Hi! I'm new to wikipedia editing, and also a fan of Marc Rebillet, hence how I found you! I too am a looping musician, trying to get my footing on this whole internet lifestyle, attempting to tick all the boxes of internet savvydom.. savvyness? hmm. anyhoo!

I was going to write a page about my life as a musical artist, and then it occurred to me that 1) I've no idea how to do this, and 2) I'm not sure if I even should at this stage of my career.

Either way, I figured I'd say hello and commend you for all of your hard work on here. And, if you feel like throwing some advice my way, that would be nice too, but of course it's not completely necessary.

I hope you're well! take care! - littlecrumb — Preceding unsigned comment added by Littlecrumb (talkcontribs) 07:06, 6 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Acoustic Planet in my Sandbox

edit
Hi Cloud Atlas, Maybe the article disappeared because I didn't publish it? If I do that, won't everyone be able to see it. I was hoping there was a way for you to see it before anyone else. Cheryl Fullerton (talk) 15:13, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Cheryl FullertonReply

Hey Cheryl Fullerton -- if you publish the article in your sandbox, it's technically true that everyone could theoretically see it, but in reality, no one is looking at other peoples' sandboxes. It's a fundamental principle of Wikipedia that everything happens in an open and public environment, so there isn't a way to privately share your work with me. But sandboxes (though also public) are meant to be a place for experimentation, and so there is no process that evaluates or oversees them. You can publish there without worrying that it will be criticized, and then you can post the link for me and I will take a look! -- Cloud atlas (talk) 05:20, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

'Hi Cloud atlas, I published the draft of Acoustic Planet in my sandbox and put your user name at the top. I didn't copy and paste this time. Hi Cheryl Fullerton — thanks for your message. I see the draft in your sandbox now. I'm traveling for the holidays, so I won't be able to take a close look until the beginning of January. Glenstone

edit

So I saw who had created the page after I had edited it when I went to check if this could be a UPE (which you identity obviously meant it wasn't). As I discussed in a reply to something you posted with your WMF account I'll be away soon but if you want to discuss, happy to do so, just ping me. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 02:56, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reviewing the article, Barkeep49. It's only the fourth article I've created, and I'm still learning, so I appreciate the correction. I see now some better ways to convey the information that you removed. Instead of saying the museum is prestigious, I should just give facts about how it ranks in terms of visitors or size of collection -- or give a quote from a notable critic to that effect. And the same goes for the museum being set in nature. Regarding the "Collection" section that you removed, I see now that it was an excessive list. Would it be better if I named a handful of the most notable artists, to give a sense of what the museum contains, as opposed to the full list? I was somewhat modeling my article on this one for a similar museum. Thanks again! -- Cloud atlas (talk) 04:26, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
New article creation is always surprisingly tricky. Your analysis pretty closely tracks my thinking. Giving a few notable works is definitely going to be a better approach than the longer list. Without having read the Broad, I would suggest that it will have more notable works and so such a list would look different for the two museums. Let me know if you have any other questions or if I can be of any further help. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 01:39, 6 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

El mal querer

edit

Hi. Please don't recapitalise the title on El mal querer. It is correct Spanish capitalisation how it is and we should be consistent with the capitalisation in the article title. If you wish to have the article retitled to El Mal Querer, please start a move discussion. Thank you. Ss112 06:02, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Ss112: I was confused because I saw the title of this particular album upper-cased in many places, including in Rolling Stone and on the album's own website. I didn't know about the convention for Spanish-language. Thanks for the correction. -- Cloud atlas (talk) 06:55, 18 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

National varieties of English

edit

Hello. In a recent edit to the page Nick Mason, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk.

Wendell Phillips (archeologist) article

edit

Hi, Cloud atlas, I see you started an article about the archeologist Wendell Phillips. I'm interested in the subject and would be willing to expand the article. However, I don't want to do anything redundant with what you are planning to do, and I don't want to "step on your toes". Do you have further plans for this article? Should I take it on (which I likely would do slowly, over the course of weeks to months). Thank you,

