Your RfA
editI know you had good intentions, but I just wanted to inform you that people who usually submit RfA's have been here much longer than 2 days. I suggest you withdraw this RfA as soon as possible, as there is no chance for success. You may keep it a while longer if you would like to hear comments from other users, though. Thanks, and happy editing! =) Nishkid64 21:03, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Hello! I am sorry to say that I have closed your RfA early as there is no chance that you will achieve consensus with two days' worth of contributions. Take a look at Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia for ideas about effective contributions. If you are serious about being an effective editor then you can visit WP:ADOPT and ask for a more experienced editor to assist you in learning about Wikipedia. You can then edit with guidance build your reputation before trying for another RfA in six or eight months' time. Regards, (aeropagitica) 21:48, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- You need to read the intro material very carefully - no one gets adminship on wikipedia without having spent considerable time and effort in a whole range of areas of wikipedia! SatuSuro 03:28, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- No offence but the original idea of an administrator on wikipedia was that any user that is in good standing and is a regular contributor would have admin status. But It guesses that times change. --AresAndEnyo 03:33, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think "good standing" and "regular" need some time to establish - it's human nature not to trust what/who one does not know. One suggestion - there's plenty of areas that administrators need help with, and doing them for a period generally gets your name known to a larger audience as a force for good so that when you finally do go for RfA, people remember you and vote for you. There seems to be a set population that vote against anybody on spurious grounds but if you have plenty of well-regarded supporters this is pretty much never a problem. (I have no objection to the word, just its *use* on here) Boston's a nice place, if I ever do get to the USA it's one of the key places I want to visit - I spent a couple of months in Canada back in 2004. All sounds good - look forward to helping you with any queries you may have about Wikipedia and the community here. Orderinchaos78 04:13, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

editThis seems to be the only way to contact people on wikipedia. It seems intrusive, and I am still learning my way around editing wikipedia, but I did want to thank you for your strong vote on the AfD issue. - Don't mention it, maybe one day you will be in a position to help me. It is a good article and such, just don't this admin crap curb your enthusiasm. I know from first hand experience the admins are more often than not axe happy on here and try to destroy everyones enjoyment.--AresAndEnyo (talk) 16:48, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- That's saddening to hear, about the admins. I hunted down Coren on IRC last night after he blocked me for some BS claim of "sockpuppetry," so in my very first week I already have learned that the hard way. Gregalton seems to be very influential with the Admins :o( But, anyways, thanks again, and feel free to look me up anytime you need a hand! —Preceding unsigned comment added by BigK HeX (talk • contribs) 16:56, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sjsumo.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Sjsumo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:23, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem :)
editI did one for Sjjetage - If you pretty much copy exactly what I've done on any of the album cover images, it works. Note that if it's used on more than one article, you need to list each article in the heading. The motivations of the people operating the bots are good - basically making sure Wikipedia doesn't get sued - but it'd be nice if they told us how to do what they're asking. Suggested changes in the WMF privacy policy
editHello,
I posted some suggestions for changes in the WMF privacy policy at the WMF site: [1]. The gist of the suggestions is to institute a requirement for notifying those registered users whose identifying info is being sought by subpoenas in third-party lawsuits. These suggestions are motivated in large part by a discussion that took place in January 2008 at the Village Pump (Policy) page [2] in relation to an incident where identifying IP data of sixteen Wikipedia users was released in response to such a subpoena. I also left a note about these proposal at Village Pump, WP:Village_pump_(policy)#Suggestions_for_changes_in_the_WMF_privacy_policy. Since you have participated in the January Village Pump discussion, I hope that you will contribute to the discussion of the current suggestions at the WMF website, [3]. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sjdevilwasinmyyard.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Sjdevilwasinmyyard.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:16, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem
editThanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --09:25, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Your request for adminship
editHello. I have closed your request for adminship early per WP:SNOW, as it is clear that it will not be successful at this point. Do not be disheartened; many of our finest administrators have failed their first RfAs. See WP:GRFA and WP:ARL for places in which you can improve for your next request. Best of luck, PeterSymonds (talk) 19:13, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
