I noticed that you created the page SMK Semera -- Thanks for Contributing! -- I wanted to mention that if you leave the page with only one line of content, it is likely to be deleted according to the Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. Adding a few wikilinks will likely remove this threat.

Thanks and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Re: Help

In order to improve it you need to find outside sources that state the subjects notability. It also helps if you add links to the article. (PS, Thanks for choosing me to help you, any reason why you choose me?) The Placebo Effect (talk) 02:17, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

To create a user page, just edit the tab on the upper left that is red and says "User page". And sure, Everyone is a friend on the wiki? The Placebo Effect (talk) 02:28, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Barnstars are ginen to you by other users to commend the good work you have done. Also, dont add the helpme template to my talk page, that adds me to a category that I need help, when it is not the case. The Placebo Effect (talk) 02:47, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

SMK Semera

You need to find reliable sources (see WP:RS) that discuss the school. You haven't even given us a location or what grade levels the school teaches. These a minimum criteria for inclusion. See WP:N & WP:V. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 03:27, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

helpme

You seem to be under a misapprehension about this template. If you want to talk to a specific user, to ask for help or otherwise, then just leave a note on that user's talk page, as you did on User talk:Carlossuarez46. They'll be notified they have messages the next time they log on. If you want help and don't care who gives it, you can edit your own talk page (i.e. this page), explaining what your problem is and using the tag helpme. This will put your name on a list of people who need help, and someone should quickly come to your assistance. Happy editing! Algebraist 03:53, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Admins

Hi Mark, welcome to Wikipedia. I did a small amount of editing to the SMK Semera article you started, mainly yo point out the specific places where you need to provide proper sources for the information in the article. One small matter: I note you are referring to yourself as a "new admin". On Wikipedia, administrators are experienced users who have a few extra responsibilities. Most users, like yourself, are editors. Its generally not a good idea to claim you are an admin here unless you are one: it could mislead other editors. Anyway, good luck and let me know if there are other questions I can help you with, Gwernol 03:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Help Needed!

I am Mark and i had created a page - SMK Semera but i don't know how to add a reference and there are so many [Citation Needed] template. The references are:

1.Asajaya/http:en.wikipedia.org.wiki/Asajaya

2.SMK Semera School Magazine

3.SMK Semera diary

4.Mr. Longgo bin Mohammad

I hope someone can help me out. Can you teach me how to give barnstars?

--Mark Chung (talk) 00:09, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mark, I suggest you start by reading Wikipedia:Citing sources which is gives you instructions about how and why to source articles. Its rather long, but there is a lot of good information there. Please be aware though that several of your proposed sources are not appropriate for Wikipedia articles. All sources must be verifiable which means that personal recollections by you or anyone else (e.g. Mr. bin Mohammad) cannot be used as sources. Ironically Wikipedia articles also cannot be used as sources, since they can be edited by anyone. The SMK Semera school magazine probably is a reliable source, as long as it has been published and copies are available to anyone to read.
For information about giving barnstars, see Wikipedia:Barnstars. Best, Gwernol 00:16, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Editor&Admin

Hi.I am an editor and I want to be an adminstrator. What are the requirements to become an admin?--Mark Chung (talk) 13:08, 10 January 2008 (UTC)helpme

Hi Mark. There are no set in stone requirements. Most editors want to see broad experience across the project, including substantive mainspace edits (i.e., to the encyclopedia proper), familiarity with behind the scenes work (admin-like activities), participation in XfD processes such as at WP:AFD, knowledge of WP:CSD, vandalism fighting, civility, no blocks in your history, knowledge of policy and application of that knowledge, no vandalism and so on. In general, no one with less than 2,000 edits is almost ever made an admin. While edit count alone tells us little about you as a whole, experience can only be gained through editing, so the number is a gross indicator. Please note that with 53 edits total, you have no chance whatever at this time of being made an administrator based on lack of experience. I say this not to be harsh but to present to you a reality and hopefully stop you from the harsh results of posting an RFA that cannot succeed. Please read Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship, and review the current candidates at WP:RFA.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:17, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Vandals

How can I notice, warn and fight vandals?Mark Chung (talk) 13:41, 10 January 2008 (UTC)helpme

