Re: Talk page redesign

edit

I'm done to archive my talk page! Oh, and also I'm redesigned by talk page! Have a look, Meteoroid! I'm using a color scheme of the Codename: Kids Next Door cartoon which is credited for the KND logo. What do you think? Jigs41793 Talk/contribs 05:05, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Revert to my version again

edit

I revert to my version of my uploaded image, including the album art on the list pane and visualization -- because my latest version of my screenshot is much better than the Themodernizer's version. It IS IMPORTANT to keep this version as is. Ignore that 3rd-Party album art (just like the original screenshot by Harryboyles) so that the readers could show this. Image discussion

Hey, I got the WMP 11 XP screenshot fully protected and I started up a discussion on the talk page so we can find a resolution to this problem. As someone who's been involved with the issue, your thoughts would help. See: Image talk:Windows Media Player 11 XP.png#Protected. Thanks. -/- Warren 17:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Anti-Vandalism

edit

Hey, you are starting to improve your behavior by reverting vandalism.

Hello, Jigs41793! Thank you for reverting vandalism to Wikipedia. After you revert, I would recommend also warning the users whose edits you revert on their talk pages with an appropriate template or custom message. This will serve to direct new users towards the sandbox, educate them about Wikipedia, and a stern warning to a vandal may prevent him or her from vandalizing again. Thanks! — zero » 01:46, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Please note that when you give out warnings to user talk pages, always substitute templates. For example: {{subst:Template Name}}. Thank you. — zero » 02:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Replacement

edit

I don't want to report you to the administrators, which I believe has happened before, but please don't replace images which already represent an element within Microsoft Windows with new images with non-standard elements. If you want to replace these files, please use basic elements of the OS you are using, such as the default style for Windows Aero Glass and the Green background in Windows Vista, or the Luna (theme) with Bliss (image) in Windows XP. Thank you and please pay attention to each of us who have tried to advise you to do this. Chris (Talk) (Contribs) 02:10, 11 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Violence_Poster.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Violence_Poster.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BigrTex 23:01, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:KNDComic_-_OpBASSBOMB.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:KNDComic_-_OpBASSBOMB.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 12:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Long Signature Code

edit

When you hit edit, you can see your signature code is long. There is a way to solve this. First, put your code on your own page, like User:Jigs41793/Signature. Then, make a page using that as a template, like putting User:Jigs41793/Signature on User:Jigs41793/Sig. Then, in Preferences, put in User:Jigs41793/Sig as your signature and check the Raw Signature box. That will do it.

Image:Tom_Warburton.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tom_Warburton.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 17:32, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Nt351excel.png

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Nt351excel.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
