Cairo Children's Museum

edit

Hi I've expanded it. If you come across an article that is a crappy stub in future, please ask the editor to try to expand it first. If they don't respond, then proceed to AFD. Its just it saves a lot of time, we know there are many poor stubs on here, but a lot of them could be filled out and notability asserted if the person who started it is given a chance to expand. Best Dr. Blofeld> White cat 21:59, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry - I admit, I had jumped to conclusions a little too early. I'll give definitely give it more thought next time. :) —La Pianista (TC) 22:13, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not to worry. Actually I can see how the name itself might have influenced you, if I'd come across a one liner on something called Child Museum I'd probably think the same. I started a list of museums from a missing list of Greece and Egypt which were considered of national significance but I'm afraid I got so caught up in starting them and trying to get them onto here that I forgot to expand them all. I usually create stubs at least with some assertion of notability or some content but it more thr desire to get them blue linked that I compromised quality. I had anticiapted that the musems wikiproject were working on them but I guess we're all busy. I'll make a note to try to fill some of them out, although sometimes I really take on more than I can handle by myself! Best Dr. Blofeld> White cat 22:20, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cairo Children's Museum Article Name

edit

Hello, La_Pianista, and Dr. Blofeld, {if you come here); you participated in the AfD for Child Museum (which has now been moved to Child Museum of Cairo). While I appreciate the value of making Child Museum into a disambiguation page, I'm concerned that by naming this article Child Museum of Cairo we've created a neologism. At the moment I write this, no sources give the title of the museum as "Child Museum of Cairo": doubtless wikipedia mirrors will pick up that name and distribute it. Most sources cite the museum's name as simply, "The Child Museum"; a few cite it as the "Cairo Children's Museum". I would recommend moving the article to either Child Museum (Cairo) or Cairo Children's Museum; feedback is appreciated. See the entry on the article talk page. Thanks, Baileypalblue (talk) 12:39, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the delay in response - but I support LittleMountain's decision. Thanks for notifying me, though. —La Pianista (TC) 06:34, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Papyrus

edit

According to me this article is vandalized too often. Perhaps it needs semiprotection. Leszek Jańczuk (talk) 00:16, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pianista is not an administrator, she cannot protect articles. WP:RPP is the right place to request a protection. Icy // 00:17, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I requested a protection for this page several days ago ([1]), but the answer was: "There is not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection at this time." Leszek Jańczuk (talk) 03:52, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
If the article has been vandalized again recently (i.e. in the time since the rfpp was declined), try requesting it again; otherwise, I doubt that it should be protected. Cheers, —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 03:56, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
How many times per day? Chubbennaitor 17:41, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
There has been a lot of vandalism on 20th, from the same user. In the past the article has been vandalised from time to time, but not a lot and not on a daily basis. Nothing that the vandal fighters can't deal with. The page won't be protected for one day's random increase in vandalism, particularly as there are several IPs that have made constructive contributions. Chamal talk 00:26, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Chamal's right, semi-protection should only be used when there's lots of IP/un-autoconfirmed vandalism, so much that anti-vandal people are missing some vandal edits. Which happened with Twilight (novel) a lot, so that one's semipro'd 'till sometime in the spring. Icy // 00:33, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I can't offer any better information. :) Vandalism has to be very frequent, upwards of about two or three times a day for about five days, and by different IPs.
And Ed, Icy, Chamal, Chubb...see edit summary. ;) —La Pianista (TC) 06:38, 22 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

What happened here? Chubbennaitor 09:19, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I myself aren't even sure. —La Pianista (TC) 19:41, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Then what are you doing here? Chubbennaitor 20:03, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Good question. :D —La Pianista (TC) 20:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sooo....

edit

What did you think of the interview? I thought it was fun, but then I looked at Nutiketaiel's HUGE answers and I felt ashamed, because mine were so small.... SimonKSK 21:44, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Likewise. I felt mine were moderately long, but Nutiketaiel's answers were the best. It was fun to do, though. :) —La Pianista (TC) 02:28, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Mine were barely 2 lines! Oh, well. You watching the Super Bowl?, Piano Player Pianista? SimonKSK 02:32, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
The first half at my Grandpaw's. Came home during halftime - I'm not crazy about football. :P —La Pianista (TC) 02:39, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, guys, now I'm blushing again. Though, I've got to say, I would have written things alot differently if I had known he was just going to copy and paste the interviews into the "article". I had assumed that he was going to do the interviews and then actually write an article from the information he had obtained. You know, like a reporter. I put alot of crap and asides and ramblings in there that I would not have done if I had known what he was planning.  :-( Nutiketaiel (talk) 14:11, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Haha, I feel the same, Nutik. I think I was WP:EUIing that day - I look back at it and cringe. And in the Signpost, of all things! :D Queenie Talk 16:57, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I think that we were all EUI there. 10 bucks I misspelled something. SimonKSK 21:16, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
(e/c) Yes, that was a little disappointing. I thought it was going to be written like a professional report, like out of NYT or something. —La Pianista (TC) 21:19, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Really? I was thinking Daily News..... SimonKSK 21:23, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I have left a statement expressing my disapproval here. I spoke for myself, not for the project, but you guys can feel free to join in. Nutiketaiel (talk) 13:09, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ha, you really are the outspoken one, aren't you, Nutiket? Admirable traits in a man, I tell you. Now you really will never wash this screen, will you? :P
But, like Garden said, he'll remind interviewees of the raw format next time. And your/our blunders in speech will be forgotten soon (I hope). —La Pianista (TC) 16:41, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually, I have printed out a screenshot and am going to have it framed.  :-) In seriousness, I have accepted his apology. I'm not really angry with him, or anything, and I wouldn't have changed a whole lot, just a few things that really would not have fit in a finished article. I am sure that they will be forgotten soon, but it doesn't change the fact that I look and feel like a schmuck for the time being. Nutiketaiel (talk) 17:56, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

For the time being. That'll only be there a week, you know, and there are plenty of schmucks out there to kick you out of the unseemly spotlight when they come. ;) —La Pianista (TC) 21:07, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I know, I know. It still doesn't make me feel better, though. I don't do a whole lot on Wikipedia, and I do even less of it well, but I don't like looking like a fool about one of the few things I do do well. Nutiketaiel (talk) 12:12, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