That's quite easy. In the section interaction on the left side of the window, you see the point "Recent changes". There you can see the changes, which were just made. There are signs, which show vandalism. Sometimes it is very clear, as "Replaced page with Fuck..." Other cases are much more difficult to see. For example an IP number or an editor with a username, written in red, makes a longer edit or removal of text. With time, you will get a feeling for this. You remove the vandalism (but be sure it really is vandalism or you will be blocked because of the three reverts rule very fast) and then you add a vandalism warning on the vandal's talkpage. Warnings can be found here There you can find additional informations about vandalism. After the final warning, you report the vandal at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and the rest is no problem of yours any more. You have successfully fought a vandal. Much luck and happy editing.--Thw1309 (talk) 16:06, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Projects

How can I get involved in Wikiprojects? How do I count my contributions? Manually (one-by-one) or with a feature? How can I know if an another Wikipedian is online or not?--Mark Chung (talk) 01:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC)helpme

If the page of the WikiProject you're interested in doesn't make it clear how to get involved, you could try asking at the WikiProject talk page. If no-one answers the Project's probably dead anyway. See Wikipedia:WikiProject edit counters. I believe there's some kind of bot that lists users' status, but I can't find it right now. All it does is checks how much time has elapsed since your last edit anyway. Algebraist 01:28, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
It's User:StatusBot. Algebraist 01:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
But it's crashed, and been replaced by User:Chris G Bot 3. Algebraist 01:30, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
(e/c) Wikiprojects are easy to join. Just find one you are interested in and with most, just add your name to a list of participants (see here for a list). They are generally places you need to come to and you need to act to participate in. Another words, someone may propose something on a talk page for people to collaborate on; the project doesnlt come to you , though they may have a newsletter. You can count your contributions using one of the many counters at WP:COUNT. I prefer Interiots counter. As or knowing whether someone is online, you can't, that is, unless they have set up one of those "status" fields on their userpage which tell everyone whether they are.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:33, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Templates

Where can I find more detail templates such as age, hobbies, favourites etc. ?(Like in my user page) Mark Chung (talk) 04:26, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

If you mean userboxes (since templates don't have hobbies or whatnot) you can find them here. -- Mentifisto 04:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Mark, the link you just added to Microscope was to a site that has a copy of the Wikipedia article on Microscope. In other words it was a link back to an earlier version of the same article. This is not useful and I have removed it for you. You might want to spend some time reading our guidelines on external links. Good luck, Gwernol 10:06, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Wikiproject chess

Hi, and thanks for joining wikiproject chess! I notice you speak Chinese, and I would be very grateful if you could have a look at the Chinese Chess Championship. I translated this page myself from web sources in Chinese (although i can't read Chinese!). It would be nice if you could have a look at the article to see if there are any mistakes and perhaps you can fill in the missing winners (1962 and possibly 2007 championship). Possibly the winners can be found on the internet; but I just cant find them. All the best and happy editing! Voorlandt (talk) 17:29, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Thousands Of Questions!

GOSH! I got thousands of questions ...... er ...... I mean 6

1.How can I link a word to a page (e.g. clicking "here" leads to another page etc.)

2.How can I make my name funky(e.g. ZacharyCrimsonWolf - clicking Zachary leads to his user page, Crimson for talk page and Wolf for contributions)?

3.How can I upload a picture?

4.Is there an editor can do but an admin can't?

5.How can I count other user's contibutions?

6.How can I protect a page? helpme--Mark Chung (talk) 00:34, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi there! I hope I can answer these to the best of my ability.

1. You can use "Wikilinks", which consist of placing before a word and after it (example: Sun; to change the text you see but keep the link destination, text you see. You can also use HTML linking; just paste a url into two brackets, like this; http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Mark_Chung link title].

2. You would just have to wikilink each part of the name. ZacharyCrimsonWolf yields ZacharyCrimsonWolf.

3. See WP:UPLOAD.

4. Nothing technical; I guess an administrator can't run for a request for adminship, because that would be useless as they already have it.

5. See here for a list of edit counters.

6. Since you aren't an administrator, and only administrators can protect pages, you should file a request at requests for page protection.

