Eliano Reijnders & Mees Hilgers

edit

Hi Anwegmann. Is there any reason why you have to revert edits of both Eliano Reijnders & Mees Hilgers? Yes both are Dutch, but they're no longer because they change citizenship to Indonesia which is fact, and there's source in their wiki as well. The people who change their Nationality did not do wrong as it's to update, and they're not vandalize. Or is it better to say both are Indonesian Dutch. Thank you. Thfeeder (talk) 00:37, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Because they go against long-established WP:FOOTY standards concerning nationality. Neither player has ever played for Indonesia, and both have played for the Netherlands. So until they actually play for Indonesia, the lede must remain as "...is a Dutch professional footballer..." Once they have played for Indonesia, it will become ambiguous: "...is a professional footballer." Anwegmann (talk) 09:52, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Nationality of Zainichi Korean footballers

edit

Hello Anwegmann,

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia, especially your work on formatting and fixing articles to the correct guidelines. I noticed your recent edits to on some Zainichi Koreans footballers page such as Park Il-gyu, Han Ho-gang or Kim Jung-ya where you were referred to as "Japanese" based on their birthplace. While Zainichi Koreans may born and reside in Japan, most do not hold Japanese nationality and are not qualified for it unless one of their parents is Japanese 1; 2. For this reason, I think you should revert your edits back to their Korean nationality.

Best regards, Lâm (talk) 17:14, 20 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not changing the timestamp

edit

Hi, I noticed that you recently reverted a user for meddling with the stats without amending the timestamp. I'm having issues with one user, see User talk:Iphone5Sgold for more details, who does this every weekend en masse. As you can see, they have been warned for several months/years now with zero improvement. At this stage, do you reckon we are allowed to just mass revert? Not sure how else to get through. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:34, 24 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Spiderone: Thanks for making me aware of this. I have added an additional warning, and I have pinged GiantSnowman, who is an administrator whose practices concerning this issue I have largely followed. These types of things are extremely annoying, especially when done in mass quantities like this specific user has continually done. Anwegmann (talk) 17:02, 24 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Many thanks for this. They are at WP:ANI now so hopefully this will encourage the user to make the right choice. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 17:27, 24 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

About the comments you left in the Talk page

edit

Hi Anwegmann, I have question about some things that whou wrote in my talk page. As you wrote that there's guidelines about ambiguous nationalities of footballers, can you tell me the link about the ambiguous nationality guidelines? I've searched WP:FOOTY you told me, but couldn't find the exact one that matches your opinion. It's a genuine question about things that I don't actually know, not challenging your opinion about writing nationality. Thank you. --YellowTurtle9 (talk) 15:31, 30 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Standard notice: Syrian Civil War

edit
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Syrian Civil War and ISIL. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

As a note, per these community-authorized general sanctions, there is a one-revert rule in place for all articles related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, broadly construed. This means that an editor in this area may make no more than one revert per article per 24 hour period, unless an obvious exception applies. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 04:41, 8 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
