Biography

Ka'Ra Kersey was born on July 16, 1988, in Berkeley, California, and moved to East Oakland, California when she was 15 years old. She has African ancestry on her father's side, and European-American ancestry on her mother's side. Ka'Ra Kersey has been singing since she was born, but pursuing her career at the age of 12. She started singing lessons at the East Bay Performing Arts Center, in Richmond, California. At the age of 14, she started performing, and recording with a local Record company called, (YMR), Youth Movement Records. In 2006, during her senior year of High School, she collaborated with the group, Go D.A.V, creating the chorus for "One Love" and "The Bay". In 2006 She graduated from Berkeley High School, and went to college at Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois, majoring in Vocal Performance. In early 2007, while living in Chicago, she met Mikey Rocks, from the group, The Cool Kids. They created 2 tracks, one called "Train", that Mikey Rocks is featured on, and "Fly girl", that was produced by Chuck Inglish. After 2 and half years of living in Chi-town she decided to move back to her home, East Oakland, California.

2009–present:
editIn 2009, Ka'Ra Kersey, released her first mixtape, DubJungle. Which, was recorded on garage band in her mothers laundry room. She was determined to do her music even if it meant not the best quality. Its filled with stories of riding on the back of East Oakland's bus, blunted on top of roof top parties, and painting graffiti at your local liquor store. After being in and out of community college, she decided to move to Atlanta Georgia, to seek a new route to her musical career. In 2011, she released her first album, "Land of the Free", with Miami, Florida artist, Corrine Stevie. They infused Artwork, experimental sounds, and their freedom chanting vocals. In the Winter of 2011, Ka'Ra Kersey, returned back to Oakland,California, reconnecting with child hood friend, Kreayshawn. Kreayshawn, produced and edited Ka'Ra Kersey's first music video "Fuchsia Glaze", from the Mixtape, "DubJungle". In 2012, Ka'Ra Kersey Collaborated with Cincinnati, Ohio native, King Solomon in his music video "Your Eyes". The video was directed by Casual from the bay area hip hop sensation Hieroglyphics (group). This Spring of 2013, Ka'ra Kersey will be releasing her 2 new mixtapes! One of the 2 is called "Junkyard" Mixtape, and the other one is unknown. Her album is soon to be released, in the coming year of 2013.
