Re:your request on my talk page
editHi, Palaxzorodice. There are several issues with the Porcelain dish (Laboratory) page you created: First, no reliable source was provided for the information. Second, the first sentence appeared to be paraphrased from this unreliable source. Reliable sources are necessary for any article created on Wikipedia.
Finally, laboratory equipement is defined by function, not material. Common "dish" equipment is the evaporating dish and the crystallizing dish (less common is the calcining dish and drying dish), but all can be made of porcelain, pyrex, metal, or other materials. Separate articles are unnecessary for each material type -- just as separate articles are not needed for glass, porcelain, or plastic Büchner funnels although they have separate uses.
I suggest that a section for porcelain glassware for laboratory use may be needed for the Porcelain article. And if large enough, could be expanded to an article about Porcelain lab equipment -- so long as there are good reliable sources to reference. If you have further questions, please ask. — CactusWriter (talk) 18:47, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I will do some research on this porcelain dish article. Thanks for your reply. Palaxzorodice (talk) 07:37, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
RE About
editHi Palaxzorodice, The {{userpage}} template is used for mirror sites that basically copy Wikipedia onto their website, such as http://cern.dreab.com. Why they do this I don't know. The template is also used to tell a reader of Wikipedia that the user page is not an article, so they are not confused. Hope this answered your question. --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 13:43, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- I found the template by finding a userpage with it and copying the code by clicking 'edit this page'. This isn't the best way to do this, but it worked for me. Cheers! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 02:02, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! SarahStierch (talk) 03:56, 21 April 2012 (UTC) |
