Running Man guest list

edit

Using the episode list, I have created a spreadsheet of RM guests. I use this to add the Running Man guest category to individual pages (except for protected and non-English pages).

My list is almost exactly the same as yours, except for episode 18.

Thank you for all you have done to help everyone enjoy Running Man.

NYDirk (talk) 04:23, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

You're very welcome. Glad I could be of help. I'm curious what you have different for episode 18, is it disputing Lizzy as a guest? Aman329 (talk) 23:18, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I was referring to Lizzy. I'm a fan, but I'm not going to go to revert wars over her.

List of Running Man episodes article

edit

Hello. I am very impressed by your works regarding Korean variety shows! You have contributed a lot and created so many articles. However, I feel that Sistar and MBLAQ are only guests on episode 95 and I don't think the guests from episode 95 to 97 should be all lumped together. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Toothswing (talkcontribs) 00:59, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I can see why you divided the different episodes with its corresponding guests. I agree it looks "cleaner". However, if you are going to do that for Park Ji-sung, it should be done with all the other episodes where guests changed on different episodes (Ep 52-53: Yoon So-yi; Ep 65-66: Kim Ju-hyuk, Song Joong-ki; Ep 72-73: IU; Ep 82-83: Oh Ji-ho). The reason I have them all "bunched" together is because the list is actually listed in the "number of races" (which is the first column of numbers; in compliance to the original Korean list) where the races/guests are connected if it is more than one episode. Therefore, at least one guest was the same as the previous episode, and thus it was easier to just add the new guest and make a note of it instead of having awkward cells (if you see what I mean). So instead of creating an unnecessary column that will probably only be used for this series of episodes, instead, I suggest just dividing it in the three episodes and listing Park Ji-sung three times. Aman329 (talk) 03:06, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your swift reply. Let's settle with duplicating Park Ji-sung three times then. I would like to discuss something with you. I have fished out some information of member pairings. Some of them, I do not understand it as it is in Korean. Some others, I am not sure if it can be added in.

Jaesuk and Jongkook - 영원한 숙적, 두 권력자, 런닝맨의 양대 산맥
Jongkook and Sukjin - 유치스타 K, 톰과제리, 최강자 최약자
Jihyo and Jaesuk - 사탕동맹 (Candy Alliance), 만두동맹 (Dumpling Alliance)

Toothswing (talk) 08:23, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Um let's see. I'm assuming you got these from the Korean page. Most of these are just fan-given nicknames/relationships (not recognized on air), and therefore would not be appropriate to list. Here are just rough translations. For Jae-suk and Jong-kook: Eternal Rivals, Two Men of Power, Running Man's Two Heights of Power. For Jong-kook and Suk-jin, Immature Star K (parody of Super Star K), Tom and Jerry, Strongest and Weakest. Hope that helps. Aman329 (talk) 19:40, 28 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thank you very much! You are really good in Korean and is really devoted to Korean variety shows. I am new here so please help me if I do anything wrong. Thanks :D Toothswing (talk) 00:36, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Infobox Korean Film

edit

Hello, I saw your ID on WikiProject as well as your many edits to Korean media pages so I thought you might be interested in a debate at Template Talk on the topic of merging Infobox Korean Film into the generic Infobox Film category, deleting the Hangul/hanja/RR/MR information, or keeping it separate (as it currently is). I would appreciate it if you to contribute your thoughts or at least glance over it. The more people looking/thinking about it will give us better ideas as to what should be decided. Thank you. ₪RicknAsia₪ 08:38, 13 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I'm making an Dutch version of Running Man. but I can't use your photo. How Can I do it??? I'm a fan of Running Man!!!!!

