Protector of Daedalus refers to the mythological story of Icarus. The story of Icarus is both a tribute to ambition and inventiveness as well as a warning about the dangers of unbridled ambition. It was Daedalus the inventor and craftsman that created the wings that his son used. The ambition of Icarus was unbridled in his flight from earth, and his approach to the sun. However, Icarus's folly is usually only seen as his own mistake and no blame is usually attributed to the inventor/craftsman.

Engineers that work in regulatory, testing, verification and validation seek often to make devices safe by design, or educate users on dangers. (think Warning labels)

Thus, a person who empowers the ambitious but is savvy to the dangers of their ambition may both guard Icarus and Daedalus from catastrophe.
