Newsofap.com
Omer, the newsofap.com site has been declared as an unreliable source at Wikipedia:RSN#Newsofap.com. If you want to restore the 6 cities as sister cities of Hyd, please find third party sources quickly, at the most within 3 days as the article is on the verge on becoming GA and this is a barrier for that status. Thanks! Secret of success Talk to me 14:12, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Charminar
Hi Omer,
As you can see from my username, I am a Sanam Venkata, a person whose ancestor was listed as either a contractor and/or renovater of the beautiful Charminar. The story about how my great-great-great-grandfather contracted to either build and/or renovate the Charminar has been passed down my family for generations and if you were to ask mostly anybody from my family, they would say the story is true. I would like to therefore discuss with you more personally about the details of my family's history which I find an important part in my family history, but foremostly the Charminar.
Sincerely Thank You. -SanamCharminar — Preceding unsigned comment added by SanamCharminar (talk • contribs) 03:54, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for replying, Omer.
Part of the story is that there is a plaque also upon the Charminar, so I'll see if I can gather more information from my relatives about this.

Sister cities
Hi. I was busy with a few articles in the last few days so sorry for the late reply. About Suwon, see this. Further, let me quote the lines to get the facts right. The link says "Suwon has formed sisterhood ties with 13 cities and friendship ties with 2 cities around the world." The archive link says that it was formed in 2005. That means the sister city relation has been formed in the past but as the present list doesn't show it, it means that it has been delisted. Two more outdated sources I wish to bring to your notice are that of Hyderabad, Sindh (this) and Kazan (the one here). The first link has been published in 2003(!!) and is unacceptable here. About the second one, do you know the date of publication? The link doesn't state it, hence isn't suitable. Secret of success Talk to me 13:08, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
- No replies, what happened? Secret of success Talk to me 11:19, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Secret of success asked me to comment here. Looking at those sources...Suwon appears to not currently be a sister city. The Hyderabad Sindh article merely says some people were interested in the idea--unless there's more current sources, that's not enough to include in the article. The Moscow Times article does not appear reliable to me--it's clearly a piece of tourist promotion, not a reliable newspaper report. However, I would be willing to be overruled by a suitable consensus of other editors. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:33, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Very well, I'll bring more editors here. But as you said, the three don't appear to be sister cities. Secret of success Talk to me 06:33, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- As I don't see any objection from Omer, I removed the three cities. Unless recent sources support the claim, it shouldn't be added. Secret of success Talk to me 07:49, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

I won't be quite active as before from Monday. I would appreciate if you could keep an eye on this article and revert any factual errors. An IP is re-adding Lufthansa's Frankfurt flights to the destinations while this actually ended on 30 October. Another IP has added Dallas and Seattle to Emirates' detinations but these are merely connecting flights at Dubai. If you come across these additions, please revert them an keep an eye on this article. Thanks and cheers — Abhishek Talk 17:43, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Good to see you back
Hi Omer, its good to have you back. The Hyderabad article is being neglected by a lot of users and vandals are rising. Unless we carefully watch it, it will again become what is was six months ago. Regarding GA/FA process, it is not good to directly do so. I suggest that you list it for a peer review and fix up all the faults in the article. After that, we can think of further measures. Cheers X.One SOS 13:55, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
Chatta Bazar Kaman
Hello. While looking for sources on Chatta Bazar I came across this article that mentioned improvements to the Chatta Bazar Kaman. Is this part of the same area as the Chatta Bazar? I wasn't sure, since I have never been to Hydrabad, but if it is, then we could mention the improvements in the article. Thanks. PaintedCarpet (talk) 09:30, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Hyderabad peer review
Hello Omer. At the moment, I have an article waiting for a GA review, another for an FA review and this one with a peer review. I don't think its possible to do all three simultaneously, given the fact that I seriously need a break, so please drop in now and then and participate in the peer review. Its going at a brisk pace. Thanks! X.One SOS 17:02, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
Hyderabad
The Hyderabad article underwent a major change after the peer review. I wish to make some changes to it, thought I'd ask a word to you about it. Coming to the point, the "History" section seems improperly organized with stuff under wrong sections. The "early history" and "early modern history" should be renamed to "Ancient history" and "Medieval history", plus some of the stuff like "it was ruled by many Muslim dynasties until 1948" should be shifted to Medieval history. All of "When Sultan Alauddin Khilji of Delhi took over Warangal.....sultanate of Deccan." these should also be moved to Medieval history, because the Sultanate itself was established in 1206, which is as far as I know, the Medieval period. Do you agree to it? X.One SOS 15:43, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, exact comparison with London would not work as intended, because the European periods are different from Indian periods i.e. The Medieval ages began in Europe during 500s AD, whereas in India it began only after 1000 AD, and similar for the modern period. In Europe, it was