Talk:Roller derby

There's some Unicode error in https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Roller_derby&diff=591796996&oldid=591781063 - what can be done to fix that? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 07:42, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

It was a minor issue with the server on which the bot runs, and has been fixed. Σσς(Sigma) 00:51, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2014 January newsletter

The 2014 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with, at time of writing, 138 participants. The is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2010. If you are yet to join the competition, don't worry- the judges have agreed to keep the signups open for a few more days. By a wide margin, our current leader is newcomer   Godot13 (submissions), whose set of 14 featured pictures, the first FPs of the competition, was worth 490 points. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

Featured articles, featured lists, featured topics and featured portals are yet to play a part in the competition. The judges have removed a number of submissions which were deemed ineligible. Typically, we aim to see work on a project, followed by a nomination, followed by promotion, this year. We apologise for any disappointment caused by our strict enforcement this year; we're aiming to keep the competition as fair as possible.

Wikipedians interested in friendly competition may be interested to take part in The Core Contest; unlike the WikiCup, The Core Contest is not about audited content, but, like the WikiCup, it is about article improvement; specifically, The Core Contest is about contribution to some of Wikipedia's most important article. Of course, any work done for The Core Contest, if it leads to a DYK, GA or FA, can earn WikiCup points.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. lcΣB3: did not archive sections with malformed section header

Two sections on Talk:Black Egyptian hypothesis were not archived in this archiving edit even though date qualified. this appears to be due to the section header containing unbalanced "=" signs (or at least that is what the sections have in common). The two sections are: Talk:Black Egyptian hypothesis#=The labyrinth and Talk:Black Egyptian hypothesis#=Translation of Melanchroes. Both have section header lines that begin with three "=" characters and end with two "=" characters. Not sure if this is something you want to fix, but I have realized I have just been fixing minor lcΣB3 archiving issues I've run across instead of reporting them. Makyen (talk) 07:28, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

On Wikipedia talk:Red link in this archive edit the section "Red link dispute resolution" was not archived. The section appeared date qualified. I did not see a reason for it not to be archived along with the other sections which were archived at that time. I have subsequently archived that section. Makyen (talk) 08:18, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

lcΣB3: did not archive multiple sections with 2003 dates

On Talk:Silesian language in this archiving edit, lcΣB3 did not archive multiple sections with dates from 2003. I have subsequently archived all of the threads in that date range on that page. Makyen (talk) 08:40, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Also on Talk:Criticality accident, today, with a thread that has 2004 dates. Makyen (talk) 01:33, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

lcΣB3: archiving corrupted thread with section headers in a table

On Talk:Teleological argument, on January 18, with this archiving edit lcΣB3 corrupted a thread which had section headers in a table. The table was comparing two text versions from the article side by side. I reverted the edit and manually archived the thread. lcΣB3 then properly archived the remaining appropriate threads on the page. I am not sure if this case is something to deal with within the bot. It is clear from the TOC that the parser sees the sections contained in the table as new second level headers. Makyen (talk) 01:44, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

lowercase sigmabot II down

lowercase sigmabot II has not cleaned the sandbox in several hours like it's supposed to. It's probably down. Good thing its comrade Hazard-bot is able to take over, but Hazard-bot can't reinsert the sandbox header when it is removed. K6ka (talk | contribs) 23:36, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Nevermind. It appears to be up now. K6ka (talk | contribs) 01:29, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

lcΣB3: corrupted thread, erroneously recognized section header wikitext within preformat tags

On Template talk:Anchor with this edit, lcΣB3 partially archived and corrupted this thread which should not have been archived due to being younger than the required age (2 years). All signatures with dates recent enough to prevent archiving were in text after the wikitext section headers contained in <pre></pre> tags. Basically, the section header wikitext which was contained within <pre></pre> tags was erroneously recognized by lcΣB3 as valid section headers. Makyen (talk) 02:32, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

lcΣB3: did not recognize dates separated from end of line by a font tag.

