your article has no sources. If the content was different it wouldn't be an issue. The articles Dallas and Dallas County are completely different and are both well-sourced. AusLondonder (talk) 13:24, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi, I see you restored this back to mainspace. It remains completely unsourced though. All articles need sourcing for verifiability. Could you consider adding sources to articles you create? AusLondonder (talk) 11:19, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm also not sure these articles need to have tehsil in their name. AusLondonder (talk) 11:21, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, my goal is to organize the disjointed and generally poorly-written tehsil and district articles - many of which are stuck in various parts of NWFP/FATA/KPK historical evolution. This begins with building an orderly base each articles and then individually outfitting them with their unique histories, statistics, geographies, etc.
- Also, with regard to 'tehsil' in the article names, imagine them as U.S. counties. From the Kakki Tehsil confusion, it's clear that the reader will benefit from both use of the proper subdivision name, especially as these tehsils inherit the names of subordinate places and share them with higher. If the city name is Bannu, and we're to have the articles Bannu Division, Bannu District, why would we not label it Bannu Tehsil? Beyond place names, many of these share their names with resident tribes (Salarzai, Alizai, Wazir, etc.). RightQuark (talk) 12:05, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
Miryan Tehsil moved to draftspace
editThanks for your contributions to Miryan Tehsil. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Replaceable non-free use File:Mohammad Ayub Khalid.png
editThanks for uploading File:Mohammad Ayub Khalid.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:31, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
