editI left some feedback on the Requests for Feedback page, and did some minor edits to your draft (described in my comments). Be aware that a couple of your sources will not be considered "Reliable Sources". For example, on the page WP:RS in a discussion of "self-published sources", it says, "blogs ... are largely not acceptable". The so-called blog of Glaudi's fellow sportscaster may in reality be an article, and calling it a "blog" just the publisher's way of sounding current. But it is possible you will receive negative comments about this, so be prepared. If you can locate additional verification of any of the facts recited in your article from an additional mainstream news source (obituary perhaps), you should include it in your article to stave off problems. Nicely done article in my opinion. Tkotc (talk) 05:55, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Dates?
editI was looking at the article on Adrien De Pauger -- good work, by the way -- and I compared it with fr.wiki's article on him, and they've got different dates for his death. You said June 9th, fr.wiki says June 21st. What's your source? DS (talk) 14:58, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. The source of de Pauger's date of death is the September 26, 1954 article about de Pauger in the New Orleans Times Picayune newspaper, written by New Orleans historian Pie Dufour. Nolabob (talk) 00:24, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, a reference! I don't suppose it has a title? DS (talk) 03:00, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- The article is called "Designer of New Orleans", in Pie Dufour's "A La Mode" column. Nolabob (talk) 23:50, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

History of football in the south
editThank you for your recent edits on Harry P. Gamble. As a graduate of Jesuit, you might find interest in Johnny Menville. If you are really interested on the broader subject of southern football during that time, William Lofland Dudley could use someone with a chemist's expertise, for my lack of sufficient chemistry studies makes an exhaustive account of his scientific contributions difficult. Cake (talk) 15:52, 3 October 2015 (UTC) Thank you for your note. I'll keep the suggestion about Dudley in mind. Much as I like Tulane and Jesuit, does Menville really meet Wikipedia's notability criteria? Nolabob (talk) 13:28, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- A fair question, but I would say so. The strongest and first point is laid out in brief on the All-Southern article; i. e. before the SEC in 1933, and certainly before the death of Camp, they were equivalent to All-American designation, as such was impossible for southern players (cf. John Tigert's or Hunter Carpenter's various HOF profiles). Second, even if we take it as just like an All-SEC selection today, that is usually sufficient for an article. Menville was also a very versatile athlete, the best at his school (won the Porter Cup). He punted and also played defensive end (Jess Neely was another fellow I know more about who must've been regularly crushed when switched to DE). Cake (talk) 18:06, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- I just made the article for William T. Daly who might interest you as an academic and athlete who gave his life to Louisiana. Cake (talk) 16:46, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

edit When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Mr. Bingle, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:
- If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
- If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
- If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;
If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:13, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
- The warning template I used is unnecessarily harsh, but Wikipedia does take this matter quite seriously. editAlways interested to learn more about NOLA, so thanks for sharing info about Curtis & Davis today. There was another drawings collection from Curtis at SEAA, but the link I added seemed most relevant to your article as it was a collection of drawings of buildings. - @Nolabob:. Yes, parents married in 52 and moved there when mother obtained MSW from Tulane, father was civilian engineer for the Navy. Never lived there myself, but visited college friend several times in the 70s and many times more for conferences in later years. Mother's shrimp creole is a family favorite and Confederacy of Dunces is one of my all-time favorite books. Much to admire about the rich, colorful history and culture of the Crescent City. DYK for Christian Street Historic District
editOn 1 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Christian Street Historic District, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the proposed Christian Street Historic District (building pictured), originally settled by Irish immigrants, is also known as "Black Doctors' Row"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Christian Street Historic District. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Christian Street Historic District), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Saint. Stephen Church, New Orleans

- Thank you for the suggestion. I'll definitely look into this. However, I'm distracted with some family matters at the moment, so it might be toward the end of the summer before there's significant progress. Nolabob (talk) 10:38, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