On Wikipedia talk:Village pump (idea lab) in two sections (Top section and Milestone) in this edit lcΣB3 did not recognize valid formatted dates which had a </font> tag between them and the end of the line. Makyen (talk) 02:51, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Lowercase sigmabot

Hi the bot appears to be incorrectly removing the {{pp-move-indef}} tag when removing the {{pp-vandalism}} template. See diff. Thanks. Keith D (talk) 23:38, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

I'll take a look. Σσς(Sigma) 03:33, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

lcΣB3: does not substitute variables in archiveheader field

In Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism the MiszaBot configuration template contained |archiveheader = {{talkarchive}}{{archive-nav|%(counter)d}}. When creating an archive page MizaBot would substitute the current archive page counter for the "%(counter)d" text in this parameter prior to inserting it as the header for the archive. I verified that the archiveheader parameter had not changed from when MiszaBot created Archive 30 and that MiszaBot did create the page with the variable substituted. As such, this is functionality that existed in MiszaBot which does not exist in lcΣB3. Makyen (talk) 01:55, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Errors in archive headers at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism

Hello Σ. I was just following a link into the archives of this wikiproject and saw this error message. It says that %(counter)d is an expression error. User:Lowercase sigmabot seems to put the wrong headers on these archives. Archive 30 was created by MiszaBot and it's correct. The correct header for Archive 30 is {{talkarchive}}{{archive-nav|30}}. But Archive 31 had its header created by the new bot. The error message is:

← [[Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism/Archive Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "%".|Archive Expression error: Unrecognized punctuation character "%".]] | Archive %(counter)d

You can see this error message if you just open up Archive 31 and look at it. The relevant line of the MiszaBot config is: archiveheader = {{talkarchive}}{{archive-nav|%(counter)d}} So for some reason, the bot is seeing the instruction %(counter)d and decides that it's an expression error. One would expect that %(counter)d would evaluate to the next higher archive number, a simple integer. Thanks, -EdJohnston (talk) 00:31, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)   DoneI have corrected the issues for this specific page and its archive pages: /Archive (31|32). The bot configuration template has been changed to provide the same functionality in a different manner. New archive pages should be created with a archive header that is visually identical to what MizaBot would have created.
There is a general issue of a difference in functionality between MiazaBot and lcΣB3. I created a different level two header to encompass the general case and put this thread under that one. Makyen (talk) 01:55, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks to User:Makyen for this change. It does work around the problem successfully. One might hope for an eventual update in the bot code as well, since other talk pages could have the same issue. EdJohnston (talk) 05:20, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
What's interesting is that as far as I know, this is not documented MiszaBot behaviour. Implementing it should not be too difficult, but it appears that we have found a solution. Σσς(Sigma) 03:33, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Lowercase sigmabot III archiving discussions relevant to NPOV dispute tag

The lowercase sigmabot III bot archived a Murray Rothbard talk page section describing the reasons for an NPOV dispute. As a random editor viewing the page, I removed the NPOV dispute tag because there was nothing in the talk page addressing the tag, as the NPOV dispute page clearly requires. The editor involved with the tag was annoyed and we nearly began an edit war. Help:Archiving_a_talk_page explains that archiving a section is a subjective matter. This Rothbard article is a clear case where this bot has failed, miserably. In my opinion this is Bot-like editing. Please fix or disable the bot. MadenssContinued (talk) 09:06, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)This bot is approved to archive talk pages where the Miszabot's configure page exists. If you don't want talk page to be archived, use {{DNAU}}. —ReviDiscussion 10:00, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
You have my deepest apologies that my bot was guilty of bot-like editing. But I am afraid that I do not have the time or technology to make it sentient. In the meantime, please defer to Revi's advice. Σσς(Sigma) 03:33, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Your sandbot

I just thought I'd mention that we have a template containing the reset text (for the sandbox): {{Sandbox reset}}. It is worth considering its use, in case there is a change to the current text. Also, I just saw this, if is interests you.  Hazard SJ  21:24, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