Hope that helps! Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 00:42, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Newpage

How can I create a new page ?helpme

Before creating an article, please search Wikipedia first to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Please also review a few of our relevant policies and guidelines which all articles should comport with. As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, articles must not contain original research, must be written from a neutral point of view, should cite to reliable sources which verify their content and must not contain unsourced, negative content about living people.
Articles must also demonstrate the notability of the subject. Please see our subject specific guidelines for people, bands and musicians, companies and organizations and web content and note that if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends against you creating the article.
If you still think an article is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article for guidance, and please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation.
Apologies for giving a templated response, but I think it says everything rather better than I can. Algebraist 15:19, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Quiz

I visited the Department of Fun and found a fish related quiz. I would like to create a game like that too. How can I do that? Also, must I put a summary after editing? Will it affect my RFA in future or cause inconvenience? I saw that most of my edits are without summary in the Interiots Counter.--Mark Chung (talk) 03:28, 26 January 2008 (UTC) helpme

 1. I have NO IDEA what the department of fun is, but Wikipedia is not a place to play games.
 2. You should ALWAYS enter an edit summary so other editors know what you are doing
 3. You have been at Wikipedia less than one month, and you have edited an article exactly 17 times. I don't think Adminship is in your near future. You may want to become more familiar at Wikipedia and gain more experience making constructive edits to articles first.
I hope that answers you questions. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:50, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
To expand a bit, you should enter an edit summary wherever possible, since it helps other editors to know what to look for when they review your edit. Small edits like spelling and grammar fixes may be given a similarly small edit summary--no need for complete sentences.
I've got to agree with Jayron32, though, that you probably shouldn't be worrying about RFA for now. Most people have well over a thousand edits before they are nominated, so someone with only 17 mainspace edits wouldn't be able to pass. That said, though, people will be looking more at your recent edits when you do request adminship, so some small mistakes when you're still new are nothing to worry about. --Sopoforic (talk) 06:36, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
If you'd like to create this game, please do not do so on Wikipedia. Also, edit summaries are not mandatory, but should be entered whenever you are able to, as this lets other editors figure out what you are doing. Yes, most users who participate at RfA like to see lots of edit summaries because an edit summary may help eliminate confusion. Anyway, I hope that helps. Response to comments on my talk page

As to your edit history: its visible for all to see here: [1] And you have been editing Wikipedia since January 8th. Last I checked, the time expired between January 8th and January 26th is less than one month, as I accurately described above. Also, the number of times you have edited an actual Wikipedia ARTICLE, as opposed to a talk page, or user talk page, or something else is as follows:

So it looks like I was wrong. You have edited 16 articles, not 17 as I said above. My bad.
Finally, it was YOU and not I who brought up WP:RFA. I was responding to your question.
So please, before posting to my talk page, telling me that I do not know what I am talking about, you may want to check yourself. You asked for answers to your questions. I answered them. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 06:42, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Department of Fun

As you can see above, many Wikipedians disagree that I create a new quiz in Department of Fun because they think I shouldn't play in Wikipedia(probably?). If so, who created the quizzies in there? I am totally stuck!--Mark Chung (talk) 01:35, 29 January 2008 (UTC)helpme

Hi there! I'm sorry some of the responses above have seemed a little harsh. Actually, I have found that many wikipedia users do not know about the department of fun (thus some of their hostility). A great way to create something a little entertaining and fun on wikipedia is to do so in a subpage of your user space. Don't go overboard or anything. Then, once you have created it, you can link to it from the DoF. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to respond here or on my talk page. Quiz

I want to put a link of my quiz on Portal:Animals like the fish quiz but I don't know how. Could someone help me to do that? The link to my quiz is at the bottom of my user page or at WP:FUN.--Mark Chung (talk) 02:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

You have to link to it in the Portal. You might want to go to Portal talk:Animals to ask someone to do it for you. And for the fish quiz, the scoreboard has to be manually updated. bibliomaniac15 02:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
You would have to put your quiz in the mainspace, i.e. not on one of your userpages. It could have a name like the name of the page the fish quiz is on. You could just edit one of the boxes on the portal page and add a note about the quiz. If you want to add a separate box about it it would take me a little longer to figure out how (I probably could, I guess). --Coppertwig (talk) 02:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. Some quizzes have links from portals. For example, Portal:Fish has a link to "the fish quiz". Maybe you could put a link from an appropriate portal to your quiz. It might be a good idea to ask on the portal's talk page first to see if anyone objects. Also, it would probably be appropriate to move your quiz out of your userspace if you do that; maybe you could give it a name like the one for fish. Because people following links from the Main Page are not supposed to end up in userspace. --Coppertwig (talk) 02:39, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