Nolabob (talk) 01:53, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Nolabob -- thanks so much for getting in touch about this! It's been in the back of my mind to revisit the stub of Wendell Phillips, but I haven't been able to get to it. I would be delighted if you were able to expand it; you won't be stepping on my toes at all. There is a lot more information in the Smithsonian article that is already cited, and I see from some googling that there are a few other online sources. I'm also wondering if it's possible to get a photo from the American Foundation for the Study of Man, which Phillips founded and is the source for the photos used in the Smithsonian article. Please stay in touch, and let me know if you want more eyes or input! -- Cloud atlas (talk) 19:41, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Cloud atlas, following our discussion, I've started to expand the Phillips article. Please be patient with me, since I intend to go about this slowly, over the course of a month or two. I'll ask for your critical review at that point. Incidentally, I've not been able to find an email address (or even a physical address) for the American Foundation for the Study of Man. Any ideas on that? Thanks again. Nolabob (talk) 11:45, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Nolabob: -- I'm glad you're working on the article! I just did some searching, and I couldn't find very good contact info for American Foundation for the Study of Man. The best I saw is a PO Box on this site. Maybe another approach is to contact Smithsonian Magazine or the author of the article? Do you think that could work? -- Cloud atlas (talk) 23:10, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Cloud atlas: -- I've significantly expanded the Wendell Phillips article, and I think it would benefit from a second set of eyes critically reviewing it. Please have a look. I'm particularly concerned that what I wrote reads in a choppy way. So you might especially pay attention to the smoothness of the writing. Meanwhile, I'll try writing the AFSM at the PO Box you gave above for a photograph. Thank you. Nolabob (talk) 11:04, 5 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Nolabob: wow, amazing work expanding the article! I think it's great that you dug up some of those journal articles, which give some valuable detail. I went through and made lots of copyedits that I hope make it read better, as well as created a "Writings" section. There are two things that I think would make a big difference, that I hope you can take a crack at:
  • I think the "Archaeology career" section could be organized better, perhaps into three separate subsections: African expedition, First Yemen expedition, Other expeditions. I'm also a little confused about the first Yemen expedition. It looks like Smithsonian says the expedition began in 1950, but I'm also seeing it as 1951, and 1951-1952. Also, you wrote that the expedition was organized to explore Timna, but also that it "focused on Marib". I think it would be good if you re-organized that part of the text to make it clear what was included in the expedition, and in what order.
  • I remember in the Smithsonian article that the thing that set Phillips apart from other archaeologists was his style, in that he was less of scholar and more of a publicist. Since that characterizes his adventures so much, I wonder if it's possible to bring that more to the forefront of the article, either as a short second paragraph in the lead, as an early paragraph in the "archaeology career" section, or as the first paragraph in the "Legacy" section. What do you think?
Also, I emailed the author of the Smithsonian article, to ask if she has advice on how to contact the AFSM or how to otherwise acquire freely licensed photos. I'll let you know what I hear.
-- Cloud atlas (talk) 00:43, 6 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Cloud atlas: -- Thank you for your critical and useful suggestions on the Wendell Phillips article. I've addressed these as best I can. Please have a look. Fingers crossed that one of us can come up with a photograph of Phillips for the article. Nolabob (talk) 21:10, 7 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Nolabob: I'm sorry it took a while, but I finally got to taking another look. I think it's in better shape now and makes good sense! Thanks for working with me on this, and let's keep trying to get an image! Any luck on your end? Is there anything else you're planning to do with the article? Or any upcoming projects for which you're looking for collaborators? -- Cloud atlas (talk) 18:05, 27 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Cloud atlas: -- Thanks for the edits on the Wendell Phillips article. It reads much better now. I've had no luck obtaining a photograph of Phillips. I wrote to his sister's organization but did not receive a response. Let me know if you have further ideas. I'm not planning to do anything further with the Phillips article. No ideas on possible collaborations, but if you have ideas, let me know. Nolabob (talk) 00:08, 29 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Use of forward slash

edit

Cloud atlas

Hi Cloud atlas, I hope you and yours are staying healthy during these very strange times. I have a question for you that I wasn't able to find an answer to by looking around on Wikipedia. This is in reference to the Jefferson Starship article on which I've made some edits.

On the album "Blows Against the Empire" Paul Kantner's solo album it says this:

"Paul Kantner's debut solo album actually was credited to "Paul Kantner/Jefferson Starship," the first use of the "Starship" billing, predating the formation of the group with that name by four years. Kantner used it, extrapolating on the name of his current band, Jefferson Airplane, to refer to Blows's science fiction concept: A bunch of left-wing hippies closely resembling his San Francisco...."

