Re:Image of Batt O'Keeffe

edit

The first one was obviously a negative campaigning poster- I took it that either the copyright did not belong to you, you were going to put it into an article (which would be inappropriate) or use it to campaign in the userspace- hence the soapbox thing. The second image was displaying the subject in a negative light- completely inappropriate for an infobox per our biographies of living people policy. It could be used in a (well sourced) section on opposition to the subject's policies/campaigning against the subject, but I thought deleting the images was the best option at that time to avoid any BLP issues. Thanks. I'm sorry if I came across as a little cold there, but BLP is a policy to be taken seriously. J Milburn (talk) 12:03, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Batt O'Keeffe

Wikipedia aims to be a serious, neutral intellectual resource which writes on its subjects in an accurate and respectful manner, and your attempts to compromise this by importing external conflicts won't be tolerated for much longer. Please take your negative advocacy elsewhere. east718 // talk // email // 12:56, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Blarney Brass and Reed Band

edit

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Blarney Brass and Reed Band, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://blarneybrassandreedband.wordpress.com/2011/02/22/history-of-the-blarney-brass-and-reed-band/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) File permission problem with File:Cork Institute of Technology - CIT.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Cork Institute of Technology - CIT.jpg, which you've attributed to Cork Institute of Technology. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 05:04, 4 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
