In the 2008 Wikimedia board election, I think most candidates are competent, and I ranked them up based on who I consider to have had sound judgment on things in general. That does mean that some candidates who I know little about feature far down on my ranking, and I'll let it be said that this is not a measure of distrust against that person. This is true for candidates numbers 1 through 14.
The person who I put in last place (15th place) is Mr. Gregory Kohs. Since my look on sites like Wikipedia Review and other commentary sites might give the impression that Kohs stands for reintroducing integrity to the Wikimedia projects and proper enforcement of BLP policy, I think I should give my reasons here:
- Kohs was the person behind the MyWikiBiz account, where he accepted payment for writing corporate articles. This is far from representing any integrity on Wikipedia.
- Kohs has made a series of wild attacks against me, as well as other Wikipedians who I know to be kind and wise. I will only repeat the "evaluation" he made of myself: "Sjakkalle is a witless boob".
- Kohs has repeatedly engaged in sockpuppetry in order to evade the English Wikipedia ban which was handed down by Jimbo Wales himself.
Whether this matters to you in casting your vote will be up to you, but in my view Kohs is the worst candidate possible for this position, and I would quite frankly prefer seeing Willy on Wheels, whose activities were merely silly, on the board to seeing Mr. Kohs there. I plainly don't buy his candidate statement.