said to have begun after the colonisation started, in the 17th century, but in India it came a century later, after the British annexed Bengal and started developing it. I'm not sure if these are verifiable by sources, but this is what I learnt in school. My suggestion is that we stick to Indian articles, and I have cleaned up the "History" and "Geography" sections for now. I'll move on to the others later. Rest assured, even if you are unable to come often, I am watching the article and will be regularly logging in almost everyday. If you have any suggestions, you may post them in my talk and I'll try implementing it. Thanks and wish you a happy new year! X.One SOS 14:57, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- I have renamed the sections in "History". And I thought of expanding the "administration" section after I found this source. It has lot of info about the Police, their establishment, organization and functioning. Check it out. X.One SOS 12:33, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

The article Madina Zayed Mall has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable mall.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Epeefleche (talk) 19:23, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Iqbal
Omer, please don't take this the hard way, but I really don't think that you can make charges about the finer points of English grammar. You don't seem to speak it professionally, and this shows. How can Iqbal be a figure and not a personality? Figure is a much better word, since personality is nuanced a different way. I seriously doubt he was born "Shaik", which is a given title, so why would we say that? Dates do not always need to go at the beginning, and the sentence has very poor structure the way you have framed it. Since when is "besides" an essay-ish word? Not all of you edits are bad, but many of them show you are at a disadvantage in English. Please don't push for your way and nothing else - the article won't benefit from that. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 21:14, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- It is not that i want only it to be personality or figure lets look for more better suitable word, Believe me i want this article to be FA once again. most of its sentences are un-encyclopedia. Your recent editing history at Hyderabad, India shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Please stop adding urdu/telugu language scripts in the article. Consensus was to remove them, irrespective of where they are in the article as it makes no sense to include them in an English language encyclopedia. — Abhishek Talk 07:47, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest
Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.
As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.
If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.
You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

To start with, expand Culture section. See FA Indian cities like Kolkata to get a minimum idea what the culture section should include. I would not have rated the article GA with the present culture section.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:47, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
- Good start for expansion. Film, architecture should be added. Include art galleries, museums (Salar Jung Museum) and public libraries present in the city. Notable musicians, authors, actors etc can be included. There must be a plethora of cultural staffs on Hyderabad.--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:14, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Quite good as a start. Much more content than earlier. Now, add data on poverty, slums in demographics and economy, unorganized sector economy (if data available) in economy section.
- References need consistency (internal consistency within the article). Sentence case should be used in titles of references, irrespective of the case used in actual source.
- After these are taken care of, copy edit of prose and proper image selection should be undertaken. That may wait for now.--Dwaipayan (talk) 00:07, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Concern regarding civic administration of Hyderabad
The geography or civic administration section do not really clarify the different geographic/administrative domains. What is the relation between Hyderabad district, India and Hyderabad city? How is the city defined? Is it the area administered by GHMC? What is the relation between Secunderabad and Hyderabad city? Does GHMC cover Secunderabad as well? If it does, then the statistical data that have been provided in the article inclused Secunderabad as well, right? Does GHMC cover parts of districts other than Hyderabad district? Does Hyderabad City Police cover the whole GHMC area or just a part of it? --Dwaipayan (talk) 23:28, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- Great. These sections are crucial for FAC. I hope you will find out appropriate sources to define those administrative zoning. --Dwaipayan (talk) 00:43, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Administration
Hello. Do you have any idea when most of the government-sites of Hyderabad will become active? For instance, this says that the pages are still under construction. Once these are made available online, I think the section can be expanded quite a lot. Secret of success 07:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
- The 24 legislative assembly seats and 5 Lok Sabha seats are within the greater Hyderabad area (GHMC), right? I have copyedited to reflect so. Please change if my idea is wrong. I have started to read the article slowly, and copyedit if seems necessary. Bye the way, administration reads much better now. Great work!!--Dwaipayan (talk) 01:52, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
More questions and comments
The lead says, "he city is one of the largest metros in India with an area of 650 square kilometres (250 sq mi)having a population of 6,809,970 in the city and 7,749,334 in the metropolitan area...". But the article does not really define "the city" and "metropolitan area" or "urban agglomeration". What is Hyderabad city? Is it the GHMC area? And what is Hyderabad metropolitan area or Hyderabad urban agglomeration?
