Thank you for all your excellent edits to all the Fergie (singer)-related articles. Keep it up; your edits are appreciated. :) Acalamari 01:49, 5 April 2007 (UTC) |
- Thank you for your compliment! As for your award, you're welcome; you've done a lot of good edits on Fergie (singer)-related articles, and I felt you deserved a barnstar for it. Acalamari 21:34, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
About TeckWiz's RfA.
In regards over this edit, you may want to know that adminship isn't a reward for good work. Administrators do a lot of tasks that non-admins can't do, so it's not a reward. To become an admin, a user has to have a fair amount of knowledge of policy, good experience overall; plus a large amount of edits (a lot of users say 2500 edits, but personally, I think that more RfA's pass if the user has 5000 edit). What you said about TeckWiz being an outstanding contributor, however, is very true. :)
You, on the other hand, know a lot about Wikipedia already, which I am pleased about, and you said on your user page that you've been a contributor since 2005. You decided to sign up, which I applaud you for. I am glad that you are getting involved in the requests for adminship processes, and I hope to see you there some more often. To learn more about administrators, I do suggest reading Wikipedia: Administrators and Wikipedia: Administrators' how-to guide. My advice for you being an admin is this: wait until you've been with Wikipedia for at least five months, make sure you have at least 5000 edits; and have knowledge of key policies. I know you weren't planning on adminship right now or in the direct future, but I want to at least tell you this information. I'd also advise waiting for someone to nominate you. Despite the fact that nomination is allowed, there are users who dislike self-nominations, and will oppose on that basis.
I'm not "telling you off" for supporting TeckWiz; you are free to give your opinion on an RfA. I'm not trying to discourage you from becoming an admin in the future; I just wanted to give you some friendly advice to help give you a hand. :) Acalamari 21:35, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Of course. :) I was more than happy to give you advice. Acalamari 22:47, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- You didn't have to remove the "administrator someday" userbox from your user page. I saw the userbox, and thought I'd give you advice for when you do get to run for adminship. :) Acalamari 22:48, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
TeckWiz's RFA
Hey A Raider Like Indiana. Thanks for supporting my unsuccessful RFA this week under my old name, TeckWiz. I'm now known simply as User:R. I hope to keep helping and improving Wikipedia alongside you. --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@(Let's go Yankees!) 15:07, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
