Welcome to Wikipedia: check out the Teahouse!

Hello! Coulomb1, you are invited to the Teahouse, a forum on Wikipedia for new editors to ask questions about editing Wikipedia, and get support from peers and experienced editors. Please join us! Liz Read! Talk! 22:35, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, Coulomb1,
If you have questions about something so specific and well-defined as article assessment for WikiProjects, it's better to bring it to the Teahouse than post a question on a Talk page that few people might ever come across. There are amost always some editors who are hanging out at the Teahouse and you are likely to get your answer faster there.
Also, please be careful with page moves and don't just move them because you think a different page title is better. There are guidelines about proper page titles and, for example, the category titles for article assessment are kept consistent over thousands of categories so inventing something new is not likely to be lasting. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:39, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Liz, thanks. This is helpful.
Sorry if my move was wrong. I saw that the title was uncapitalized so I thought it was a move not needing much discussion. Coulomb1 (talk) 23:52, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

January 2024

Hello, I'm Vanderwaalforces. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to ISBN have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. PS: The outcome of this your edit might be very much unintended, just letting you know. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 16:14, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Vanderwaalforces. I don't see exactly what the edit does wrong; could you please explain further? Coulomb1 (talk) 19:30, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please, take a look at your diff. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 19:53, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yep I still don't know what exactly I did wrong. I changed 'will' to 'much,' which I believe is better wording, and changed the source a bit.
I need a specific explanation of what I did wrong because I really have no idea lol. Coulomb1 (talk) 20:48, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You removed the short description template and added {{cite book |url=https://www.kb.se/download/18.71dda82e160c04f1cc412bc/1531827912246/ISBN International Users Manual - 7th edition.pdf |title=ISBN Users' Manual, International Edition |date=2017 |publisher=International ISBN Agency |year=2017 |isbn=978-92-95055-12-4 |edition=7th |location=London |language=en-us |access-date=28 January 2024 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191211194637/https://www.kb.se/download/18.71dda82e160c04f1cc412bc/1531827912246/ISBN International Users Manual - 7th edition.pdf |archive-date=11 December 2019 |url-status=live}} Vanderwaalforces (talk) 20:50, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
The short template removal was accidental but the rest was on purpose. Is there anything wrong with what I did besides the short description template? Coulomb1 (talk) 21:19, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Norms at AfD

edit

Hello Coulomb, thanks for contributing to the AfD discussion on EGM Green. I just wanted to let you know for future reference: generally if someone nominates an article for deletion on the grounds it fails notability guidelines, it's safe to assume they themselves have already attempted the standard checks for potentially useful sources and found nothing, unless you have good reason to think this isn't the case. Of course, you should perform your own independent checks to make sure the nominator hasn't missed anything, but the fact that the nominator has performed their own standard checks is usually left implicit. Cheers – Teratix 15:08, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!! I'll keep that in mind. Coulomb1 (talk) 15:45, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Deleting your draft

edit

Put Db-author inside double curly brackets {{ }} at the top of your draft and an Administrator will delete it. On most keyboards the {{ }} are next to the letter P. David notMD (talk) 22:55, 4 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I've transferred the information from my article to DirectCompute and added the template to my draft. Coulomb1 (talk) 22:57, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:52, 19 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
