Undisclosed Paid Editing
editHello Brain7days. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Tolu' A Akinyemi, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Brain7days. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Brain7days|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Celestina007 (talk) 20:39, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
COI Tag lacks evidence
edit@celestina007 your accusations are clearly sentimental, appalling, and violate Section 4 of the Wikimedia Terms of Use and against wikietiquette. I would advice you take down your Conflict of Interest(COI) tag except otherwise you have an evidence for such allegation. That i debate the credibility of this article does not permit such accusations. You also failed to consider Section #1 sub section #2 of wikipedia: Nomination Processes by first claiming that the subject of article lacks reliable sources and later move to question the nobility of the subject. I will also like to refute your claims that the article lacks reliable sources according to "our guidelines" as you claimed, which is against Section #3 Sub section 1(d) of the WP: AFD Being a writer that you are you are clearly arguing personalty and not fact as oppose WP:APR

editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at Olatunde Brain. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Barry Jhay
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Barry Jhay, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Praxidicae (talk) 13:49, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi
editHi Brain7days,
Now that I have agreed to adopt you, I'd like you to answer a few questions. Please be sincere in your response. You are the first person I am adopting and I do not like working with dishonest people.
- Are you new to Wikipedia? Have you edited Wikipedia prior to creating this account on September 10, 2018?
- Do you create articles or contribute to Wikipedia in exchange for money?
- Are you Olatunde Brain in real life?
Please be sincere in your response. I'm confident that your answer to question 3 is a resounding yes. For your info, writing about yourself or people you have an external relationship with is not allowed per WP:COI. Versace1608 Wanna Talk? 14:02, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

- Being a writer and having editorial/ background it is natural for me to research anything at any time and every day and wiki is the first place I run to, so most times when i read articles on the wiki and I spot typos I tend to unconsciously correct them until I find that I could actually be an editor and make corrections where necessary, hence being a part of the typo team became consequential.
- I'm here to contribute and also build a portfolio for myself in the editing realm and if I can actually be paid to create/edit then it's an opportunity I look forward to embracing.

- You should have indented everything, even the bulleted sentences. No worries, I did that already. What exactly do you mean by "build a portfolio for yourself"? You created an autobiography about yourself while being completely oblivious to our WP:COI policy. Now that you are aware of this policy, you need to adhere to it. You are not going to get paid to create and edit articles; Wikipedia is not that platform. You need to remember that we are volunteers who are not employed by the Wikimedia Foundation. Editing Wikipedia should be a hobby and not a job. I cannot associate myself with anyone who believes they should be getting paid for editing Wikipedia. I'm glad you believe that editing Wikipedia will sharpened your writing; this is actually true. I want you to work on articles in your sandbox before moving them to draftspace. I'd like to review your work and give you pointers. I don't want you to waste time working on an article that can get deleted. Come up with a list of articles you want to create. You can put this list on your userpage. I am going to Google each title and tell you if the subject of the article meets our notability guidelines. I'd like you to adhere to the following:
- Do not share your Wikipedia account with anyone.
- Do not allow anyone edit your account on your behalf
- Do not create a secondary account if you ever get block from editing Wikipedia; please read Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. Versace1608 Wanna Talk? 18:51, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