How can I find other user's secret pages?helpme--Mark Chung (talk) 02:23, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't think that's the kind of thing the helpme page is for. I don't know how to find users' secret pages, but I think you're supposed to figure it out yourself -- no cheating. :-) I think secret pages are for fun, and the helpme template is for when you actually need help figuring out how to work on writing the encyclopedia. Sorry. I turned off your helpme template by inserting "tl". You can turn it on again by deleting that. --Coppertwig (talk) 02:39, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Usually they're hidden in links in people's userpages. They're actually really easy to find. However, I'm concerned that you seem to be misunderstanding what Wikipedia is about. It's about writing articles, not social networking. Please try to do something like vandal fighting or something else constructive. bibliomaniac15 04:25, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you seem to be enjoying yourself, it's of concern that you appear to be mainly using Wikipedia for social networking activities rather than working to improve the encyclopedia. Recent edits

Hi Mark. I don't mean to sound unfriendly, however I'm a little concerned over your editing pattern. Most of your edits appear to be in the userspaces (anything with the User: or User talk: prefixes). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia first and foremost, not a network for socializing. Your help is need to make it grow. I look on your user page and it says that you speak Chinese. Maybe could you take a look at helping to translate articles? Just a heads up

I thought you might like to know that the Awards Center page has been deleted, along with its newsletter.  :(

So, where do we go from here?

To new and even more interesting projects, of course!

As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.

Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon.

It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them!

This is going to be interesting.

And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!

If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know.

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

The Transhumanist    21:46, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

I need your feedback...

Which of the following medals looks better. This one:

Or this one:

Which one do you like better?

Please let me know.

Thank you for your feedback. The Transhumanist    01:46, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

How to edit your notice

Per your request, I've added a notice to the top of your talk page. To change the text in the message, edit the page User:Mark Chung/Notice.

I hope that fits your needs.

The Transhumanist    01:46, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

What is Around the World?

It's a collaboration!

A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!

If everything goes according to plan, it will begin on July 15th.

The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia and perhaps beyond) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."

The set of pages we are working on is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.

Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.

The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200 political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!

For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees.  :) The energy is contagious.

And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.

The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.

For an example of what a nearly complete page looks like, see these:

List of basic Albania topicsList of basic Argentina topicsList of basic Australia topicsList of basic Canada topicsList of basic Ecuador topicsList of basic Egypt topicsList of basic France topicsList of basic Germany topicsList of basic Iceland topicsList of basic India topicsList of basic Indonesia topicsList of basic Iraq topicsList of basic Republic of Ireland topicsList of basic Italy topicsList of basic Isle of Man topicsList of basic Israel topicsList of basic Japan topicsList of basic Macau topicsList of basic Mexico topicsList of basic Russia topicsList of basic Taiwan topicsList of basic United Kingdom topicsList of basic United States topics

There are only about 200 more pages to go!

During the collaboration, co-coordinators will be standing by, to lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators will also be using advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.

Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

RfA Review Recommend Phase

Could someone tell me more about RfA review Recommend Phase? Here are my questions:

 1. How/Where am I going to answer? On my talkpage? Someone's talkpage?
 1. What is this for?
 1. Where can I get a quick info about RfA, nominations, adminship and stuff like that? I asked some of the users/editors/admins and they just said "You're not experienced enough" / "You don't have enugh qualifications" etc. I just want to familiarize myself with all those things... Please help me!
Hi Mark. There are no specific rules about how to become an admin, but there are some generally accepted guidelines. If you go to WP:RFA, you should be able to read a whole lot of information about what those guidelines tend to be. If you feel that you are ready to start the process of becoming an admin, many users choose to go through admin coaching to prepare themselves. Prince of Canada t | c 04:12, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Status report on the Country outlines (Around the World) project

Penubag has been hard at work developing awards for this project. He has completed a very professional looking medal, and is almost done with a trophy that is truly awesome - both of these awards are visually stunning.

I and a few others have been working steadily on the country outlines - one for every country of the world! They're shaping up nicely. So far, 28 of them have been moved to article space - these aren't complete, but they are complete enough to be made available for readers to benefit from them. The rest of the set still includes temporary data that was generated by template (because it matched most but not all of the countries), and before the lists can be moved to article space, all the temporary data needs to be checked for accuracy, and if incorrect it needs to be replaced with correct information.

The effort on the lists has been on 3 fronts:

 1. Working on the lists in article space to complete them so they will be good examples for editors working on the rest of the set.
 2. Adding or correcting other data (fixing redlinks, filling in blanks, etc.). The main type of work participants in "the contest" will be doing. The reason we're doing this is to get a feel for it, to develop the fastest methods for each type of task, etc.
 3. Improving the overall design and implenting changes on all 247 pages, whether in article space or not.