I have tried to get AbleGus to agree to use the credit "Paul Kantner/Jefferson Starship" reference from the article in All Music https://www.allmusic.com/album/blows-against-the-empire-mw0000024441 to no avail. It is also referenced this way in Jeff Tamarkin's book, "Got a Revolution." I think using an "&" ampersand or "and" sends the wrong message to readers, leading them to think that this is an album by Jefferson Starship when it clearly is not. So, I guess I'm asking if there is some style reason for not using the forward slash as it appears in several current articles and the Tamarkin book, or what is the reason for an argument to not use the slash? Does this make sense?

I always appreciate your clear thinking on these matters. Any advice would be helpful. Regards, Cheryl Fullerton (talk) 23:25, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Cheryl FullertonReply

Hello, Cloud atlas I don't know if this is the best way to contact you. Am I following correct procedure on this? Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

edit

Hi Cloud atlas, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

How do I add images to my post --Nevery12 (talk) 12:44, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Nevery12 -- welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for asking the question! It seems like you may be writing an article about yourself. Is that right? Before we talk about how to add an image, I think we should talk about sources for your article. One of the most important things about Wikipedia is that all its content is backed up by sources, like books or news articles. Do you have any about the thing you're writing about? You can send me the links I can take a look.
Writing a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, and I actually recommend building up some skills by editing other articles that already exist. A good way to do that is to visit your homepage and choose some suggested articles -- you could select "Music" as your topic. Then you can make some simple corrections or add links to the articles by following the instructions.
To reply back to me, you can click "edit source" and then type your reply below mine, and then Publish. I hope to hear back from you! -- Cloud atlas (talk) 05:18, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Question from Big Ayeh (18:06, 9 April 2022)