It seems Hyderabad district, India is a part of GHMC area. Does it have its own district magistrate or collector?
Whenever you are mentioning "the city" or "Hyderabad" in the article, are you meaning the GHMC area, or are you meaning the Hyderabad minus Cyberabad (or something else)? This can be dealt with at the outset, in geography section. If needed, a separate "urban structure" subsection can be built under "geography". This subsection can mention, besides the city, urban agglomeration etc, neighbourhoods. Please see Kolkata for example. However, this subsection is not a must.--Dwaipayan (talk) 02:58, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- Also, the lead of the article is severely inadequate. It won't have have any chance if you put it now in FAC, just on the basis of the lead itself. However, do not worry about the lead now. Let's build the body of the article; lead can be developed later.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:36, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
- And I am refraining from commenting much on the references. Looking at 4 or 5 references was enough. The article stands no chance in terms of manual of style in the references. Of course there are huge issues on MoS in the body of the article. But references section is horrible. Please rad MoS carefully, and also the documentations of various citation templates. Then MASSIVE overhaul of references will be needed.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:41, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Then MASSIVE overhaul of references will be needed.--Dwaipayan (talk) 03:41, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Utility services
While water scarcity is a problem in many Indian cities, so far as I remember, it is particularly pronounced in Hyderabad. You can give some more detail about the water storage and retrieval (from the sagars, right?), and also the scarcity of water especially in rain-deprived years.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:29, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 23
Hi. When you recently edited Hyderabad, India, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Sound pollution, Gujrati and Star TV (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hyderabad improvement
It's great that SoS found out those RS issues. Now, RS-wise, we should be fine (although I have not checked RS-ness of the new ones! You two can do that.)
Do you have any specific sections that you think should undergo copy-edit first (any priority)? Also try to involve other editors (especially experienced ones) for review and copyedit. Do you have any expected timeline (by what time you wish to finish copy-edit? What are your goal for FAC timing? Real life commitments should come first, FACs can wait)--Dwaipayan (talk) 00:51, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
On education section
I see here that Hyderebad has many really important institutes of natinal importance. Some of those (at least those which have no branches other than in Hyderabad) should be mentioned in a sentence like , Institutes of national importance include X, Y, Z etc. I see many cities mentioning this Wigan and Leigh college. How important is that?--Dwaipayan (talk) 01:01, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, healthcare in Hyderabad would be a welcome addition. However, the things that you are mentioning (nice hospitals, medical tourism) constitute hardly ten-twenty percent of things to mention there. I think the overall condition for the large part of population of the city is not much different than healthcare in Kolkata.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:16, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- The RS's are ok now. Let us add all the content necessary and then we can move on to the style issues, (because if we fix some style issues now, later, more may arise, hence all at one stroke). I'll get back to this very soon. Secret of success (talk) 07:04, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Healthcare would be necessary as Hyderabad is indeed known for its high human development index and low poverty. It is pertinent to add it. Secret of success (talk) 14:18, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Hydereabd rail transport questions
Was there any suburban rail network prior to MMTS? Does it still exist? The city does not seem to depend much on local trains, right?--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:47, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Demography
The reference given beneath the population growth table is inadequate. First, it leads to the general census website, not any specific page where Hyderabad population is mentioned. Second, the World Gazetteer website is not linked.
The tremendous increase in population from 2001 to 2011 needs to be explained in demography section by at least one sentence. Why 87% increase?--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:52, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Surgery on Hyderabad, India
Don't get angry at me :) I did some massive surgeries on your baby. Cut out a lot of parts. Moved the cut out parts from "Transport" to Transport in Hyderabad, India. You can create an article Economy of Hyderebad, India, and add whatever you wish there. However, Hyderabad, India needs more sophisticated, pruned, stylized look for FAC. It is a process, won't happen in a few days.
