Thank you for an interesting bio! Sad that it didn't stay long. Same for the lead pic in the news ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:32, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Gerda Arendt, happy to know you liked this, too. Next, there will be a DYK on Marie Marcks. ;) Munfarid1 (talk) 05:32, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good to know, let me know when you nominate, I like to review women's bios! - Do you really need two archive boxes on this page? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:59, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Gerda Arendt, it's already been nominated and should be somewhere in the prep area. - But next time, when I nominate a DYK of a women's bio, I will let you know. - Also thanks for the unnecessary double archive boxes. (It was my first try to use this, and I have just corrected this.) Munfarid1 (talk) 06:11, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, - if "she" still needs a review when I'll need a qpq I'll do it. I found DYK too time-consuming, and turned more towards the RD section of In the news, nominations at WP:ITNN. Reviewing is much easier there: Is the article substantial enough, and is it fully referenced? That's all. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:39, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Regarding East Germany: I accept it for sports people and politicians, but for others, the pipe or simply "Germany" seems better. It's a sloppy term, to be avoided if possible. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:34, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, I thought we have to name the state where someone was born. And according to one of her interviews, this influenced her childhood and artistic development. Munfarid1 (talk) 19:22, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
But East Germany is no state, German Democratic Republic was the state. Also: we don't have to name the state. Look at Mozart, and the many times it has been reverted. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:19, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Happy whatever you celebrate today, - more who died, more to come, and they made the world richer. Greetings from Madrid where I took the pic of assorted Cucurbita in 2016. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:18, 31 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Gerda Arendt Thank you for this pleasant surprise! If you don't know the chappel where Goya is buried, I suggest a visit to San Antonio de la Florida. And also the Colecciones Reales near the Royal Palace. Have a great day Munfarid1 (talk) 08:20, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Marie Marcks

The fact was ... that Marie Marcks sarcastically caricatured gender roles like no one before, according to Jutta Limbach? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Marie Marcks. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Marie Marcks), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Thank you for an interesting bio, also featured - pictured - on Portal:Germany! Thank you for the recommendations above, I saw the galleries now, and the chapel on a previous visit, - both exactly the things I like to see. Teresina next, and I know nothing (but that a friend lives there). --

Glad you liked the collections, and thanks for putting this DYK on the portal. - I wasn't aware of this up to now!
Enjoy your trip and new discoveries.
I will, but this trip was over yesterday. Pics to come, some are already where the music plays, the one of the concert hall not by me, - I sat left above the choir, was afraid I wouldn't hear them but was wrong ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:43, 3 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
first Madrid pics -- (forgot to sign)
more Madrid pics, including the galleries! - For a surprise, a Bach cantata is on the Main page today, where it was last year for the 300th anniversary, and they were too lazy to find something new ;) - Look at my story, and listen to the 3 whole-tone steps and the dialogues of Fear and Hope. - An open letter open to be signed (more info on the talk), - I haven't checked if you did, please ignore then. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:36, 7 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I uploaded more pics, on a mountain in the sun above the fog. - Madeleine Riffaud - remember. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:28, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I uploaded pics of a trip that was a 10-day celebration of a 16 November event, but the day was also when a dear friend died. We sang Hevenu shalom aleichem at his funeral yesterday, and it was good. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:34, 30 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

December music

Listen today to Beethoven's 3rd cello sonata, on his birthday - it was a hook in the 2020 DYK set when his 250th birthday was remembered. I picked a recording with Antônio Meneses, because he was on my sad list this year, and I was in Brazil (see places), and I love his playing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:06, 16 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I come to fix the cellist's name, with a 10-years-old DYK and new pics - look for red birds --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:56, 18 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