What is Wikipedia's notability meant for? --Big Ayeh (talk) 18:06, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Big Ayeh -- thanks for getting in touch and asking your question. I can see from your userpage that you've been editing for a while. Thank you for your work! I looked at your talk page and I see that you've been working on articles about Kumi Guitar and Paa Kwasi, but that they have been rejected a few times from the Articles for Creation process. I know that's frustrating, and that Wikipedia's policies are difficult to understand. Maybe I can help.
Wikipedia has the policy of "notability", which means that it only allows articles about things that are important or famous. To prove that something is important or famous enough to have an article, articles need to have references from sources that the editors consider to be important or famous. In the articles you've written, the other editors don't think that Kumi Guitar or Paa Kwasi are very important or famous, based on the sources you included. I know this is frustrating, because in your country these musicians may be very famous.
Does Ghana have music charts? Like the Billboard Hot 100? If we can show that Kumi Guitar and Paa Kwasi were on those charts, then we could show notability. I also found this source, which I think is relatively strong: https://www.ghanabusinessnews.com/2021/04/07/i-will-never-depart-from-highlife-kumi-guitar/ Cloud atlas (talk) 02:35, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thank you for helping, but I don't think they are being fair to me because the sources/references that I provide is from the nation's authentic news portals so if it is not relevant how come they will published it?. Big Ayeh (talk) 07:33, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Big Ayeh -- I looked at GhanaWeb, and I found out from Alexa that it is one of the most popular websites in Ghana, so I understand what you mean. I asked another Wikipedia editor from Ghana for some advice, and I'll get back to you tomorrow to let you know what they say (if they get back to me). Then we'll figure out what to do next -- I want to help you publish articles, so thank you for being patient! Cloud atlas (talk) 04:11, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Big Ayeh -- I heard back from the other person I asked for advice, and he agrees that GhanaWeb is a good source. In the next couple days, I think I can spend some time improving the draft you started, and I'll explain what changes I made. Another good idea is we could talk on a video call if you like, and I can explain how to improve the draft. I want to create my bio on wikipedia --Ssengendo Joel Martin (talk) 22:22, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Ssengendo Joel Martin, and welcome to Wikipedia! I see you've made a couple of edits already about neighborhoods in Uganda -- thank you! Those two edits were reverted by another user, unfortunately. I can explain how to improve those if you are interested.
But about your question: a lot of people want to make a bio for themselves on Wikipedia, but there is a rule on Wikipedia called "notability". That rule means that Wikipedia only allows articles about things that are important or famous. The way to prove that something is important or famous is by including sources, like from newspapers, that show the thing is important or famous. Are there newspaper articles or books, or other sources about you? If so, we can talk about how to create an article about you. Cloud atlas (talk) 02:42, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Kopaleishvili1991 -- welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for getting in touch. I think it's a great idea to bring information about your grandfather from Georgian Wikipedia to English Wikipedia. Here's what I think you should do:
  1. It's easiest to write a new article from a laptop or desktop computer, instead of from your phone. Are you able to get to a laptop or desktop? If not, I can explain how to use your phone.
  2. Go to this link, which is your "Sandbox", a place that you can make a draft of a new article.
  3. Start by translating the article from Georgian Wikipedia into English by typing it onto that page.
Let me know when you've done those steps. Then I can help you with the more difficult parts of the article, like adding the references at the end. Also, I will help you show that you are the grandchild of the person in the article, so that people know it was written by someone who knows him.
Could you give me the link of the article in Georgian Wikipedia? Cloud atlas (talk) 18:18, 18 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Kopaleishvili1991 -- I know that writing in Wikipedia is difficult when you're new to it. That link I gave you should work best from a laptop/desktop. But you can also start writing in a Google Doc, and then you can share the Google Doc with me and I can put what you write on Wikipedia. Do you know how to start a Google Doc?
One of the most important things on English Wikipedia is that articles have good sources, which means that the subject of the article (your grandfather) is discussed in books or newspapers or magazines -- showing that he was important. We're going to want to get as many of those as we can so that your article is accepted into English Wikipedia. Do you have sources like those, or are there already good sources in the Georgian article? It looks to me like there are a lot of links to things your grandfather has written himself, but not to things that other people have written about him. @Kopaleishvili1991 -- I know it seems difficult. That's what happens for many new people. Working in the link I sent will be fine as long as you "Publish" your work, which is the way to save it.
I think it is good idea to be in touch by email! You can send me a message here, and then this will allow us to continue in email: Special:EmailUser/Cloud atlas
If you like, we could find a time to have a video meeting to figure things out. I won't be able to talk for the rest of the day today, but we can be back in touch tomorrow. Let me know! Cloud atlas (talk) 19:38, 18 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi i want to add article for Emirati Businessman is that possible? --RajaArslanAbid (talk) 12:19, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @RajaArslanAbid -- welcome to Wikipedia! Yes, it's possible for you to add a new article, but it's important to know that adding a new article requires a lot of skills. I recommend getting started with doing some easy edits to existing articles, which will help you learn some of the skills you need for the new article. You can go to this page to start with some "suggested edits": Special:Homepage. Are you able to try some of those edits?
Also, can you tell me who the businessman is that you want to create an article about? Cloud atlas (talk) 15:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Question from Shrinkhla Shrivastava (03:34, 20 April 2022)

edit

hey, I started few days ago and I want to write about writers from India. But I don't know from where to start and where should I post it. Can you provide some assistance on that? --Shrinkhla Shrivastava (talk) 03:34, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Shrinkhla Shrivastava -- welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you want to write about writers from India -- that's a topic where Wikipedia definitely needs help. Do you already know which writers you're interested in? Do they already have articles written about them that you want to improve? Or do they need to have new articles created? Here is an easy way to find some articles about Indian writers: Category:Indian writers by genre
One thing I recommend is to start with some easy edits by going to your homepage at this link: Homepage. You can then choose topics you're interested in, like "Literature" or "Asia", and try to edit some of the articles that come up.
Let me know how it goes! Cloud atlas (talk) 20:23, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Actually I'm interested in one of the writer. Since most of the writer work were so talented but their work wasn't published in a large scale, that's why I decided to write about those lost writers of India. And no, they don't have articles about them, their online presence is very less and I'm trying my best to research them properly and find any evidence of their work. I will try to do some edits first . Thank you!! I'm under your care. Shrinkhla Shrivastava (talk) 16:44, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Shrinkhla Shrivastava -- I see the edit you did on Changwon National University. That looks like an improvement -- good job! I think you should keep doing some edits like those to build up your skills. Who is the writer you are interested in? What language did they write in? Maybe I can help look for some good sources on them or connect you with someone who has knowledge about them. Cloud atlas (talk) 16:48, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
The writer's name is Shri Narendra Shastri( from Ballia, U.P, India). His stories are in Hindi and Bhojpuri languages. He died early age but he helped many authors and work in many sectors as a publisher, presenter on radio, writer, teacher etc. Shrinkhla Shrivastava (talk) 08:25, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
there is not enough data about him but I found some minor details on google books and writer Viveki rai mentioned his novel "Ussar ka Phool" in his book and I saw this novel referenced in one of the university books as well. my question is, are these enough notable references for Wikipedia? Question from Rydog42 on First strike (nuclear strategy) (01:23, 27 April 2022)