My advice, if you find details/interesting information on any aspect of the city, first add that to the appropriate daughter articles. Then think how, why and where would you add that info in Hyderabad, if at all. And, for important sections like Economy (indeed for the whole article if possible), rather than scourging information bits from scattered newspaper reports, try to find out published reports from the government, or scholarly articles. --Dwaipayan (talk) 19:52, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Different chapters of this publication may be useful. For example, this one. --Dwaipayan (talk) 21:47, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure if this could be of use, as it pertains to Hyderabad district, and not the city.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:55, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, there is lot of information in this publication, as you suggested currently, I will be working for traffic congestion, then we shall move to economy and education. :) Regards.--Omer123hussain (talk) 22:47, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure if this could be of use, as it pertains to Hyderabad district, and not the city.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:55, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
That cable tv site seems to be a forum. It is unlikely to be considered as a reliable source. Regarding transport, let's keep the subsections now. This is not a major issue, and whether you have or do not have the subsections won't matter much in FAC probably. Yes, improve other sections. I feel geography section is also inadequate. Describing how the city is spread, the neighborhoods, any other geographic feature or peculiarity (if any) would be great.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:27, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Healthcare in Hyderabad
Wow! That is a really well developed and pretty comprehensive section in the Hyderabad article. That reads really encyclopedic (thanks for not overflowing with description of sleek modern hospitals which are important but less significant in the overall healthcare status of any Indian geographical entity articles). Congrats! (and that National Family Health Survey really helped, didn't it?)--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:48, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
- The section reads As of 2011, the city houses 50 government hospitals, 165 corporate and charity hospitals, and about 4000 Nursing homes, all together these facilities provide the city with 12,000 hospital beds. This really does not make sense. There are 4,000 nursing homes (and more hospitals), and only 12,000 beds? that means 3 beds per nursing home? That does not make sense. I think this 12,000 bed number pertains to hospitals only (government and private combined) -- which is a more likely number. Read between the lines in your source.
- And bye the way, the The Hindu source you have used for some of these statistical information is not a very good one (in that newspaper article someone casually mentions the approximate numbers). Try to find out some more reliable source, some state or national government publication, if possible. Such publication may not be available the city (they should be available in the district level though), please try to search hard.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:49, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, now it makes sense. 4,000 is the number of out patient clinics.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:54, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your correction (eagle sight) :) regards--Omer123hussain (talk) 02:05, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Hello
Hey Omer, glad to see that you have been expanding Hyderabad, India for the past few weeks. I'm afraid that my participation in the article will be limited or even negligible, as I have a big year in school to look forward to, and I won't get much time to edit here. With Dwai to help you, you need not worry at all :-) you can re-model the article to a very deserving shape and get things done. It was nice working with you both, and I hope I do whatever I can soon. Thanks! Secret of success (talk) 14:42, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Hello!
Hi! How is Hyderabad moving? Do you have any timeline planned for presenting it to FAC? Prior to that it would need a peer review (and ideally the article should be there for 3-4 weeks). Prior to that, if you prefer, I would like to have a look at the article. Please ping me when you feel you are satisfied. (I would have some available time to do this in the next several months, so asking this). Just one random comment. I visited the article today, and did not read it; I just very quickly scrolled down. I had a feeling the article has a few short paragraphs consisting of 3-4 lines. You can try to coalesce a few paragraphs to larger-looking paragraphs! Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 01:41, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, will have a look when I get some time. One thing that I always notice in this article (and rarely in any other article) is grouping of two or more citations under the same citation number. For example, as of this version, footnote number 10 has three separate sources grouped together. While this may not be wrong practice, it is unusual. I am not sure whether this would be questioned in the planned FAC.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:14, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- One thing is missing in the history. How the state became a Princely state under British Raj form being a sovereign state under Asaf Jah. What was there? Any war? Or just the Nizams benignly accepted British rule? --Dwaipayan (talk) 15:58, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- yes that addition of statistics in transport is very befitting. Will resume reading and copyediting later as I am traveling now.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:54, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

What do you mean by source coding? Do you mean the use of different citation templates?--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:22, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- Let's remove the url for books. ISBN (or other such numbering system) is a must though.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:54, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- I see that most of the book references do not have publisher information. Usually the name of the publisher is given in case of book sources. Have a look at this. City of publication is optional, and does not need to be given. These are all just guidelines, and everything may not need to be followed. However, publisher name for books is usually expected. Also, use |publisher parameter for book publisher, in the "cite book" template.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:05, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

I noticed our desire to revert everything to what you feel is correct has in the past resulted in much criticism of you by others to the point that I read one say it has begun a 'how many per hour' scenario! If you do not like my alterations let me know the reason why, rather than reverting. I have tried to be reasonable in any editing I have done on this or other articles - the goal being to establish a comprehensive erudite encyclopaedic text - and some times for example I think you forget that it is intended for the ignorant as well as the learned, so it is essential that in the lead section the important salient points are expressed even if later repeated in another sections as the lead is a quick summary of the whole for he who has little time or interest to read all the sections or sub-sections.Mhakcm (talk) 09:55, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the article Hyderabad, India has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. Please use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did, and feel free to use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do. Thank you. Your recent editing history at Hyderabad, India shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period.
