Proof that a horse has, in fact, an infinite number of legs

1. A horse has four legs
2. It has forelegs at the front
3. It has two legs at the rear
4. Four plus two is six, it has six legs
5. Six is an odd number of legs for a horse
6. Four is an even number
7. The only number which is both even and odd is infinity
8. Therefore: a horse has an infinite number of legs

Templates are a namespace and means of including common text and markup. Firstly there is a namespace called "Templates" (with and associated "Template talk" namespace. These are designed for the storage and maintenance of common code that is likely to be used repeatedly throughout wikipedia or in certain areas of it. There are numbers of specialist types of templates, navigation templates (typically used towards the end of articles), infoboxes (typically used to the top right of article giving key information about the subject) and tag templates (use near context to say something about that context (i.e. {{wikify}}, {{expand}}, {{copyright}} etc).

You can include the template but surrounding it by {{ and }} braces. It naturally goes to look for the content in the "Template" namespace unless you explicitly name somewhere else. This causes the content to be "included" or rather transcluded at the time the article is loaded by the browser. Or you can cause to load to happen once only at page edit type by using the code form {{subst:templatename}}.