- As you and other veterans have done here, that's my meaning by "building a portfolio". It is not in my believe that i will get paid to create/edit, i am even surprised that a WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE exist here. I regret creating an autobiography, it was meant to be in a draft but it was a negligence on my part. Some of the articles i'm currently working on and plan to work on are:
- Draft:Moyosore Onigbanjo
- Tolu' A Akinyemi
- Tunde Ednut
- Temi Otedola
- List of Nigerian Cartoonist
- Ogun Okuta(stone war in Akure)
- Please how do i appear anonymous or prevent the encroachment of my account? --Olatunde Brain (talk) 20:16, 23 May 2020 (UTC)--
- You should not believe that you will get paid. No genuine editor, who values integrity, gets paid for editing Wikipedia. You cannot be surprised that we have a WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE policy. There are people out there who edit Wikipedia for money and solicit companies and individuals for money. They take advantage of people who are unaware that they do not need to pay for a Wikipedia article. Accepting money from people to create an article doesn't mean the article is going to be kept in mainspace. The Moyosore Onigbanjo draft has already been moved to mainspace. Tolu Akninyemi isn't notable so do not waste time creating an article about him. You should create the three sandbox pages below and work on the articles you have on your list. Let me know when you're done. I will review each sandbox page and will let you know if your work is good enough to be moved to mainspace.
- User:Brain7days/sandbox –> Use this page for the Tunde Ednut article
- User:Brain7days/sandbox2 –> Use this page for the Temi Otedola article
- User:Brain7days/sandbox3 –> Use this page for the List of Nigerian Cartoonist article
- Work on these three articles for now and once you're done with them, you can start working on the Ogun Okuta article. I am going to monitor these pages. Let me know when you're done and I will review each of them. The only way to appear anonymous is to edit using an IP address. You already have an account so you should only be using this account to make edits. Please read Wikipedia:Why create an account?. Wikipedia does not encourage editors to use their real name because doing so can put you at risk of harassment. Since Brain7days is somewhat associated with your real name, you can request for a name change. Please read our WP:USERNAME policy before you submit a name request at Global user account rename request. Make sure the username you come up with is not already taken. You can use the Global account information page to check to see if a username you are interested in using is not already taken. Alternatively, you can also request a name change at WP:CHU/SIMPLE. Might I suggest you redact your statement here or substantiate it with diffs? Accusing people of COI and bad faith is a personal attack, especially when you do not provide evidence. Praxidicae (talk) 13:19, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
I have been accused of COI, Canvassing and now Aspersion. All because I refused to be intimidated or pledge allegiance, is this all in good faith? We are all volunteers here, there are over 30million editors, over 6 million articles you can not do all the job, I am not here to pick fight with anyone but worth doing at all is what doing well.I won't continue to jostle with you or anyone, I'll just let you do whatever pleases you but remember you are not here forever. - @Brain7days, I don’t think anyone has intimidated you thus far & from your edit history it appears the community has significantly supported you thus far. However what Praxidicae is saying is you can’t keep on casting aspersions without providing diffs to substantiate your claims as that constitutes a personal attack. If you continue with the personal attacks via casting aspersions you may have to be reported to the admin notice board & eventually blocked as this is a trait of an editor not here to build an encyclopedia. Consider this a friendly warning. Celestina007 (talk) 19:43, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

- @Brain7days, I’d ignore the sarcasm & actually try to help with the draft by giving my input. It would have been a lot easier if M-Mustapha, had commented on why he declined the draft, but I presume it’s because the article doesn’t per se discuss how the subject of the article is notable or why it’s deserving of a stand alone. As a relatively new editor you may want to avoid creating articles on businessmen or philanthropists as they are very tricky & proving their notability may be a very daunting task even for experienced editors. RE: Kiriji War
editHello! I'm happy you contacted me and thank you for the edit to my page and for the advice. Regarding ogun okuta, I have not heard of it but since it happened in Akure, I would be happy to work with you on this article, just create a draft for Stone War or Ogun Okuta. Have a great day and I look forward to working with you. Oniwe (talk) 00:56, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Oniwe
DYK for Tolulope Arotile
editOn 11 August 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tolulope Arotile, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Tolulope Oluwatoyin Sarah Arotile, the first female combat helicopter pilot in the Nigerian Army, died in a freak car accident? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Tolulope Arotile), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Ogun Okuta moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Ogun Okuta, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Nathan2055talk - contribs 18:21, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Brain7days, objectively speaking I thought this was a fairly decent encyclopedic article. I was going to add more sources then mark as reviewed before it was moved to draft by Nathan. Which wasn’t a bad move per se as the article truly didn’t have enough sources to remain on mainspace. Although two sources for a non BLP article isn’t horribly wrong. In any case, If you can do add more sources then ping me to review it. Celestina007 (talk) 22:33, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
A belated welcome!

Your submission at Articles for creation: 2nd Niger Bridge (September 28)
edit- Draft:2nd Niger Bridge may be deleted at any time unless the copied text is removed. Copyrighted work cannot be allowed to remain on Wikipedia.
- If you need any assistance, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk or on the reviewer's talk page. or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Ogun Okuta
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Ogun Okuta requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://news247alert.com/the-ogun-okuta-of-1931/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Thank you for creating the page on Oye Owolewa. It looks great and really adds detail to the DC Shadow Senators on here. I just wanted to let you know I reached out to him yesterday about possibly releasing one of his images for use on Wikipedia. Baconheimian (talk) 17:18, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

We hereby want to officially welcome new volunteers who have recently joined the collaborative project and have volunteered to work in WP:NIGERIA. The arrival of new volunteers is often associated with the confusion of “what to do” on their part, it is then behoove of us to treat them with care, guide them, and protect them from the general pitfalls a new editor would most usually fall into. We are also admonished to clean up after them if they err and encourage them, most especially when they are genuine editors with potential to do good work not just for us, but for the community as a whole.