See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. NeilN talk to me 20:40, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Hyderabad peer review
Thank you for directing me there. I was not aware of the comments. Will have a look at those. Seems the editor has done a great peer review.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:19, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, after a long time we got one but a comprehencive reviewer. :) --Omer123hussain (talk) 13:34, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- One issue that the reviewer raised is regarding lack of use of books as source. I have not gone through the long list of references lately. It would be great if you can try to some google book searches, and add some book references in sections such as Culture. I think History section already has some significant book references.
- Moreover, of all those book sthat have been used in the references, list some of the comprehensive ones under the section "Further Readings". You can add any book you want under Further Reading. Later, I can have a look at that to see if the additions are really comprehensive ones. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:37, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- I agree, the reason is; Since couple of years, the city is rapidly growing and changing in terms of Area, which directly changes is economy, population, pollution and administrative divisions, etc etc, thus in this regards, regular magazines and reliable news papers covers more frequently than books. The another reason is; mostly one book is sourced to claim certain phrase, thou it could be utilized in other places but we (dont know why) did not utilized it. Any way as you suggest, I will apply book sources where ever applicable, as of now the article contain 40 sources from books. :) Regards. --Omer123hussain (talk) 11:52, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I also think there are quite a number of books utilized in the article for referencing. And topics such as demographics, economy, geographic expansion, traffic, pollution etc newspaper articles would be more updated that books.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:54, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

- Email him. He may not be that frequent in WP. Also, if possible, try to locate a source map, and direct him to there. The source map you can get from government websites/municipality websites/somewhere else.
- If possible, in the mean time, try to write a small paragraph on the neighbourhoods of Hyderabad. See the second and third paragraph of "Urban structure" subsection in "Geography" section of Kolkata for some guidance.
- Bye the way, you are doing great edits to the article. It is genuinely moving towards FAC. Hope it should get ready within a month or so. Of course more issues will arise during FAC :) Cheers!--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:50, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

- Hi Omer, I have a whole bunch of pending map tasks that I would like to get on but dont seem to have the time off late. In the meantime you should check the hyderabad map on openstreetmap to see if the data is good for use. You can export the map directly from there because it is cc-by-sa and you can even make corrections there. This is also the source I will be using to make maps in future, so you would need to get the osm map in shape first. When you feel the osm data is good enough, I can do a custom styling of that data so that it can be used as a locator map -- PlaneMad|YakYak 11:50, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Next step for Hyderabad
Ok, next step. Listen very carefully!
See this section from manual of style. Any given article should be internally consistent (that is, use one style consistently throughout).
As an example, one article may use Sentence case throughout its references (the example is third from below on that table)—Capitalization of only the first word, proper nouns and as dictated by other specific English rules. Another article may follow what many call "title case"—Capitalization of the first word, and all other words, except for closed-class words. (sixth example from below in that table).
As of now, Hyderabad has a mixture of styles in the whole reference section. For example, Sudhir Kakar (1996). The colors of violence: cultural identities, religion, and conflict. University of Chicago Press. p. 23. ISBN 0-226-42284-4. This is "sentence case". On the other hand, "Ease of Doing Business in Hyderabad – India (2009)". World Bank Group. Retrieved 8 February 2011. This is "title case".
Whatever style may have been followed in the source material, we can convert them to the style we are following consistently in an article. Another example of title case—Roy and Ong (2011). Worlding Cities: Asian Experiments and the Art of Being Global. John Wiley & Sons. p. 253. ISBN 978-1-4051-9277-4. In sentence case, it will be—Roy and Ong (2011). Worlding cities: Asian experiments and the art of being global. John Wiley & Sons. p. 253. ISBN 978-1-4051-9277-4.
Of note, the capitalization of the name of the publisher did not change. The publishers are companies, and so there capitalization pattern is not changed, and copied as is from source. Now decide for Hyderabad what style to be used consistently. My personal vote is for "sentence case". The same style has to be followed in "further reading" section as well. So, if you chose sentence case, instead of " Pernau, Margrit (2000). The Passing of Patrimonialism: Politics and Political Culture in Hyderabad,(1911–1948). Delhi, India: Manohar Publication. ISBN 81-7304-362-0." it would be "Pernau, Margrit (2000). The passing of patrimonialism: politics and political culture in Hyderabad,(1911–1948). Delhi, India: Manohar Publication. ISBN 81-7304-362-0."
