2022 All Japan Artistic Gymnastics Championships moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, 2022 All Japan Artistic Gymnastics Championships, is not suitable as written to remain published and has been moved to draftspace for the reason "no sources, and no reliable sources turn up when you do a google search, but since there are articles for previous years i suspect some info not avaliable to me will demonstrate notability". It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. interstatefive (talk) - just another roadgeek 23:29, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Ways to improve Keitaro Okubo
editHello, NguyenDuyAnh1995,
Thank you for creating Keitaro Okubo.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
Youtube video using this gymnast's name is not significant coverage. Youtube is regarded as an unreliable source.
This article needs more references in order to provide significant coverage for this article. See WP:SIGCOV
References that have scores, lists, order of merit and video do not pass as reliable sources for WP:NSPORT. (There have been changes to the notability guide for sports - you may wish to read WP:NSPORT )
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}

Whiteguru (talk) 06:38, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Whiteguru: None of the sources are Youtube video.
- None of them are list, score results, order of merit or video.
- What are you referring to?
- NguyenDuyAnh1995 (talk) 18:36, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- The first reference is a Youtube video called the OKUBO - performed by OKUBO. Youtube video are not reliable sources. This reference is simply a mention, and not significant coverage of OKUBO. The second reference has a photo and a mention of OKUBO. This is not a significant coverage. WP:SIRS gives a criteria of significant, independent, reliable and secondary sources. That he has won a medal does not automatically grant notability for sports. Each of the categories mentioned in NGYMNAST begin with significant coverage is likely to exist .
- Likely to exist does not confer immediate notability. There is a clear requirement to have reliable sources, medal won or not. Whiteguru (talk) 22:07, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Whiteguru: How come the 1st reference is a Youtube video when it's actually a written article and the address is not Youtube? Secondly, if you want significant coverage, look at the External Link. FIG, the International Gymnastics Federation, is for sure a reliable source; and the link was written in details and directly to a gymnast named Keitaro Okubo. editHello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Yuta Watanabe (badminton), did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page.
Hi NguyenDuyAnh1995, if you did not agree with my edits please comment through "edit summary" or leave a message on my talk page or mention me in this section. I made major changes on Yuta Watanabe performance timeline section because your contribution did not followed the uniformity of badminton related articles.
- Badminton related articles did not input BWF junior circuit to performance timeline section. We input junior circuit tournament results in career or achievement section. If you want to propose something new in badminton related articles, you can comment in WikiProject Badminton
- Please use performance key correctly (1R not R32, 2R not R16) and if the players won medal please use G, S, or B with their color code (You only put F in Watanabe mixed doubles results of 2021 BWF World Championships and SF in 2022 Badminton Asia Championships.
- 2022 Asian Games. Not yet been held but you already put code and color in the box.
- For more example, you can follow badminton articles that already passed Wikipedia:Good article criteria: Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Carolina Marín.
I hope my suggestions are useful for your next contribution. Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 04:05, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Hello, your decision to revert my edit isn’t based on any rule or criteria. If it is, please link the “WP:” instead of merely saying that it’s “unnecessary”. Competitions like ATP Finals, WTA Finals as well as BWF World Tour Finals all have “points breakdown” categories like what I created for the Olympics. Re: Gao Ling's performance timeline
editEvery article in Wikipedia should follow the Wikipedia rules, don't make your own rules. If you didn't agree with the rules, you can open the discussion in the Wikiproject.
1. There are a template for performance key. So, don't make your own. See here: Template:Performance key (badminton)
2. Yes, it's not always R32=1R or R16=2R. 1R can also we use for R64. It depends on the tournament draw. So, keep the uniformity of badminton articles with using 1R, 2R or 3R.. Again, if you don't agree start a discussion in Wikiproject:Badmiton WP:BADM.
