OTRS
editWhy have you removed my edits? There was nothing wrong with them? Of course it's not confirmed, it's pending. That's the whole point.
Also why have you completely removed the photo of Nadifa Mohamed from here page? I emailed the photographer, and she gave me persmission under a specific free licence and I forwarded this email to Wikipedia.
In the case of Rageh Omaar. I did exactly the same thing and recieved an email back from wikiedeia. This is what it read...
Thank you for your email. Our response follows your message.
I have made the necessary modifications to the file page.
Thank you for your contribution to the Wikimedia Commons.
Yours sincerely, Scott Cameron
As you can see, Scott Cameron is the person/volunteer from wikipedia. Now I have no idea why he hasn't confirmed it on Rage Omaar's page.
If you still don't believe me, I'm more than happy to post a screenshot of the email.
In the British Somalis section, I also uploaded a photo of Rageh Omaar and Nadifa Mohamed and you removed it . Why did you remove them? The permission will be verified in due course. Unless you can give me the details of a specific user who will verify it quicker? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bazancourt (talk • contribs) 19:09, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Bazancourt. I removed those links because all of the similar images that you have in the past uploaded were copyrighted. That includes the previous Omaar file you tagged as OTRS pending and which expired. That's why I stated in my edit summaries that the files were "unconfirmed OTRS". Confirmed OTRS files, on the other hand, are obviously not an issue (which, incidentally, I later found out the Omaar one apparently is now, so I reverted myself; the other file is still OTRS pending though). Yep, I remember uploading that picture of Rage Omaar. Back then I was a new user and I assumed all I needed was a permission from the photographer and simply uploaded it.
However I now know that I need to ask them permission under a specific free licence and there's 3 that Wikipedia allow. Which are these three...
1) Creative Commons attribution-share Alike 3.0 Licence
2) Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Licence
3) GNU Free Documentation License
In Rageh Omaar's case, the photographer I emailed gave me permission to upload it under the second licence. While the photographer who took the picture of Nadifa Mohamed gave me permission under the first licence.
I only recieved permission for Nadifa Mohammed's picture only yesterday, hence why I uploaded. I emailed both photographers and both got back to at different times, which is why I was careful to wait for their response before uploading it.
- I see. Thanks for clarifying, Middayexpress (talk) 19:52, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