edit

Hello, What are some thoughts or comments on Tom Clancy's Novel The Hunt For Red October? Would it be a good cite? Thanks, Ryan --Rydog42 (talk) 01:23, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Rydog42 -- welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for the question! Are you wanting to make edits to the "First strike" article? What additions do you want to make? In terms of citing sources, a novel is not a good source because it's fictional. We tend to cite sources that are non-fictional, like news articles, books, or documentaries. If the "The Hunt For Red October" discusses first strikes, perhaps we could mention it in the article as a time that first strikes were brought up in popular culture (sort of like this section in the "Top" article). What do you think? Cloud atlas (talk) 00:22, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I would like to help out with people's questions on Wikipedia but every time I add or edit a page it is deleted the next minute. Do you have any suggestions? --GooseGeeseMooseMeeseShoopSheep (talk) 13:16, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Goose made a contribution to one article that was a personal observation, reverted, and in another changed Canadian English spelling to American, also reverted. Goose has asked why reverted at Teahouse and answered there. David notMD (talk) 13:51, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello @GooseGeeseMooseMeeseShoopSheep -- welcome to Wikipedia! I know there are a lot of rules on Wikipedia that can be difficult to learn. As your mentor, I want to help you learn to contribute. Maybe we could pick one article to work on together. Is there an article you want to improve? If so, I could take a look and make some suggestions.
If you don't have a specific article in mind, here's one about baseball that needs help: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kimiyasu_Kudō&gesuggestededit=1
In particular, the first sentence at the end of the first paragraph could be changed to read more neutrally. Right now, it says, "However, despite all his accolades, he is infamously known for having never won the Eiji Sawamura Award, given to Japan's top pitcher." But the part that says "despite all his accolades" and the part that says "infamously" both sound like opinions (and Wikipedia is not allowed to contain opinions, just facts). I think the sentence could be better as, "However, he has never won the Eiji Sawamura Award, given to Japan's top pitcher." Want to make that change? Cloud atlas (talk) 05:28, 23 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the feedback! I actually have a article in mind. It is the softball article and I think there are many things we could find to correct or add to. That includes on the paragraph about ties it says a way I am sure is true but different way. In my experience we put a runner on second base to speed up the game until the tie was broken. I have tried to add it before but it says I can't use facts from me it has to be from the internet. Maybe we could find some reliable web pages as proof. I also believe there are many more things we could add to it so people trying to learn softball can have an easier experience. Thank you. Question from MEGANTHESTALLION1999 (08:39, 22 June 2022)

Hello! Is there anyway I can possibly even create a new Wikipedia page or even possibly, even completely ;), wipe out a page with alot of false information???

Unfortunately I was unable to edit a full page with ALOT of false information about my best friend Scott Morrison! And guess what! I got called up for it!!!

Heart wrenching, gut draining, soul sucking! Yes I am poet. Search me up Jackie Lambe, but I go as the name Megan The Stallion for privacy :)))))