There has been some opposition to us running the contest based on edit counts or iterations. The concern is that we should reward quality work and not quantity, for fear of crappy edits done quickly without thought. I pointed out that the collection of pages are drafts in the Wikipedia namespace (therefore posing no danger to article space) and that most of the work needs to be done with power tools like AWB and Linky (which are specifically designed for repetitive work), but the reply was that we shouldn't set the precedent of rewarding barnstars for numerically-based tasks, and implied the threat of continuously MfD'ing the contest if we attempted to do so (like they did with the Awards Center - I was very surprised and disappointed that participants didn't step up to defend it). So we need to be careful in determining what exactly the awards will represent, and how they will be awarded.

Since rewarding iterations (passes with AWB on all of the pages in the set) are out, we really don't need the globe in stand anymore. Two awards should suffice.

Once we get started with the contest, I'd like to kick the whole thing off with a round of medals for those dedicated few who have worked hard on the project so far.

What do you think of all of this?

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.

AdventureQuest

Hi Mark, surely you must be familiar with Wikipedia's core WP:Verifiability policy? The critical reception section needs to be constructed from information from reliable, independent sources. Now the nearest I could find to this was the two reviews I cited in the rewritten section. What do you mean by a website that has views from many people? If you mean forums, or blogs, or user-submitted reviews, then we simply do not use these as they are not reliable sources. Is "just a view from a GAMER" appropriate? When they are published by a reliable, independent source, they are the only things that are appropriate. In its current form, the section violates our WP:Original research policy. You can provide citations, or I can remove it again. Thanks, Marasmusine (talk) 09:26, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mark. Based on the link you provided, [2], we can write: "AdventureQuest free-to-play spots are limited to 6500 players." Beyond that, you're delving into WP:Original research. The "bypass the server cap" section should not be used at all, as a piece of OR. I also see that the in-depth character class table and so on are back. This is excessive in-universe information; please see the video game article guidelines, particularly WP:GAMECRUFT, and the writing about fiction guidelines. Looking at the edit history, you also note that you removed my "critical reception" paragraph because the links were unreliable. Do you have any particular rationale for how OMGN and Grrlgamer are not reliable sources? If they aren't, then it rather leaves the article without anything to satisfy the general notability guidelines. Marasmusine (talk) 13:27, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mark, I'm not angry, I'm very sorry if I sounded a bit short with you above. WP:NPOV is there to makes sure that you and I, the Wikipedia editors, write in a neutral point of view. We can print the opinions of other people, provided they have been published by a reliable source. If I take in account everything we've discussed today, will you trust me to make some changes to the article again? I'll start with the critical reception section, but I'll also include the server cap information that you've pointed out, and I'll correctly clean up the "game cruft". Re: Your ArbCom Vote

Thanks for your interest in this year's ArbCom elections. Unfortunately, we were required to set a criteria for voters, and that was decided to be the following:

 • Voters must have a registered account that was created on or before November 1, 2008.
 • Voters must have made 150 edits to articles on that account on or before November 1, 2008.

According to an automatic check, which I confirmed by looking at your contribution history, you have not met the requirements. Either you have not made 150 edits to articles (these edits must be in the main namespace) or you did not make them before the deadline of 23:59:59 November 1, 2008 (UTC). I've indented your votes. If you believe I sent this message in error, and that you do meet the requirements, please let me know on my talk page. Thanks, ST47 (talk) 20:42, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Re:Hi!

Sorry I'm late - I haven't been on Wikipedia since before Thanksgiving (was out of town). Everything Marasmusine was saying seems reasonable - having verifiable sources is important. It seems the two of you have worked everything out now, right? If you want to look for sources, I suggest starting at the WP:VG's list of sources. Oh, and I do have an AQ account, but I rarely use it 'cause I'm busy and I prefer DF. --Eruhildo (talk) 03:57, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Help!

I have 2 questions...

 1. How can I get an article rated?
 2. How can I archive a page?

--Mark Chung (talk) 07:04, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

We have article assessment, which determine quality of article, basically this is done with related WikiProject on each article. Second, only talk page need to be archive, and more than 30KB, just place Talk:ARTICLETALKPAGE/Archive 1. If somehow archive 1 is full, then create archive 2. --Aleenf1 07:36, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Replace "left:" with "right:" in this case to decide where it will be. <div style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; font-size: 300px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 300px; z-index: 3">...</div> The line above will make an invisible link appear above the picture, so that whoever clicks on it will be led to the link's destination (in this case, the non-existent article on "So sheepy...") instead of the picture's file. <div style="position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; z-index: 2"> This line adds the image. </div></div></div>

After you close it all up, you should get a floating picture in the bottom left corner.

