The nom does want deletion on List of Xbox 360 games, as well, as noted in the AFD. I have restored the AFD tag on the Xbox 360 list, even though I strongly support keeping the list, as also noted. MuZemike (talk) 01:07, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

SUL category
editWhat's the point of having a category that displays all people having accessed a feature? It's not like someone might want to choose to collaborate only with users that have SUL. -- Mentisock 15:32, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

User page edits
editPlease don't edit other editors' userpages in the future without their permission (see WP:UP#OWN). It's not generally appreciated, and I see you've been warned about this before. Regarding your recent edit to my user page, I in fact intended to use bullets and not asterisks, and your edit was not helpful. » šᾦῥъτ • ¢ 01:22, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Templates on their own line
editThanks for the adjustment and others. Just letting you know that I add the template using Twinkle and that's how it adds it; if you think it should be changed, drop User:AzaToth a line. Stifle (talk) 10:05, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I should do that. Kinda annoying when

because a script wants to insert it that way.
Besides, I have some other requests for Twinkle. --Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 11:45, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

- Sorry, I can't answer those questions as I'm not the operator of the bot that checks for fair use of files uploaded to Wikipedia. Those questions will need to go to Carnildo (talk · contribs). Speedy deletion of Template:Documentation/userbox preload
editA tag has been placed on Template:Documentation/userbox preload requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).
Thanks. --Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 18:40, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Lightsup55. I came here for another reason, see next section. But first:
- 1: Funny that Twinkle left a notification to yourself about that you asked for that page to be speedy deleted. :)
- If you see the edit Twinkle left here you see that it messed up and signed your message twice, and left an empty if-case above the message that caused an extra newline. I fixed that in my previous edit. (You might want to check what caused that.)
- 2: I have now deleted the Template:Documentation/userbox preload page for you, since as you know I know the exact reason why that page should be deleted. (Well, it was my fault so...) While I was at it I also deleted Template:Userbox documentation/preload that redirected to that page.
- --David Göthberg (talk) 02:10, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- Twinkle uses {{Db-csd-notice-custom}}. I found it when I looked through your edit in the page history and it noted
<!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom -->
. Look for hidden comments like that as some templates (mostly those used on talk pages) that should be substituted should also have a hidden comment that notes what template the text came from. As for the reason why I got a message from me on my own talk page is because I forgot to remove the "Notify if possible" checkbox. I guess it is a good thing that I did forget and that you noticed that mistake by the template/Twinkle so now I can poke around to see what causes it and hopefully fix it. --Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 06:15, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- Twinkle uses {{Db-csd-notice-custom}}. I found it when I looked through your edit in the page history and it noted

, which in-turn makes{{Db-csd-notice-custom|1=Documentation/userbox preload|2=T3}}
. I managed to fix the blank if statement, but the double signature is Twinkle's fault, which I cannot fix. I believe that administrators can edit anyone user's .js and .css pages within the user namespace. Either way, AzaToth (talk · contribs) would be the guy to talk to about fixing the the double signature. --Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 06:34, 15 February 2009 (UTC){{Db-T3-notice|Documentation/userbox preload}}

Your template expertise
editNow for the real reason I came here to your talk page:
As you know we have now bumped into each other when working with several different templates. And I find it very likely that we will keep bumping into each other, since we work in the same area here. So I want to explain my behaviour/reactions/reasoning:
I see that you clearly have a real talent for and an interest in template programming. I think you will soon be one of our major template experts! But you are still a bit rough around the edges and have a lot to learn. So instead of just honouring your editprotected requests and fixing the things you have missed in the requests I will continue to pester you with questions, advice and suggestions for what I think needs changing/improving.
Also: English is not my native language, since I live in Sweden, Northern Europe. So sometimes when I write English I can sound rough and negative. But that is partly my lacking language ability, although sometimes I sound the same way in Swedish. Anyway, I don't mean to sound that way.
So now when you know the reasons for my behaviour I hope you won't mind? Oh, and I am looking forward to the not very distant day when you will be just as frequently correcting and improving the mistakes I do in my code and suggestions.
And by the way, I am right now reusing one of your code ideas. I'll come back and tell you about it and ask for your input on it when I have thought a bit more about it and did some more code testing. (If you don't hear from me in a week or so, feel free to poke me on my talk page about it.)