3. Who said using flag icons next to the tournament title is not forbidden? Read here: *MOS:DECOR and MOS:FLAG Icons should serve an encyclopedic purpose and not merely be decorative. If the use of flags in a list, table or infobox makes it unclear, ambiguous or controversial, it is better to remove the flags even if that makes the list, table or infobox inconsistent with others of the same type where no problems have arisen. Adding a flag icon next to the tournament title doesn't have any meaning. The name of the tournament clearly describes where the tournament is being held, there is no need to decorate it with a flag icon.
4. Don't take examples of things that don't follow Wikipedia's rules as you said you follow that from Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan articles. Here are the good examples for badminton related articles: Carolina Marin, Greysia Polii, and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo. Those article already received the Wikipedia:Good articles badge.
I do also appreciate your recent edits on Gao Ling's performance timeline, but sorry,, i should revert your edits. Thanks Stvbastian (talk) 03:19, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Here’s my opinion:
- 1/ What is the purpose of the template? Is it created to make it more convenient for editors and viewers to describe the symbols or is it compulsory to use them? If it’s compulsory, which rule states that?
- 2/ Why do editors have to follow the “uniformity rule” Of using 1R, 2R when it’s R32, R16 on data the official BWF websites? Not to mention that it’s more time-consuming to figure out which rounds do athlete last competed. For example, when I search for info on bwfbadminton.com there’s only R32, R16 and if I want to find out whether it’s 1R or 2R I will have to click for more details, and on the tournamentsoftware.com many tournaments are missing, especially the team events. So you see, using #R for “uniformity” make it less convenient and more time-consuming to collect information. And honestly, is it necessary for “uniformity”? Readers can understand what R16, R32 mean as much as 1R, 2R.
- 3/ Using flag icons on next to competition names is not merely decorative but also informative. Yes most tournaments have in their names where they are held at, but not every. “Artic Open”, “Syed Modi International”, “Orleans Masters”...are some examples.
- 4/ Again what rule? You keep saying “not following rule” stuff but I still haven’t seen any line saying that editors have to do this or that.
- NguyenDuyAnh1995 (talk) 03:55, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- Please follow the Wikiproject guidelines and Wikipedia rules.
- 1. For the third time i said, if you want to change the code of the performance timeline, ask the member of the Wikiproject badminton first, don't make you own. Start the discusion in Wikiproject Badminton here: WP:BADM talk page. All rules are not set unilaterally, but are discussed together in Wikiproject badminton WP:BADM.
- 2. Open this tournament software link 2009 China Masters. In that link they used 1 round and 2 round. Nothing wrong with using 1R for 1 round and 2R for second round.
- 3. About the flagicon next to tournament name, read the rules here: MOS:DECOR and MOS:FLAG. Maybe Timothytyy and Zoglophie can explain more about this.
- 4. It's clear above that you didn't follow the WP:BADM, MOS:DECOR and MOS:FLAG rules, especially for WP:BLP that said "Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion."
- Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 04:40, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- 1/ Again which rule make it compulsory to use exactly like what you said?
- 2/ When you collect data about a player’s performance in each tournament, where do you search for information? Do you search on every tournament and event to see if the player participated? Or do you open the player’s profile on those websites? On BWF profiles of players they use R32, R16.
- 3/ I already read those pages and still haven’t found anything inappropriate. And in previous message you only said it was “merely decorative” but I disagreed and said that they are also “informative”. If there’s a rule or violation of my using them, quote it to me.
- 4/ I will source it once I got access to my laptop. But if you think it “must be removed immediately”, then don’t edit the information in it.
- Thank you,
- NguyenDuyAnh1995 (talk) 05:02, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
- The discussion had been closed in the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Badminton##R or R# on Performance timeline? with results no one support the proposal for using R32, R16, etc. And in the Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style#Flagicon next to the tournament title with results added the flagicon next to tournament title violates the MOS:FLAGS, MOS:DECOR, and MOS:IMAGERELEVANCE. And please stop playing WP:IDONTGETIT, it is important for every Wikipedia editor to read and understand the Wikipedia's rules. Thank you.. Stvbastian (talk) 07:28, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

editWelcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Gao Ling, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 04:49, 15 December 2023 (UTC)
