Adoption
editHi there, I saw that you're up for adoption. Want me to adopt you? The Arbiter★★★ 23:26, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, thank's for your offer. Let's see if it is sufficient to continue by replying on my talk page to you.--Nicolasnicolas (talk) 09:42, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely. :) I've watchlisted all my adoptees' pages, so I can keep an eye on them. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have! Cheers, The Arbiter★★★ 16:59, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Great! So let's start in the next section.--Nicolasnicolas (talk) 08:50, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Revising the list of acupuncture points
editThe reason I asked for adoption is me planning to revise the article containing a list of names and characters for acupuncture points. This is list can be found here List of acupuncture points. I started with collecting ideas and posting some of them on the discussion page, but no one seems to keep an eye on that article, so I'm a bit on my own.
What concerns me is the way I should lay out the point tables. Since I am busy with collecting and reviewing the point names, my list is not complete at the moment, nor is each name and character verified. However I can give the sources for almost each name and character. Now I would like to enhance and revise the article by the data I already collected. This would involve:
- showing that the page is work in progress; this should be a box at the top of the page
- There are multiple templates for this...what d oyou want to say? For example, that you need sources, may be biased, etc?
- marking somehow which data is verified by checking against different sources as 'reliable' and others as 'needs to be verified'; maybe coded via background colours of the table cells, but in that case the exact source of each data would be lost
- I'm assuming that you know how to do references, so... if you want to show that something needs a citation, add a {{CN}} after the text. That will create this.[citation needed]
- I would like to be able to check changes other users make or at least be able to review them; this could work via the watchlist I think
- Yes, watchlisting is what I would do.
Then there is some stuff directly concerning the data. How can I discuss this stuff - there are at least the Wikiprojects Japan and China; maybe I should contact them.
- Yes, I think the people at the wikiprojects would be willing to help.
Furthermore there's some technical stuff.
- will the wikipedia search engine produce a hit to the page if one types in 'zusanli' but the page contains 'zúsānlǐ'? is there a way to have 'zú sān lǐ' printed but produce search hits also by 'zusanli', 'zu san li' and 'zúsānlǐ' resp.?
- I think it will produce hits regardless of the tone marks.
- Do I have to use some language markings? There will be chinese long characters, chinese pinyin and japanese.
- Probably would be best to show what language each is in.
Do you have any suggestions on these topics?
- Not really…sorry, but I don’t know much about acupuncture. Ask me if you need any help though! Cheers, The Arbiter★★★ 22:38, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your help!--Nicolasnicolas (talk) 09:21, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

- Please take your time, this does not call for rapid actions.--Nicolasnicolas (talk) 09:22, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll begin to answer the points now. I'll just answer in your text, but my answers are in bold. The Arbiter★★★ 22:38, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your help and suggestions. I'll come back to you as new issues come up.--Nicolasnicolas (talk) 10:21, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi there! I submitted my work on the List of acupuncture points and would be glad if you take a glance at it and hint me to whatever should be improved to get a good state of the article. Thanks in advance! --Nicolasnicolas (talk) 16:35, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Merry Christmas!
edit(I'll get to your concerns right after...THIS!!!)
- Cool idea - thank you! Enjoy a wonderful christmas time!--Nicolasnicolas (talk) 09:20, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Hello again!
editSo, how is everything going? Need any help? The Arbiter★★★ 02:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for asking! Meanwhile I found a bit of help but mainly I am on my own revising the article. Since there's quiet a lot of data involved it took a while and will still take some time. Up to now I did not come up with a satisfying solution for the problem of possible typographic errors in the data sets and how to mark in a convenient way which data is "reliable". "Reliable" in that it has been checked against two different sources and which sources. However I'm working on it :-) If you now where I might find help (e.g. other users/groups that must have faced similar problems), any hint is highly welcome.
- Oh, and one more - since you are the master of shiny boxes: I would like to add a box to the top of the article explaining its state, describing which data is less reliable and why and how users could help. But by my quick glances at the available templates I did not find something suitable. Any idea?--Nicolasnicolas (talk) 09:14, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