After deciding the style, you have to go through EACH reference once again, to ensure adherence to that style. In case of any question, dilemma ask me. If I am not able to answer, we can ask in WT:MoS. You can have a quick glance on the article first to decide what style has been followed mostly so far, and decide to stick to that. Internal consistency is the keyword here.
So, this summarizes the next step. I think, after this the article would be technically ready for FAC. One thing that I am wondering is whether the article has too many wikilinks! If possible, can we remove further names of places/things etc.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:15, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- About wikilinking, even I realized that, lets finishe wikilinking issue and then we shall start with source style, Okay lets move with "Sentence case", it looks simple, light and would make our work fast.--Omer123hussain (talk) 22:08, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know how good is that map! It looks pretty basic. Will have alook at the article. Meanwhile you can try to add alternative texts for images.--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:04, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- The books in Further reading section should also be in sentence case.--Dwaipayan (talk) 23:25, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Reference formatting
Despite your monumental efforts, great amount of reference formatting remains to be done. I'd first suggest you to read the following pages—Template:Cite web, Template:Cite news, Template:Cite journal. See the description of the parameters in each of them. Then you will understand who to mention under which parameter.
there may still be several questions and ambiguities. For example, TV channels are considered as "publishers", and not "work". This you may not know unless told. I found in many cases, you have mentioned the publisher of the source under "work"; this needs to be corrected. For this source, (used in mentioning the number of deaths from particulate material), you need to use Template:Cite journal, and provide as much details about the publication as possible. Let me know if you face any difficulties. Please see refernec number 194 in Kolkata (after the sentence "Tollywood" for Tollygunj, where most of the state's film studios are located). for guidance.
Also, while improving the NFHS source, I used last1, first1 parameters for author name. However, you have used |author parameters in the article. So please change my parameters to the |author style, the consistently used style in the article.
Also, too much overlinking exists in the article.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:28, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- I see inconsistency in author name style. Some times you have used |author, sometimes |first, |last. In some other instances (such as Leonard, K. (2011). "Hindu temples in Hyderabad: State patronage and politics in South Asia". South Asian History and Culture 2 (3): 352–373.), the author name was automatically formatted due to the use of Template:Cite doi.
- One specific style needs to be used in the article consistently. I personally prefer |last1, |first1 style. That looks more professional (journal articles publish author names in last name, first name format). I think once again (and may be more times) you will have to go through every reference. I am sorry I should have told this before. but I could not have a look at the article before, and so was late to detect this error. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:02, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I shall first complete sourcing part, they are hidden part but very important.
- 1) I will organize all News sources.
- Well, I shall first complete sourcing part, they are hidden part but very important.
- 2) Book sources, for authors name some time I am confused like some authors have 3-4 names like Shah Masood Alam, in this cases which is first and whic is last, and what about middle names, that's why I used simple author=shah masood alam.
- 3) Lastly we shall go thru the journals, but in journals they dont mention that they are journals, so how to identify that it is a journal or thesis or study, research. Any way first I shall complete news sources, as they are in plenty. :)) Regards. --Omer123hussain (talk) 20:57, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- 2) Book sources, for authors name some time I am confused like some authors have 3-4 names like Shah Masood Alam, in this cases which is first and whic is last, and what about middle names, that's why I used simple author=shah masood alam.
- If you choose to use last, first format, for author name with multiple parts, the very last mentioned name will be the |last. The rest of th name, including the middle parts, will be under |first. Taking your example, the author name will be |first=Alam |last=Shah Masood.
- Some sources are clearly in journals. For example, the source I gave above (this one) has a line above the heading saying "Int J Environ Res Public Health. 2005 Aug;2(2):343-54". That means it came out in International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health", in August 2005, in Volume 2, Issue (or number) 2, page being 343-54.
- Journal articles are usually more organized, and more sourced, and reliable. If you have any doubt, you can ask me. The template cite journal may be used to format magazine articles as well sometimes, but not needed officially. Cite web is adequate for most magazine article.
- Research and study results usually are published in journals. Research or studies may be presented in a seminar or conference as well, rather than being published in a journal (this is relatively less in number). In such cases, Template:Cite conference may be used. Thesis papers (required for completing PhD, MSc or other degrees) may or may not be published in a journal. Thesis that have not been published in a journal can be formatted using Template:Cite thesis.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:32, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
