Phthorimaea operculella granulovirus (PhopGV) is a Betabaculovirus belonging to the family Baculoviridae.[1] It has a double-stranded DNA genome that is 119217 base pairs in length with 130 ORFs. PhopGV infects few invertebrates, specifically Phthorimaea operculella also known as the Potato Tuber moth.
PhopGV biopesticides
editPhthorimaea operculella is a major pest of Solanaceous crops worldwide. As such, PhopGV has been commercially formulated into the biological insecticide Matapol.[2]