As for formatting buttons, that stumps me; unless you've disabled them in your preferences, they must've just failed to load. There's nothing on my page which should stop them from showing up, at least. Hope that helps, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 21:41, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Umm...

I read Talk:AdventureQuest and saw:

How are they nominated/chosen/qualified? Can I be one of them?

Question reopened. Answer given not related.

This most probably has the information you require. You don't have to be nomianted or chosen, you just place the template with your username substituted in it into the talk page of the article you have interest in. Please reopen or contact me if you need anything else. MattieTK 14:27, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of SMK Semera

A tag has been placed on SMK Semera requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 01:15, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion

It has NO references, it establishes NO relevance, and it isn't well written. If it fails speedy deletion then it will just move onto regular deletion. ムーカオズルール(Talk to Moo) 02:52, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

As reviewing administrator, I removed the speedy tag, for schools are specifically specified in the guideline as not been subject to speedy deletion for lack of notabiluty. As for the actual notability, at afd it is typically argued that there will always prove to be references for secondary schools if sufficiently examined. But as there is nothing at all in the way of sources here, I recommend you first make a very careful search of your own to find some. I'd advise you to add this very quickly, before it gets nominated for regular deletion. At this point, anything would help, but we really want 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases)DGG (talk) 03:03, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Actually, you didn't remove the speedy tag, though I figured that's what you were trying to do so I removed it myself and AfDed it. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:11, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of SMK Semera

I have nominated SMK Semera, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SMK Semera. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:06, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

IP address

 1. How can we identify sockpuppets? Through their IP addresses? What if they have dynamic IP address? What if someone made a bad edit, logged out, cut the internet connection off, reconnect, log in in an another account just to avoid blocking/banning?
 2. Since I'm a rollbacker, can I know the date I became one?--Mark Chung (talk) 09:55, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Sock puppets are identified via behavioural traits (Fields of interest etc) and also IP or IP range checking methods. You became a rollbacker on the 29th of February 2008   «l| Ψrometheăn ™|l»  (talk) 10:48, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

What's Wrong?

Help! I really need help! SMK Semera is nominated for deletion! User:Collectonian, which is a deletionist, nominated it for deletion! Please vote! (I hope you vote Keep) I've changed the article a little bit. Is the article okay now? Is there any way I can improve the article further? --Mark Chung (talk) 12:38, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. You might want to read Wikipedia:CANVASS. An article being nominated for deletion isn't what the help tag is intended for! --Chasingsol(talk) 12:47, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay, my question is "I've changed the article a little bit. Is the article okay now? Is there any way I can improve the article further? " --Mark Chung (talk) 12:58, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, you should add citations to verify the content in the article. Currently, there are just links at the bottom of the page. You need to establish verifiability. --Chasingsol(talk) 13:01, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

helpme

Heya Mark,
An article might get deleted for several policy reasons and fixing the mentioned issues might help keep the article but it might not be enough. I would suggest (A) saving a copy of the article on your computer. (B) getting more familiar with the Wikipedia:AFD policy.
Hope that helps, JaakobouChalk Talk 13:05, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Vicomaster

Thanks for letting me know. I've watchlisted the page now, and will be interested to see what VicoMaster produces in response to Sandstein's suggestion. Putting his money where his mouth is, if thats the expression. Euryalus (talk) 10:53, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Adoption

You have much you need to learn here. I think I will adopt you, even though it's a relatively new enterprise for me. bibliomaniac15 20:51, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

I'd love to help out in any way I can. If you want, Bibliomaniac can adopt you and I can just pop in from time to time to weigh in; your choice. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 12:16, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Haha, I dunno. I guess I can be mom so that biblio doesn't have to be. :P Anyway, adoption doesn't have to be a strict one-on-one thing, and there aren't really any steadfast rules anyway. But yeah, I'd love to co-adopt/help adopt you! Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 14:48, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, as MoP says, there really aren't any steadfast rules. I've never really heard of a co-adoption, but whatever suits you. Besides, we're all equals around here, so the scenario is a little like Two and a Half Men, I guess... bibliomaniac15 18:22, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Invitation to Contribute

Hi fellow Malaysians! Please note that I have created a article entitled Kuala Terengganu by-election, 2009 for the coming by-election on 17 January, 2008. I would appreciate if Malaysians Wikipedians out there lend a hand and contribute to the article. Regards. Roman888 (talk) 17:46, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
