John George Mathieson (c. 1880 - 25 February 1955) was a Scottish painter and engraver.[1][2]

His father was James Muir Mathieson [Snr] (c. 1846 - 22 January 1900), the manager of Airthrey Paper Mills, from Penicuik.[5][6]
His mother was Charlotte Watson (c. 1847 - 25 November 1938) from Carrington in Midlothian. James [Snr] and Charlotte married on 5 July 1867 in Lasswade, Midlothian.
John George Mathieson was born c. 1880 in Lintzford, Durham, England.
He married Jessie Wordie Davie (12 April 1884 - 1952) from Stirling. They married on 31 July 1909 in Stirling.
His brother James Muir Mathieson was also an artist.[7]

editHe died on 25 February 1955 in Stirling. He was buried at Logie Cemetery.[8]