Sesame allergy GA review
editThank you for beginning the GA review of this article. David notMD (talk) 12:51, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- Copyediting - I am, perhaps, too close to the article to do a decent copyediting pass-through. I would appreciate it if you would take on this task, either now or when all of the other to-do items have been addressed. David notMD (talk) 15:24, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- I understand completely. I will take on the copyediting task per your request in a day or two as the review progresses. At this time, I'm working on the spot check of the citations. Nolabob (talk) 16:10, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- I am addressing the last of the queries today. I will add a note here when done. If, on a final read-through, more questions arise, please leave a note on my Talk page so I can revisit. I appreciate your attention to detail and patience. On the former, looks like I should revisit the food allergy articles previously raised to GA, to improve those. LaPlace Louisiana
editI'm planning a visit to LaPlace Louisiana next week, mostly to see the Woodland Plantation's reincarnation as the 1811/Kid Ory Museum. Letting you know in case you have any requests for me to photograph in that area. (I'm not expecting to go much further upriver nor to the West Bank.) Leave a message on my Commons talk page if so. - Thank you for thinking of me and for your positive feedback. I don't have any specific projects in mind related to LaPlace. One thing that comes to mind has to do with nearby Norco, Louisiana. Its Wikipedia page has little in the way of photographs. Maybe a few photos related to Norco, if that's not inconvenient? Thanks! Nolabob (talk) 10:43, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
editHi Nolabob. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 04:22, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Pay Toilets
editPay Toilets is an off-shoot of Draft:Great Toilet Battle which in turn is derived from Youtube Great Toilet Battle Great Toilet Battle (Deutsche Welle uploaded to YT) (2022-10-08)
This 42minute long YT film features some of the following actors, people and things and is deadly serious about lifting hundreds of millions out of third world unsewered filth, a worthy cause if ever there was one:
- Jack Sim founder of World Toilet Organization (WTO)
- Bill Gates and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
- Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi
- Logo of Pay Toilets consists of Mahatma Gandhi's distinctive round glasses.
- Modi announced his clean toilet project on Mahatma Gandhi's birthday of 2 October
- A leading Indian Bollywood actor who stars in the movie "Toilets" and becomes the Face of Toilets.
-
Youtube Great Toilet Battle - World Toilet Organization - Mahatma Gandhi's glasses - Logo
-
Deutsche Welle logo - "D" and "W" inside overlapping circles - Motto = Made for minds.
-
no mention as yet of program "Great Toilet Battle"
- I do not mind you moving Pay Toilets to Draft space..
Do I need to cite more? ----MountVic127 (talk) 17:38, 2 November 2022 (UTC) MountVic127 (talk) 17:38, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
- Here's a statement of the Wikipedia policy on citing Youtube. Considering what you said about this project, I suggest looking for other reliable sources beyond Youtube. A brief Google search indicates that there are New York Times and Wall Street Journal articles about Gates's effort to improving sanitation in the Third World. Nolabob (talk) 19:16, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
Deutsche Welle (DW) is a reputable broadcaster like the BBC and Australia's ABC and SBS; the Great Toilet Battle happens to be an upload to youtube of this article. In hindsight I could have named the relevant files "DW GTB" rather than "YT GTB" but this is too late to change.
I searched DW and found an index of programs that have made and the nearest to GTB is "Great Barrier Reef"; clearly they have yet to update this index.
While much of youtube maybe trivial, rubbish, labourious, spam or worse, the "Great Toilet Battle" from DW is genuine and worthy of citation.

Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js
to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js
Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000 (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.
Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

External academic review and publication of Wikipedia pages
editHi Nolabob. In case you'd not come across it before, I thought I'd message to ask whether there are any wikipedia articles that you'd be interested in creating/updating/overhauling and submitting for external, academic peer review.
The WikiJournal of Science (www.wikijsci.org) couples the rigour of academic peer review with the extreme reach of the encyclopedia. For existing Wikipedia articles, it's a great way to get additional feedback from external experts. Peer-reviewed articles are dual-published both as standard academic PDFs, as well as having changes integrated back into Wikipedia. This improves the scientific accuracy of the encyclopedia, and rewards authors with citable, indexed publications. It also provides much greater reach than is normally achieved through traditional scholarly publishing.
Note that we do have to publish under real names, so if you don't want your real name associated to your username, you may have to choose atopic that your username has not previously edited.
Anyway, let me know whether you'd be interested in putting an article through academic peer review (either solo, or with a team of coauthors).

Langenstein's
editGood day. I notice that the Langenstein's article is up for deletion. I'm not sure if it's notable outside of Greater New Orleans, but I'm sure more could be added to the article if you think it a worthy subject to save. I do know that there are pix of each of the locations on Commons. Red beans & ricely, -- Infrogmation (talk) 22:45, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- OK, I'll have a look at it tomorrow. I'll determine if I can address the notability concern and also the ad-like tone of the article. On a personal note, my parents were acquaintances with the owners of Langenstein's, although ironically my parents did not shop there. My parents and their Langenstein acquaintances are long since past, so there is no COI. Thanks for calling this to my attention. Nolabob (talk) 23:26, 27 March 2023 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023
editHello Nolabob,
Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

New pages patrol newsletter
editHello Nolabob,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

November Articles for creation backlog drive
editHello Nolabob:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4 months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024
editHello Nolabob,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000 reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000 reviews), 6 Silver (2000 ), 8 Bronze (1000 ), 30 Iron (360 ) and 70 more for the 100 barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Pages Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

editThanks for your work on Solari's! Great job! Meanwhile, the Arnaud's article was proposed for deletion as out of scope and looking like advertising. I made some edits to improve it and removed the PROD notice, but it certainly could use further improvement. Should you have time and inclination, your skills with New Orleans culture & history articles would be welcome. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 18:50, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. And thanks for the heads-up about the Arnaud's article. It certainly needs further work. Is there any urgency on this? I could work on it slowly among other commitments but it might take me until the end of the summer to finish the improvements. Thanks again. Nolabob (talk) 19:11, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- I *think* it isn't urgent at this time. I think I've gotten it up to mediocrity adequate for the short term. Red beans & ricely, -- Infrogmation (talk) 22:58, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- Per your suggestion, I have conducted extensive revisions to the article about Arnaud's. I believe the tone is much more "encyclopedic" and largely without promotional tone. There are still one or two primary sources in the article, but this may be unavoidable. Please have a critical look and let me know if there is anything else I should do on this article. Thanks again for the suggested topic. Nolabob (talk) 12:11, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