Hi, because it is not a free image, you have to reupload it yourself on the Dutch Wikipedia. Just credit back to me and the English Wikipedia. Hope that helps. Aman329 (talk) 17:06, 10 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yu Jae-suk?

edit

Could you explain why we have the templates with Yu Jae-suk, Gary, Ha-ha, Lee Kwang-su, Yoon Si-yoon which are different from their articles' titles. Sawol (talk) 05:46, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

They are the names used in all Running Man/Barefooted Friends related articles. This is to keep the templates "in sync" with the related articles for consistency. Aman329 (talk) 16:53, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Are related articles you say in the en wikipedia? Anyone can rewrite them. Sawol (talk) 07:09, 29 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes they are in the English Wiki: Running Man (TV series), List of Running Man episodes, List of Running Man missions, Good Sunday, etc. Of course anyone can rewrite them but until someone does so, I feel it's best to leave them consistent with each other. Aman329 (talk) 04:43, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
It is not important to match between one page and the related template. We should find which is the common usage between Yoo Jae-suk and Yu Jae-suk? Then move if necessary. It is important to match the text in the whole pages of the English wikipedia. Sawol (talk) 06:16, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Aman329

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Request to block "222.165.16.68" due to vandalism act

Hi Aman329 is there anyway we can block this user "222.165.16.68" or prevent him vandalizing List of Running Man episodes as you are th created of this page. He/She keeps undoing our information (you and me) which are very updated.

I have warned that user from doing further vandalizing edits. If they continue, I will report them to an administrator who can block them. Luckily, the page has been semi-protected so we'll have to see what happens once the protection is lifted. Thanks for keeping an eye on that, quite a lot seems to have happened since I last checked. removing references

edit

Hi! May I ask you why you removed the references from Running Man? I was trying to find sources to back up the claims in the article and without any explanation you removed these. What is your reason for deleting perfectly fine references that actually back up what is being written in the article? Teemeah 편지 (letter) 15:41, 6 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I undid your changes because you referenced allkpop, which is a highly unreliable source that should not be used as reference. One article you referenced in particular was merely an op-ed, the opinion of some contributor to the site. Please use a more reliable source of information to back up the article. Thanks. Aman329 (talk) 03:38, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Why would allkpop be unreliable in entertainment topics, like writing down what happens in an episode of Running Man? That's utter nonsense. See Talk:K-pop for previous discussions on Allkpop and Soompi. Viki and DramaFever are official streaming sites, they are not pirate streaming illegal places. We put SBS and MBC and Fox and whatever channels where a series is running into the articles, what's the difference with Viki and DramaFever? That they online and not terrestial? :) SBS also has online streaming services. Still the link to their website is in the article. I don't see the logic behind thus discrimination, frankly. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 09:07, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
According to the link you provided on previous discussions on Allkpop, others clearly share my views that Allkpop presents bias and inaccurate information a lot of the time. They appear to be translating Korean news articles but often selectively omit or inject information, which introduces bias. Some articles they publish do contain accurate information, but their credibility as a "gossip blog" does not justify it as a good source. I do not agree that Allkpop is a reliable source of information, and if there is a better source, that should most definitely be used instead. Also, I noticed you are the user that argues Allkpop is a good source on that talk page, don't you think that's a blatant conflict of interest when presenting that discussion as an argument to me? Just because they are the biggest, doesn't mean they are the best. Perhaps if you could compare some of the actual Korean articles they "translate" from, you'd notice the obvious bias. To your argument, the interviews they conduct would most definitely qualify as a primary source of information, but I would question the validity of all other news content they do not acquire on their own. About streaming sites, they are not "official" streaming sites, they merely pay to license the content. It is not discriminating those sites, it makes sense to link to the official source which is the creator of the content as it is available. The official YouTube page is only linked because it is an actual official page, which is acceptable as per Wikipedia's external links policy. To be listing a particular streaming site (DramaFever or Viki), would be discriminating to all other streaming sites that also legally have Running Man in their library. Therefore, instead of listing all sites that allow users to watch the show, only the official source is shown, which would not be biased or discriminating. Wikipedia should not be used as a source to advertise these different sites which generate ad revenue as well as subscriptions from users. Aman329 (talk) 02:14, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikilinking

edit

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

(This even applies for infoboxes.)

Thanks and my best wishes.

Korean language

edit

Hi Aman329,

How did you learn Korean? I want to learn it but it's difficult. They're phrases are difficult to understand, with the topics nouns and such, do you know the structure to build the phrases? In Dutch it's easy as in English, but Korean is an other story.

Sorry for the question, but I wondered.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!