Redirect template: {{R from shortcut}}
editHi there! You may already be aware of this, but when creating redirects and sorting them with templates please note the difference between {{R from shortcut}} (which is meant for project namespace such as WP:SHORTCUT) and {{R from abbreviation}} (which is for article mainspace). For example, redirect GFW - Live should be tagged with {{R from abbreviation}}, NOT {{R from shortcut}}. Thank you. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 19:55, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Volunteer opportunity in Bethesda, Thursday, July 16
editThe Wikimedia Foundation will be conducting an all-day Academy at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Maryland, on Thursday, July 16. The team that will be teaching at the Academy, a mix of paid staff and volunteers, is looking for four more volunteers to be teaching assistants, providing one-to-one assistance in workshops whenever a workshop participant has a problem following the instructional directions. (We currently have two editors signed up as teaching assistants, and are looking for a total of six.)
The NIH editing workshops are only for two hours, but volunteers are asked to meet the Wikimedia Foundation team at the hotel in Bethesda at about 7:15 a.m. (time to be finalized shortly) and to stay for the entire day, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. (The full schedule can be found here.)
The team is not necessarily looking for expert editors (though they are welcome), just people who can help novices who might get stuck when trying to do some basic things. If you've been an editor for at least 3 months, and have done at least 500 edits, you probably qualify.
If you're interested, please send John Broughton an email. If you might be interested, but would like further information, please post a note on his user talk page, so that he can respond there, and others can see what was asked.

Where did the devil go?
editThere are 54 redirects to The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Of these, 43 attempt to link to a section or anchor within that article, but every one fails, presumably because subsequent edits to the article have removed the anchors and changed the section titles. As you created all but one of these redirects (and edited the other, adding the section redirect) I thought that you might want a chance to sort it out. Ironically, the only anchor remaining in the entire article is The Devil Went Down to Georgia#The Devil Comes Back to Georgia marking the start of the "Sequel" section, but the redirects Devil Comes Back to Georgia and The Devil Comes Back to Georgia were edited to link to the overall article.
Even mention of some of these versions or parodies has been removed from the article (though it retains an {{examplefarm}} tag), but I'm sure you know that mention in an article is not necessary for a redirect's existence, and that removal of such material is seldom accepted a grounds for deletion over at WP:RfD. -- ToET 23:09, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and if you want me to take care of it, I would probably choose to target all the "version and parody" redirects to the "Other versions and parodies" section whether or not they are still mentioned there. While I would not object to you recreating anchors for those versions still mentioned, in my mind the advantage of targeting the specific entry doesn't quite outweigh the disadvantages. On the other hand, I probably would retarget The Devil Comes Back to Georgia and its kin to the "Sequel" section.
- A lot of these redirects also need to be tagged with {{R from other capitalisation}} or {{R from incorrect name}}, leaving only one redirect for each version or parody as printworthy. -- ToET 01:43, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- Nothing heard, I went ahead and fixed them in the manner I suggested. -- ToET 12:45, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Upper and lower case shortcuts should have the same target to avoid confusion so I changed WP:Current to match WP:CURRENT. Upper case is the main form for shortcuts and many expect them to work in upper case so if you make a lower case shortcut then please make an upper case at the same time or ensure they have the same target. You can place a hatnote on the target if you think many users will be looking for another page. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:39, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- I thought it was recent but I now see you made it 7 January 2009. Not used to 2010 yet... It has no incoming links and I still think it should match upper case. There are probably few who have gotten used to the old target and want it again. Help:Diff is not the kind of page people often return to, unlike Portal:Current events. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
editHello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.
For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:42, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Main Page appearance
editHello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of songs in Guitar Hero II know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on January 28, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/January 28, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. Thanks! Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 03:49, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
Players can recreate the lead guitar portions of many rock music songs in the music video game Guitar Hero II using a specially designed guitar-shaped controller (pictured), based on either a Gibson SG for the PlayStation 2 version, a Gibson Explorer for the Xbox 360 version, or else a standard console controller. There are 64 songs total in the PlayStation 2 version while there are 74 songs total for the later Xbox 360 version. The Xbox 360 version adds an additional 24 downloadable songs via Xbox Live Marketplace, bringing the total to 98 songs. The downloadable songs include songs from the original Guitar Hero for the PlayStation 2. Most songs in the game are covers of the original songs performed by WaveGroup Sound, but there are some master recordings. All bonus songs are master recordings that are unlockable by using in-game money within the game's store. The song "Raw Dog" by The Last Vegas was selected as part of the "Be a Guitar Hero" contest for the release of Guitar Hero II.
The Cars / Natalya Medvedeva
editHey why do you keep adding Natalya Medvedeva to the Cars' Shake It Up album cover? There are NO reliable sources stories that show Natalya ever posed for that cover, she did pose for the Cars' debut album but that's it. Only bloggers with falsely attached her name to the album cover. The actual real model is Mary Ann Walsh, a blonde native New Jersey girl. Compare the girl and Natalya Medvedeva, they look nothing a like. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PassTheGoodNews (talk • contribs) 03:05, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

The article Let's Start a Riot has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Does not appear to meet WP:NALBUMS.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Walter Görlitz (talk) 08:22, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
Nomination of Let's Start a Riot for deletion
editA discussion is taking place as to whether the article Let's Start a Riot is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Let's Start a Riot until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:10, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