Anyways I hope you can help me and we can become friends! OR ELSE

Bye bye Cloud Atlas, love ya 😘😊💋😁 --MEGANTHESTALLION1999 (talk) 08:39, 22 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @MEGANTHESTALLION1999 -- welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for trying to edit. I know that it can be hard. I looked through some of the edits you made, and it looks like you were putting your opinions about Scott Morrison onto the "Eastern states of Australia" page. Is that right? There are a few things to know that might help. Wikipedia articles usually can't contain opinions -- they're supposed to only include information. So even if people are really enthusiastic about their country or a certain politician, the article can't say things like "My country is the best", because that's an opinion. I also saw that you were writing about things on pages that aren't about them -- like writing about Scott Morrison on the "Eastern states of Australia" page instead of the "Scott Morrison" page. Did you encounter that challenge?
Let me know some more information about what you're trying to do, and maybe I can help. Cloud atlas (talk) 12:41, 22 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh my! It didn't let me edit the Scott Morrison page? I looked in the settings and it said I had to edit 10 ties and the account has to be 4 days old? Is this true? I made my account today so I understand. I'll try again and if I have trouble is it ok if I communicate with you? Thank you so much for your help :))))))) MEGANTHESTALLION1999 (talk) 14:19, 22 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Shrinkhla Shrivastava -- I see you are working on an article about Narendra Shastri. Thank you for looking hard for sources, but unfortunately the sources you listed aren't permissible on Wikipedia. Though these sources do indicate that Shastri's works exist, they do not show that Shastri is a notable author. I know this can be confusing or frustrating. Here is my recommendation: can you find sources in Hindi or Bhojpuri that talk about Shastri or his books? Perhaps a news article from when he died, or a review of his books? Here is the kind of article I'm talking about for a different author (Claudia Rankine): https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/theatre-dance/features/claudia-rankine-interview-the-white-card-b2107866.html
Can you find anything like that, even if it's not in English? Cloud atlas (talk) 18:45, 2 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hey, So what let me explain the links i gave you, one of link is evidence that he used to be editor and publisher of a magazine called "ras sulab" the link: https://www.google.co.in/books/edition/Host_Bibliographic_Record_for_Boundwith/wO-TuEKxC_gC?hl=en&gbpv=0} Then their was writer, Viveki Rai(he is notable author and have is presence on Wikipedia Hindi) who wrote about Bhojpuri novels and story writers, and he mentioned Narendra Shastri and his novel "Usar ka Phool" the link are: https://bhojpurisahityangan.com/wp-content/uploads/flipbook/830/book.html#p=22 ( the jogira site is from where i learned about Viveki 's book) And it is also mentioned in one of the university book, the link is https://egyankosh.ac.in/handle/123456789/39443?mode=full}

And recently Narendra Shastri's book was published by his daughter and some known author also wrote about him. I also collected his picture and his book from her daughter, the one which is written about a freedom fighter. And also found his writings in other known authors book.

Can you recheck these all and tell me that if they can be used for reference and citation. Thank you so much for helping me out!! Also can I make translate Hindi wikipedia of Indian authors into English? Shrinkhla Shrivastava (talk) 08:28, 3 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

And his stories was published in some magazines but I'm unable to properly find the exact edition on internet, popular magazines like "Dharamyug" , "Raviwar" (magazine from Kolkata), "Prabhat khabar" ( From Bihar). They used to be published in that time and was famous. Shrinkhla Shrivastava (talk) 08:36, 3 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Chicago Meetup for Wikidata Day

edit

Hello! This is User:Luiysia (IRL name is Kelly). My main interests are fashion, music, literature, and history. I am fairly new to Wikipedia editing and I found that there has been very little activity from the Chicago Wikipedia user group since 2020.

I'd like to host a casual meetup in Chicago to celebrate Wikidata Day on Saturday, October 26.

Proposed location is Engine Coffee in the Wicker Park/West Town area, at 11AM.

Here is the official meetup page, where you can add yourself as an attendee.

(If you would prefer not to see messages like this, go ahead and take yourself off this list.)

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 19 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Add a Fact survey and thank you

edit

Thank you for testing out the Add A Fact browser extension! This extension was developed as an experiment by the Future Audiences team at the Wikimedia Foundation to learn about new ways of contributing to Wikipedia from outside of our website/apps.

We are planning to wrap up this experiment this December, sunsetting the extension and publishing our findings on-wiki. We’d like to invite you to take part in an exit survey to tell us more about your experience of trying out the extension, and to share any ideas you have about how to support new ways of contributing to Wikipedia. The survey is anonymous (see the survey privacy statement) and should take about 10–15 minutes to complete.

You can take the Goole Forms survey here.

Kind regards, MPinchuk (WMF)

Chicago Meetup for December 14

edit

Hello! This is User:Luiysia again. At the last meetup, people expressed interest in having a Wikipedia meetup bi-monthly (that is, every other month). So, here's our December meetup!

The meetup will start at The Bourgeois Pig, in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, at 11 AM.

Here is the official meetup page, where you can add yourself as an attendee. See you soon!

(If you would prefer not to see messages for Chicago meetups, go ahead and take yourself off this list.)
